Trump's "Hybrid Plan": WSJ Attempts To Explain Questionable Results And Targets Of US-led Strike On Syria

The US Navy’s guided-missile cruiser USS Monterey

US President Donald Trump wanted to include Russian and Iranian forces deployed in Syria into the list of targets of the April 14 US-led strike on the country, the Wall Street Journal reported citing sources familiar with the decision making process.

According to the report, the Pentagon provided Trump with three main options:

  1. A powerful missile attack aimed at the alleged chemical weapons facilities of the Syrian government.
  2. Strikes on “a broader set of Syrian regime targets, including suspected chemical-weapons research facilities and military command centers.”
  3. “The most expansive proposal, which might have included strikes on Russian air defenses in Syria, was designed to cripple the regime’s military capabilities without touching Mr. Assad’s political machinery.”

President Trump and his team was considering to adopt the 3rd Scenario but Defense Secretary Jim Mattis pushed back, according to the newspaper’s sources. So, the “hybrid plan” of actions was approvided and then implemented on April 14.

Let’s check some background of the April 14 strikes to make the Wall Street Journal’s story more interesting.

According to the Pentagon’s official story, the US, France and the UK launched 105 missiles at three “chemical weapons” facilities of the Syrian government. The US military emphasized that all the missiles (100%) had hit their targets: 76 missiles hit “Barzah Research and Development Center”, 22 missiles hit “Him Shinshar Chemical Weapons Storage Site”, 7 missiles hit “Him Shinshar CW Bunker” where the chemical weapons were researched, produced and stored.

These claims immediately raised three main questions in the public:

  • Why 76 missiles were launched at one target?
  • Why the damage delivered to “Barzah Research and Development Center” is so minor?
  • Why there was no disperce of chemical agents clouds as a result of the strike if the missiles hit “chemical weapons” facilities?

By the way, the Barzah Research and Development Center was recently inspected [November 22, 2017] by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and the OPCW found no chemical weapons traces there.

On the other hand, the Russian Defense Ministry says that 71 missile had been intercepted by the Syrian Air Defense Forces (SADF), according to experts, most likely with the Russian and Iranian assistance. Reports from sources familiar with the situation in the Pentagon indicate that the US military leadership is concerned over the results of the April 14 strike and is about to launch an invesitation into this issue.

According to some sources, the Pentagon could have just “summed up” a major part of the intercepted missiles to the “Barzeh strike”. This would explain the “need” of 76 missiles to destroy three relatively small buildings.

In this case, the Wall Street Journal’s article is just an attempt to explain gaps in the Pentagon’s story with some kind of “complicated decision making process” that led to a “hybrid plan” to destroy 3 buildings with 76 missiles.

There is talk of Trump having some sort of pretend attack recently in Syria.Apparently Putin was okay with it and said,no worries donald bombs away.

Total garbage.Trump is just as Mr Putin said,,,just another front for the cabal.

Promitheas Apollonious

it also counts when gay and lesbians are behind the firing command center scare shitless that any moment they may die from counter attacks and prepare a rabbit exit from the ships into the sea.

schiamachy

What a silly remark it adds nothing to the discussion and in fact makes you look like a homophobe. i.e people who are frightened of gays and lesbians. Are you worried about your own sexuality?

Promitheas Apollonious

This lines they teach all of you to say and words to use like nazi – homophobe etc are you a queer and i touched a nerve? I fear nothing in my life and less of all subhumans and perverts, so take a walk. They teach all of you to be up normal, so take your sh*t to someone else.

Jens Holm

Psycopates mainly fear nothing…People are not people for them but objects and not even victims.

Promitheas Apollonious

tax slaves.

Tudor Miron

Wow! what we have hear… A little bit of gey propoganda? Cmon, you can’t be serious :) Homophobe? Honestly – лучше быть гомофобом чем пидором.

Promitheas Apollonious

лучше быть гомофобом чем пидором. For the ones who dont understand what is been written above. Free translation.

Better to be homophobic, than a pedophile. So none wonder what TM said.

FlorianGeyer

Berlin and other German cities during the Weimar Republic era had become a cesspit of decadence due to the Jew control of much of the commerce, law and banking after the Treaty of Versailles that bled Germany dry.

Arguably, the US,France UK etc have now become cesspits of decadence and the LGBT hysteria is just a small part of this.

The good news is that Jews have throughout history, eventually been expelled by their ‘hosts’. England expelled ALL Jews for about 220 years before the Civil War . The rebels were financed with ‘Jewish Gold’.

Another expulsion is well ‘overjew’ :)

Jens Holm

I hope You dont cook like that, where You are.

FlorianGeyer

I employ a cook Jens and have never been interested in cooking myself :)

javier

you would have the shit beaten out of you by some of the dykes in the military you sad little stupid man

Promitheas Apollonious

stupid is the one who make you. And yes I would like to see one try and see what come to them. Another rainbow child had a nerve touched on him.

Tudor Miron

Those that require transgender toilets or those that kill entire funerals and weddings. Those are brave worriors.

Jens Holm

Homos are not transgenders at all.

Jens Holm

You know nothing about those people as well as the ones hiring people certainly not hire people as You propose.

As in the rest of the world, You mainly hire reliable people, which fit for the jobs. Most jobs in the world are not even dangerous.

Even in the army You find many jobs being not dangerous at all in trainingcenters, mechanics and othrer kinds of repair radarsystems and supply. So why use scared people. What a waste.

Our homos are well accepted and respected by most people. They are educated as anybody else and pay tax to the ones which have children.

Promitheas Apollonious

I think the one who knows nothing is you friend. If you knew what I know more than likely you would think quite different. I dont dispute that as in all rules they are exceptions and even thought i doubt it must be also among them exceptions.

But in their majority are perverts and pedophiles. If they was ok people as you saying will not have done the utmost within their power, to dissolve family values and behave as their majority behaves.

Would you care to explain me how come lesbians and gays have priority over adopting children and how a 5 year old, can decide for himself to change sex? I been in the front lines with my group protecting children from organ harvesting and we was the ones who make officially the question to UN about 28.000 children missing from turkey who went as refugees from the syrian war and the answer was very busy with Yemen and have not the time to investigate.

90% of the ones we hit was gay lesbians and UN officials so dont try and educate me educate yourself. Then come and tell me again what you are saying now. Also when you speak to em dont ever again assume what I know or not just ask and I answer to you with facts and evidence. As for paying taxes this does not make them legitimate or give them any special status and a pervert is just that.

Nigel Maund

Thank God for South Front and the Russian Defence Ministry! Otherwise we would have to put up with Western MSM lies, distortions and misrepresentations of facts that are so far removed from the truth as to be from some other planet! The WSJ is just a propaganda rag for the Anglo – American Zionist Bankster – Corporatist Cabal and is staffed by wall to wall Zionist Jews all singing from the same Zionist hymnsheet of complete and utter bullshit.

Rex drabble

Apparently the X22 report says its all good,Trump is the good guy who is going to fix every thing up for us.He just needs to fool the cabal by bombing a few countries.

Nigel Maund

Rex I listen to Dave at X22 report every day and agree this is what he says. Q ANON says in tweets “stick with the plan” and apparently Q – ANON is real as he has gotten Trump to give out clear signals recently. Let’s hope this is indeed the case as right now matters are not looking good. Putin has been sensibly very restrained and not playing the Deep States game which wants to constantly up the ante to a full blown war.

Rex drabble

I dont doubt Q is real, what I doubt is that Putin would let America bomb a soverign country AGAINST international law and certainly wouldnt do it with out Assads permission.Do you think Assad would say okay? I dont!

Nigel Maund

Rex, Putin is playing a very careful game with a very dangerous and devious adversary in the NWO controlled US and NATO with an objectve of starting WW3 to cover up their massive crimes and the imminent financial collapse of the western debt / credit based system.

FlorianGeyer

President Assad is no fool and he and President Putin would likely have both agreed to offer Trump the punch bag of three old and empty buildings to attack and then proclaim ‘Mission Accomplished’.

All that has done as articles have described ,is to expose the willingness of the US to bomb a supposed chemical storage facility and release a cloud of toxins within a city inhabited by millions of civilians and the visiting OPCW inspectors.

That really is a War Crime.

Tudor Miron

Well said.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Should check out One America News reporter Pearson Sharpe take on Syria as he is on the ground there at the time of the attack. Has done interviews in Douma also forget Dave can’t trust him to be forthcoming on much.

Mikronos

Thanks. Nikki Haley should see this on the big screen at the UNSC.

Rob

Syrian and allies don’t inform these MF that we don’t have chemical weapons. This is weakness. Tell them yes we have chemecal, biological and nuclear weapons and ICBM too. Then US, UK and France will never attack Syria. Be smart. Saddam and Qazzafi both have done this mistake that assure them that we don’t have weapons and come attack us.

Mikronos

That’s how Obama started too. He ended up bombing them all, again.

Rob

Trump, May and Macron crossed all crimes boundaries. ———————————————

The French and British should ‘bother’ those incompetent fools – right out of office. A message for Hair Furor.

Rob

Syrians and their allies should bother US, UK and France so much that they leave Syria.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Yes all based on lies apparently Independent Journalist Robert Fisk confirmed everything that was spoken on the RT video with the doctors as he went in on his own with no military accompanying him. 1.Footage is authentic- recognized location. 2.Doctors he spoke to said children were admitted choking and spluttering. 3.They were admitted as Nearby Shelling and Dust and Fumes. 4.Someone created a panic shouting Gas! GAS! GAS! they started hosing them down according to procedure in a gas attack. 5. There was no chlorine Gas attack repeat… there was no chlorine gas attack. PS. Interview will be broadcast on #spiritradio @10.10 tomorrow

hvaiallverden

Yeah maybe the Mad Dog managed to beat some sense into the 800p Gorila, huffing and puffing in the glass house, I suspect that, and perhaps some pissed of Russian generals, swearing on the phone helped, I dont know, but this attack must have been much larger than the players wants to admit.

Again, its the military men, whom knows abit more about “realitys”, than an vilage idiot, concrete pissants, dumber than their counterparts in the farmlands and out back.

Yup, when the yapping wankee shit heads continues this freak show, I know they havent ended anything, the only thing that can do that is Russia. The second glimmer of hope, (spanke me) is europa, realising what the UssA have morphed into, an full blown dictatorial corpcraut dungeon, an banana republic, where everything is corrupted to the core, an president that flips faster than an jet engine, an open asylum, run by the inmates, the century old inbreed elite. And again in europa, everybody sees what happened, there cant have been an “better way” I am in awe, and can go fishing while the whores flashes their naked butts. And even when our MSM pimps some obscure pshycolog that drools something about conspiracy people are “de facto” nuts, yeah, coming from an “science” that is an 100% fraud, hehe, dunak dunka, what an idiot.

Russia must one day give them an offer they simply cant refuse, panjemayo, this time on their forehad, no mercy. And hehe, noticed the hasbarah, anyone, make the day even better. Nothing smels better than fryed Hasbarah nuts in the morong sun, hummmm. God is indeed mercifull.

” that led to a “hybrid plan” to destroy 3 buildings with 76 missiles.” The plan to destroy 3 buildings with 2 plane worked 15years ago in the centre of NYC. so…why did they 76 tomahawks in Syria? I guess they needed to be sure not to fail.

Derapage

76 tomahawks are an `overkill` for only 3 buildings. For example, Yugoslavia Hotel in Belgrade was hit with 2 tomahawks during the night of 7/8 May 1999 and the west wing of the hotel was totally destroyed. You can search for the picture of the damage with Google.

I sincerely hope many will join in having the same recognition of incongruency you’ve zeroed in on. Well spotted!

US sources are lying, the fact that US military leadership is concerned about the poor results of the April 14 strike, to launch an investigation is indicative that the US military weapons performed very poorly against a strong air defense system. Had Russia launched its missiles and intercepted the rest of the missiles would have been devastating to NATO ego.

Smoke and mirrors and this is all bollocks. There are no moderates in US government, just demonically possessed entities.

Yes there are. They could have knocked out all electricity and watersupply in the Assad possestions as a good example.

They also told, what was comming and had no intension for hitting hard.

71 Misiles was a TEST! Dont take that easy! I am pretty sure the USA had spies on the ground! The S1 system were tested! It took them 71 misiles to overrun that! A test on an attack against the S 400!

Rex drabble

??

King_GeorgXIII

Russian AA defense Truck. http://nationalinterest.org/blog/the-buzz/russias-new-mobile-air-defense-system-has-one-very-unique-16060 The S 400 is protected by units from this! In my opinion they tested how many cruise misiles they need to overrun that defensive layer!

RichardD

There was an 88% fail rate on defended sites. Te only sites that were “overrun” were undefended.

“what has prevented the United States from starting a full-scale attack against Syria is the presence of Russia and the fear Americans feel about Moscow’s military technology.

“So, I think what we are seeing here is one of those technological thresholds in the history of warfare. One technology has made another technology obsolete and I think the Russian missiles have made a couple of trillion dollars worth of military hardware obsolete and the United States fears this and they don’t want to press the issue,””

frankly

Not sure how this ‘test’ simulates the effect of launchers being suddenly disassembled especially if done pre-emptively?

Ewan

True. but airdefenses (old and new) in Syria are “integrated”. The only thing NOT tested, is the counter attack. Russia was wise NOT to respond to that provocation, else, it weakens the defense in a real scenario.

RichardD

This attack has been a complete public relations disaster for the US, France and the UK. With the scammers running these governments repeating the mistakes of the past. And permanently damaging their reputations in the process.

There is almost no public support for what the NATO Jew 3 have done:

This is a recent British poll on attacking Syria:

“Even though most Britons believe a chemical attack has been perpetrated, only 22% of Britons would support a cruise missile attack against the Syrian military”

– By two to one, the public oppose missile strikes on Syria –

https://yougov.co.uk/news/2018/04/12/two-one-public-oppose-missile-strikes-syria/

The last time a US president tried this, the public opposition coming into congressional offices was almost universally opposed. Nothing has changed, if anything they’re more against it now than they were before:

“About 60 percent of Americans surveyed said the United States should not intervene in Syria’s civil war, while just 9 percent thought President Barack Obama should act.”

– As Syria war escalates, Americans cool to U.S. intervention –

frankly

Agreed they are wearing out this paradigm, every day that passes finds them less capable and the enemies of empire more.

Jens Holm

I agree. people in that region dont understand mildness at all.

Jens Holm

You might try to glue those things to where they belong. US and We only interviwned because ISIS came out of hand and ISIS was supported hard for a period because it was a hope it was the last nail to get rid of at least Assad.

The the russians interviened and US was accepted as supporter of “kurds” figting ISIS as well.

Manuel Flores Escobar

I think the main attack and target was Dumayr air base or another one in southeast Damascus…all missile were intercepted by Pantsir and Buk….USA surely attacked Barzeh center with JASSM-R missile, 2 storage in Homs were attacked from Mediterranean, some missile were intecepted by air defense protecting air bases in Homs….this is the most accurate information accord number of explosion in Damascus as well as pieces of Brit missile in wst Homs!

velociraptor

all nato bastions around baltic sea are unharmed, mr. russiwillattacknatoninbalticsea!

thats told Gen Mattis to Trump…so at the end we have seen a Fake attack with insignifican damage because USA fear Russia respond!..It is not my words it is the Washington post today!

Tudor Miron

“Hybrid plan” my a$$. US/UK anglo zio stooges always accuse Putin for his “hybrid” warfare against innocent west (including Ukraine and rats in Syria). If that’s what they (west) have learned how to do than they should get back to school and watch some more.

Tudor Miron

76 missiles on one minor object… It’s like a psychopath serial killer keeps shoving his knife in a dead body of his victim – again and again and again. He knows the body is long dead but he likes the process itself and just can’t stop.

Sakaramanga

This surely was a fake attack. WSJ is full of crap. Just an allowed attack for Donald to brag about after which Russia and Assad carry on business as usual.

My question is have US and RF agreed on any other matter; like US leaving control of Syria to Assad and/or the fate of a Kurdish State (Zion-2).?

John Mason

It is easy to think that Washington humiliated Moscow by striking Syria and with Moscow opting not to respond, but it is Moscow that has been humiliating Washington, not only last night or last week but since it entered Syria in 2015. Since then, president Putin’s successful Syria policy has managed to tame Turkey, side-line Washington and help the Syrian Army become a fighting force again.

velociraptor

to think that Washington humiliated Moscow by striking Syria and with Moscow opting not to respond

this is fact. ruskies are extralaughable.

While you are infinitely ignorable.

Say a bull charges at a toreador and fails, getting a bit hurt in the process. You would consider the bull humiliated the toreador and laugh at him, wouldn’t you?

Gregory Casey

You are a fool

Ewan

@Veloci Craptor. Moscow humiliated NATO. 3 Nations attacked Syria. All 3 established nuclear powers with considerable force projection capability against a SINGLE real adversary- Russia. They had to downgrade their “Attack” to a firework display when Russia failed to cut and run. 2 fools here. You and Trump. Now go back to your Polish Ghetto and think up some more crap.I’ll be waiting.

RichardD

The research facilities that were hit and two of the targeted areas were reportedly abandoned. Which means that they were undefended by dedicated on site air defense systems. And any missiles that were aimed at them that were taken down before reaching their targets. Were taken down by regional, not local systems.

Of the 77 missiles aimed at the Damascus airport and 5 occupied air bases, 68 were taken down, and the remaining 9 that got through did little or no damage. That’s an 88% fail rate. With the remaining 12% being ineffective. And that’s without any suppression of the launches or interdiction outside of Syrian airspace.

With the military power projection that Russia and Iran are capable of employing outside of Syrian airspace. A high percentage of the launched missiles could have been interdicted before they even got to Syrian airspace, or have been prevented from being launched by destroying the launch platforms. And if the Jew 3 had escalated the attack, they would have begun to meet those types of counter measures.

The attempts to take down Syria’s air defense system, are meeting a much different response then similar attacks on Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya. Who had limited military power projection capability outside of their airspace. And limited or no outside tracking and targeting capability compared to Syria. Which is extensively integrated into the Russian system, and probably the Iranian one to to a lesser extent.

Douglas Houck

“the remaining 9 that got through did little or no damage.”

To me this is the key. First it was seven, not nine that got through, and they should have left some easily identifiable evidence of their explosions/landing. Not sure I’ve seen it. To check the claim of 76 hitting the Barzah Research and Development Center, just talk with the neighbors. That’s a lot of explosions, and much more than the 20 or so that Russia says got through.

RichardD

38 tons of HE would have done a lot more damage to the site and surrounding buildings. It’s obvious disinfo.

John

The story is crumbling rapidly, like a well constructed sand castle on waters edge at the beach.

frankly

Yeah reminds me how the great Patriot defense missile legend crumbled.

Redadmiral

There seems a flurry of sorts in msm regarding the latest strike on Syria. This break in “msm protocol” has already released quite a lot of sulphur dioxide, in turn exposing copious amounts of dung, manure and fecal matter in msm dissemination centres These communications facilities have in the past been targets of Eastern and Independent accusations for producing toxic discharges liable to inhibit free and unfettered thought processes. It is now abundantly clear that these strategically located facilities have indeed been stockpiling toxic gasses and releasing them into the public domain using inks, dyes and bleached wood-pulp as catalyses. Lol

Tudor Miron

Some rumors here say that situation (strike failure) would be used by Trump to further clean US ruling apparatus from country level elites and install global level elites. One is actually not better than the other if a bit more reasonable and educated.

Douglas Houck

Actually, the WSJ article makes sense. It was Sec. of State Mattis who pushed Option One, PR stunt, over getting into a real shooting match with the Russians.

As regards no chemical cloud, that would be expected, as Sarin was stored by the Syrians in its binary forms. Bombing a storage facility would not release any toxic cloud. You might have a problem with chlorine gas, but no need to store it out in the hinterlands as it is used everywhere, in water and wastewater, and industrial facilities. That, and its highly doubtful that there were any toxic chemicals, as there is no advantage, militarily or politically to use such weapons, nor any indication President al Assad, unlike his neighbor Saddam Hussein, is some sadistic psychopath.

One also needs to remember that only very small amounts of chemicals have ever been used in all of the “chemical attacks”. There is no indication that the Syrian goverment, or anybody else, has a lot of toxic chemicals stored within Syria.

The number of missiles used per site as given by the US is curious, but then so are the Russian numbers. A comparison of the two side’s statements shows that only the Mezzeh and Homs Military Airports can be used to help clarify who is telling more of the truth. The first four airports had all the missiles destroyed, so no damage and who knows. For the Russian side of the story to be true there should be damage at the two airports from the seven missiles that got through.

For there to have been no casualties there had to have been coordination between the two sides. You’d think there would have been at least security at these places. Obviously, the US only wanted the PR option, as the next day the Syrian government and allies are right back to reclaiming their country.

Baron Von MuleBanger

Whatever the post is about Jews did it!

frankly

The US seems dead set to fabricate a case for regime change, while the other side seems to want to rid themselves of foreigners with bad intent. I think relying on morally bankrupt Hollywood to create your foreign policy is disgusting. The only institution the US has any respect for is the inevitable destruction of their proxies. Lets kick it into hi gear by dismantling the Madrasa school system spreading world wide Wahhabi brain washing to vulnerable destitute youth. Cut the source.

While we are at it quit consuming US media of any form, no matter how seemingly innocuous, especially children’s “programming”!

Jens Holm

Wahabies are kind of salad or carrots here.

frankly

In July 2013, Wahhabism was identified by the European Parliament in Strasbourg as the main source of global terrorism.

Wahhabism has become increasingly influential, partly because of Saudi money and partly because of Saudi Arabia’s central influence as protector of Mecca.

The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, condemned Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil), insisting “the ideas of extremism, radicalism and terrorism do not belong to Islam in any way”.

Somewhat paradoxically, however, members of the Saudi ruling class have applauded Wahhabism it for its Salafi piety – i.e. its adherence to the original practices of Islam – and the movement’s vehement opposition to the Shia branch of Islam.

In the 1970s, with the help of funding from petroleum exports and other factors, Saudi charities started funding Wahhabi schools (madrassas) and mosques across the globe and the movement underwent “explosive growth”.

You can call me Al

This is again nonsense. Remember the last strike of 59 missiles, again the majority were shot down / zapped.

The Tomahawks are just lame useless rubbish, unless used against backward nations – exactly the same as those Patriot missiles.

3.“The most expansive proposal, which might have included strikes on Russian air defenses in Syria, was designed to cripple the regime’s military capabilities without touching Mr. Assad’s political machinery.”

Taking out all Syrian/Russian air defenses has always been at the top of the list. It’s the only thing Israel cannot do and MUST get the Coalition of Evil to do first. THAT strategy does not, itself, cripple Syria’s military capabilities. It merely gives the Israel and the Coalition of Evil unrestricted air access to all of Syria. The ‘cripple Syria’s military capabilities’ part comes after that. Israel doesn’t care if the Coalition of Evil is even around after the air defenses are destroyed. It’s perfectly capable of conducting its own Saudi/Yemen-style bombing campaign in Syria after tha.
