Turkey And Greece Continue On Collision Course, EU Backing Greece

Area subject to the Turkey-GNA maritime agreement

Turkey is continuing on its abrasive path of antagonizing all neighbours and aggressively pursuing geopolitical claims and territorial expansion. Given the plethora of intersecting major power and regional power rivalries and conflicts in the immediate region Turkey has managed to get away with its schemes up until now, if not always successfully, playing off one rival against another in its pursuit of the most advanced weapons and support for or tolerance of its multiple territorial expansion/ military projection projects. However, it is a very dangerous game, and could result in catastrophe if it continues.

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias accused Turkey of undermining security and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and violating the sovereignty of Libya, Syria, Iraq and Cyprus, according to a press release issued by the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday. According to the statement:

“Today, following a brief respite due to the pandemic, Turkey has once again declared that its land borders to Europe are open. At the same time, its coastguard escorts boats laden with migrants to the Greek islands. But it also persists in undermining security and stability, as well as peace, in the Eastern Mediterranean. It has caused problems to all its neighbours. It has been continuously violating the sovereignty of Libya, Syria, Iraq and our EU partner, the Republic of Cyprus.” LINK

Earlier in the day Dendias went with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell to the town of Kastanies in Greece’s Evros region, close to the border with Turkey.

Dendias alleged that about four months ago the Turkish government started a disinformation campaign actively encouraging people to cross the border with Greece, remarking that, “This deplorable attempt to blackmail the EU into concessions failed.”

Dendias and Borrell toured the Kastanies border crossing in the Evros region where thousands of migrants seeking to cross into the EU from Turkey had gathered in late February.

“It’s very clear that we are determined to protect the external borders of the European Union and to strongly support Greece’s sovereignty,” Borrell said.
The EU foreign policy chief said his visit to Greece had been planned but had been pushed forward after recent incidents involving Turkey “in order order to show our solidarity and to show how much we share your concerns.” LINK

Moreover, Turkey has been violating Greece’s national airspace and territorial waters daily, including over flights of inhabited areas in Evros and the Aegean Sea by armed warplanes. Turkey is also pushing ahead with its drilling operations in what Cyprus claims to be its exclusive economic zone in the Mediterranean and violating the UN arms embargo of Libya in pursuit of its expansionist ambitions.

After cataloguing Greece’s list of objections, Dendias added that Greece is open to dialogue, noting however that it is not prepared to negotiate under duress or help legitimize Turkey’s persistent violations of international laws and norms.

Relations between the two countries have long been strained by border tensions and Turkey’s oil and gas exploration plans in the Mediterranean. In the latest standoff, the Turkish Petroleum Corporation announced plans to receive drilling rights in areas considered by Greece to be a part of its continental shelf and Athens slammed the move. Turkey’s drilling plans were encouraged by the signing of a controversial deal on maritime boundaries with Libya’s Tripoli-based Government of National Accord, which the Greek government denounced as another attempt to usurp Greece’s sovereign rights and territory. Cyprus and Egypt also strongly condemned the agreement. Greece, Cyprus, Egypt are Israel are planning to build a pipeline carrying gas to Europe through part of the affected area.

In an op-ed published by Greek newspaper Kathimerini on Tuesday, Henri J. Barkey, a professor at LeHigh University and senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, argued that:

Signs point to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan adopting a strategy developed by “arch-nationalist” military officials called the “Blue Homeland”.

The military doctrine “envisages the domination of the Aegean, most of the Mediterranean and of the Black Sea”, which Barkey says is the reason Turkey has invested in expanding and updating its navy.

Barkey cited cases of Turkey’s expanding regional footprint in Syria, where a series of Turkish military operations have been carried out to battle armed Kurdish forces that Ankara considers threats to national security.

“Turkish victories in Syria and Libya have been made possible by Washington and Europe’s unwillingness to stand up to Erdoğan, which only feeds his sense of invincibility,” he said.

Erdoğan’s confidence in earlier military activities in the region could inspire him to “decide this is a good time to challenge Greece”, an endeavour that would gain the president public support in Turkey, Barkey said, adding that “The Blue Homeland doctrine makes it clear that Turkey does not recognize the post-World War I arrangements over the Aegean”. Zionism = EVIL

To be honest, Greece with a bankrupt economy smaller than Bangladesh and an aging population of 10 million is hardly in a position to challenge Turkey, which is also far more important to NATO vassals as it is the second most powerful military in the dying alliance of Eurofags and Americunt imploding lardasses. Turkey is pretty much unopposed in Libya as the Egyptian cunts did not get orders from their Americunt and Zionist masters. Greece has no support in Europe as Italy is backing Turkey while the rest don’t give a flying fuck and pay lip service.

Amorphis

Absolutely agreeing with you here. Greece already owns hundreds of billions of Euroes to EU criminal banks. Does Greece think EU countries will do ANYTHING for Greece if a war breaks between them and Turkey? What a fucking joke.

I used to visit Greece before they joined the EU. Easier to get in, cheap currency made it so I could spend alot of money. Now they are in EU, retarded hotels are asking for hundreds of Euroes. I am like what the fuck? Why would i wanna go there if the price is the same? There are beaches ALL AROUND THE WORLD. Theirs is not special.

occupybacon

That’ how banks works, they push money on you so when you can’t pay back they take everything, that’s what Germany does in EU.

Zionism = EVIL

Jew banks with Lehman Brothers and Goldman Sachs fucked the Greek economy and now the global economy. Only China is Jew free and that is the big problem for the Bilderberg cunts now.

occupybacon

Actually they behave exactly the same. And I believe Bilderbergs are more friends with China than with USA. Think of traders, they don’t care about the flags as long as they make more.

ΠΑΡΜΕΝΙΩΝ

China has grown with the help of Jewish bankers. Jewish bankers (Rothschilds) control energy in China.

Zionism = EVIL

Good to see that you are a realist my friend. Turkey invaded Cyprus in 1974 with full Americunt and NATO support. Greece was actually warned by the Jew cunt Kissinger that if there is a full scale war it will be on its own. The Turks used the main NATO Incirlik base for their invasion preparations and logistics, and the Americunts knew months in advance. The current Turk invasion of Libya also has a full green light from the Americunts, just like the Russian look the other way or assist the regular Zionist bombing of Syria. There are no alliances in REALPOLITIK, just individual state interests. Turkey is far too important.

ΠΑΡΜΕΝΙΩΝ

Υes….Turkey invaded Cyprus in 1974 with full Americunt and NATO support…but Greece did NOT fight then. This time everything will be POUTANA ,Turkey was important but not anymore, The fate of Turkey has been decided in 2016.

M.A. Lamett

Victorious Turkish Army intervened and rounded up Greek EOKA terorists who were massacring local Turkish civilians during 1974 Peace Operation in Cyprus. Turkey liberated half of the island within a week.

ΠΑΡΜΕΝΙΩΝ

“Victorious” Turkish Army…only to women, old men and children … not to an organized army. In Korea, you proved incompetent.

M.A. Lamett

We kicked your ass real good in 1974. Butt-hurt Gayreek. LOL

ΠΑΡΜΕΝΙΩΝ

This time things are different …just know that Turkey is geographically located on the same territory as Troy. Turkey is Troy … and Troy is always falling.

https://oladeka.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/pompeo-1-630×400.jpg

M.A. Lamett

When Turkey kicked your ass in 1923 and in Izmir (Symrna) in 1924, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk quoted: “We took the revenge of Troy”

Note: Don’t depend much on Trump’s sidekick moronic Pompeo

ΠΑΡΜΕΝΙΩΝ

tic tac the watch started to count ….for turkey. Get ready for a bloody and long-lasting civil war in turkey.Remember my words .

ΠΑΡΜΕΝΙΩΝ

” Note: Don’t depend much on Trump’s sidekick moronic Pompeo” …I pay attention to those who are behind him…and they are very bad guys.

ΠΑΡΜΕΝΙΩΝ

Without the help of the English, the French, the Italians and the Russians … you would not have passed any Smyrna. If they leave you alone with us … you will have no chance

mhtsaropinigitakis

i only see you acting like a butt-hurt Gypsy..Gypsy

Brother Ma

Seems you are afraid of the truth after all. It has been explained to you yet you cling on to dreams of Turk infallibility . The Greeks never fought back because their gov was traitorous and American- controlled. The Greeks that did fight back were soldiers already in Cyprus. They fought the Turks to a standstill. The Turks only won against a weakened and betrayed Cyprus National Guard. Yes, the truth hurts doesnt it. If Houthis can screw a modern conventional army and its commados and mercenaries, what do you think the Greeks will do to the Turk Hordes, after the Greeks invented asymmetric warfare? Have you not read of all the Greek victories even till 1940 ‘s Italy and 1000 men at nNicosia airport against your whole army in1974? Wake up!

ΠΑΡΜΕΝΙΩΝ

Turkey in Korea was a complete failure, on the hill of Chary, the only ones who defeated the Chinese were the Greeks

mhtsaropinigitakis

stop smoking weed Gypsy…how do you occupy 1/3rd of the isle if you conquered half of it? lol you make no sense

Simplekindof Man

We were betrayed by our own politicians… don’t flatter yourself,If Greece then threw all its strength back then to stop the invasion it would have been very different. Betrayal from all sides,NATo USA and most importantly the UK faggots. CIA archives of the machinations were made public last year. Guillotines should be set up on parliament Square if this country is to be rid of the filth, but most are dead anyway, good riddance.

ΠΑΡΜΕΝΙΩΝ

” Turkey is far too important.”

Yes, we know that … Erdogan is an agent of the KGΒ

M.A. Lamett

Agreed. I went to a Greek island a few years back. Sat on the shoreline and had a beer and Musakka (also a Turkish meal). Paid an exorbitant amount of Euros, like 5 times more than you would pay in Turkey about 20 miles away. That was no rip-off. The price was listed on the menu. On the Turkish side the life was more vibrant, much cheaper and more quality for tourists. I would recommend anybody to go to Turkey instead, unless you want to waste your money.

ΠΑΡΜΕΝΙΩΝ

” On the Turkish side the life was more vibrant, much cheaper and more quality for tourists. I would recommend anybody to go to Turkey instead”

You forgot to mention to the tourists, the Kurdish bombings in the tourist area.

M.A. Lamett

British Government Tourism Advisory:

“Terrorist attacks in Greece can’t be ruled out. Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by foreigners.

UK Counter Terrorism Policing has information and advice on staying safe abroad and what to do in the event of a terrorist attack. Find out more about the global threat from terrorism.

High profile British interests in Greece should be vigilant and regularly review their security measures.

There have been several attacks involving explosives and automatic weapons against Greek institutions, shopping malls, banks, media offices, diplomatic premises and the police.

British nationals aren’t normally considered a specific target, but attacks could happen in places visited by foreigners.”

ΠΑΡΜΕΝΙΩΝ

” British Government Tourism Advisory:”

You mean the Empire of Gay;; xa xa

M.A. Lamett

I thought you Greeks love gays. Gay culture is created in ancient Greece. They didn’t teach you that? LOL

Brother Ma

He is a paid Turk shill or a coban from the hills. Ask him what Turkey looks like ten km in from the sea or away from the Tourists? Typical Turkish hovels, dust and ignorance, kemal gave them some light and they blew it out the first chance they got. Lol

Porc Halal

Hahaha, I visited both greece and turkey and one thing I can tell you for sure!…i will never go again in turkey as a tourist…

M.A. Lamett

Yeah for sure dumb Greek. That is why Turkey is one of the top Tourist destinations. Greece is NOT even on the list. Check it out and kiss my ass!

Creepy face, I am not greek…you are so stupid you are not even able to understand a text…But hey, no wonder…probably you are a turk…

yeah, and the your list is most probably a turdish islamist propaganda to accomodate the alter ego of the turdish babouins…

M.A. Lamett

The numbers are from an international site you dumb. https://worldpopulationreview.com/countries/most-visited-countries/

You may not be a Gayreek but you still like to kiss their asses. Do you have a Greek gay boyfriend?

Porc Halal

yes!…as a matter of fact I have one…his name is erdogay

https://countrysquirecouk.files.wordpress.com/2017/03/erdogan.png

mhtsaropinigitakis

i thought ERDOGAY was loyal to my Souvlaki!! now he eats Kebap also! omg what a traitor!

mhtsaropinigitakis

in your dreams you visited Greece ahahahahahahah what a trololo

Vas

Greek economy is on the rise again in the last couple of years, around 3% positive GDP per year, only now this year there is a stagnation in eco like all other countries in the world due to COVID-19, plus Greece is out of the bailout memorandum 2 years now.

Also you cant compare with Bangladesh because they are 161 million people, while Greece is 11 and per capita Greeks are 10 times more(39th global). Yes the ageing population is a problem like in all Europe, the gov here is trying to reverse it introducing new Laws and benefits to encourage more children, starting this year. As for the “2nd” most powerful army Turkey, only in total troop numbers, otherwise in navy, airforce and most of their ground forces gear and systems Greece has both the same quantity and quality, but for sure better pilots and sailors, the sea was never a turkish thing, Greece indeed has the third largest conventional armed forces in NATO behind USA and Turkey and against Turkey as I said only in the total amount of troops but hey its 2020, we are not fighting anymore with swords, besides Greece was always outnumbered in its history as far troops numbers consider.

So if Turkey cannot win against an exhausted army like the Syrian one which is fighting for 10 years already, how do you think they are going to perform against a peer adversary like Greece. You are giving a lot more credit that they deserve to Turkey, they are not a superpower.

mhtsaropinigitakis

nice to see some cementers in here got their facts right! well said sir!

Porc Halal

i agree…to much baseless credits for a shithole country like turdistan…

M.A. Lamett

In fact, Greece is the real dumpster and shithole of EU. You became a joke. Poor, miserable. You don’t even have money to purchase arms to defend yourself. No industry, nothing! You depend on EU,German donations. Pathetic stinky Greek.

mhtsaropinigitakis

so said the Gypsy Turk with their useless homemade junk that cant fight vs some rag tag rebels..you lost 10 tanks from a bunch of isis terrorists in al bab…the whole planet is laughing with the Gypsy army of Turkey

Zionism = EVIL

Some of your points are valid, but keep in mind the Zionist parasites are supported by the Americunts and the entire west, while the Jews and their banks bankrupted Greece, not Turkey. Greece in the big picture is expendable, while Turkey has far more economic and strategic value for NATO as cannon fodder against Russia, the next western enemies are Russia and China. Nations operate on self interest and not emotions like people. NATO is totally committed to Turkey and is party to the invasion of Libya.

ΠΑΡΜΕΝΙΩΝ

” NATO is totally committed to Turkey

But NATO is controlled by a Zionist so how can Turkey …..” Turkey has totally whacked the Arab losers, mostly importantly the Zionist controlled”

as you wrote.

ΠΑΡΜΕΝΙΩΝ

” To be honest, Greece with a bankrupt economy”

Explain something to us How is it possible for bankrupt Greece to raise twice as many warplanes in violation, for the Hellenic army to be constantly exercising in all fields, and for the Fleet units to be ready for war?The narrative has changed ..

Simplekindof Man

Agreed on the Israel part . Greece should have them as a model regarding military structure training personnel reserves etc

Vas

I do agree on that part as well.

mhtsaropinigitakis

just like that time when Italy invaded poor Greece? yeah right. and then you Woke up from your daydreaming?

ΠΑΡΜΕΝΙΩΝ

We don’t want help from anyone … we only want one thing..no one to help Turkey in the conflict between us....Then you get your drink..and you enjoy watching.

M.A. Lamett

but you get aid and donations from EU and Germany to survive. Greeks are filthy beggars.

mhtsaropinigitakis

You beg to enter EU to get some donations yourselves little Gypsies…you know that will never happen

Simplekindof Man

Greece has always been betrayed by its own faggot governments and half its neofaggotalliberal-commie residents.

Hard Hawk

spoken like a true ignorant idiot

occupybacon

Since the only nuclear power left in EU ran like a chiken when Turks opened a radar on them, and even more they complained like little bitches at NATO headquarters, what can Turkey do other than taking advantage?

King Cliff

The greek must be a resistant front against Turkey in the European union and nato assembly. Turkey must isolated in order to stop pursuing the course of actions it has taken. I’m all for peace but the more leverage Turkey grab over Russia and United states of America the more aggressive Turkey will become,it like they are being giving a green light to do as please.

M.A. Lamett

In other word you say that Greece must be used as a cannon fodder by the western imperialism. Nice.

mhtsaropinigitakis

Turkey has no chance vs Greece in the eastern Mediterranean and Aegean sea in its claims and Knows it …thats why Turkey is so desperate and does desperate things like making illegal deals with its puppets in Libya and violating Greek Airspace. but when Greece finishes the deal with Egypt then there wont be anything left to do..and Turkey knows that and is in Panic mode right now.

Zionism = EVIL

Sorry to say that Egypt is even more broke than Greece and has an internal insurgency going on as well as problems with Ethiopia which is more than capable of whupping Egypt, which historically is the most cowardly Arab state and even before that when the Romans literally sailed in and fucked Cleopatra. Egypt will not fight for anyone, that is why a few million Zionists have defeated it several times. The Ottomans ruled Egypt and know the worthless Egyptians quite well. As I had said originally, Turkey has achieved its goals in Libya as it is unchallenged and no one will do anything. The only people who could have made a difference were the Wagner group, but vacillating Putin pulled them out. Russia is more interested in keeping Turkey on side.

M.A. Lamett

I guess Greece is the one in panic mode. I watch Greek commentators and panels on the Greek TV somewhat regularly and the subject is overwhelmingly Turkey and its military. I can see real fear among the Greeks. Especially after the Libya-Turkey maritime deal, it seems the Greeks went ballistic, out of control. The Greek claim of nearly 150k square miles of eastern Mediterranean covering even the entire Turkish coastline went down the sink hole. Besides, I don’t see any serious escalation let alone a conflict or worst a war between Turkey and Egypt. Sisi is not liked much in Egypt and he is a brutal dictator. Turkey was in excellent terms with Egypt before and there is no bad feelings between the people of these two great nations. Sisi will risk an overthrow of his regime, if he does something stupid. He know it.

Simplekindof Man

Quoting fear mongering mass media is a joke

mhtsaropinigitakis

you are totally wrong once again.media will advertise what sells best…that fake panic mode sells well always in all the countries.media are real terrorists…thats their job..now if you think that Greek ppl are in Panic mode ..then you are in for a big surprise lol!

Dick Von Dast'Ard

PARIS, June 25. /TASS/. French President Emmanuel Macron plans to hold a video linkup with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Friday, June 26, the French president’s administration said on Wednesday.

“The talks in the videoconference format are planned for Monday afternoon,” a spokesperson for Macron’s administration said.

In his words, the two leaders need to “ensure further progress in settling crises, including the one in Ukraine.”

According to the French president’s administration, Macron also expects to discuss with Putin “issues of ensuring strategic stability,” the situation in Libya and Iran and the novel coronavirus pandemic. Besides, the two leaders are also expected to address “the main crises that are on the UN Security Council’s agenda.”

“The French president believes it is important to consider jointly with Russia a whole range of difficult problems,” the spokesperson said, naming bilateral cooperation, European stability and cybersecurity among them. https://tass.com/politics/1171347

A very interesting video. Greek Professor Dimitri Kitsikis admitting some truths. In summary, he says the following:

“Greeks don’t know how to run a state and Turks know it. Turks are organized state builders. Greeks shall join (be part of) Turkey. It is better than to be the colony and beggar of EU and Anglo-Saxon imperialist. Greece has no future otherwise.”

Wise words.

Henri J. Barkey that Southfront refers to in the article above is a Turkish born jewish zionist stooge and a well known CIA asset. During the coup d’etat attempt in 2016, him and his team was stationed on a small Turkish island (called the prince island) in the center of Istanbul. He fled the same evening when he realized that the coup attempt failed. Thus his words mean not that much or usually is loaded with disinformation. He is trying to stir the pot (Again). To have a war in between Turkey-Greece or Egypt and even France will make Israel happy. Nobody else.

Dick Von Dast'Ard

Looking at the Egyptian navy, there is quite a lot of French military industrial complex sales there, not least the two big Mistral-class (21,500 ton loaded) amphibious warfare assault ships (900 troop load) with the latest Russian attack helicopters. (Ka-52K)

I’d imagine a joint French-Greek-Egyptian Med task force would be a reasonably impressive force of warships.
