Turkey Deployed Large Armored Force In Syria’s Greater Idlib (Video)

Support SouthFront

On October 14, the Turkish Armed Forces deployed a large armored unit in the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib.

The unit, that consists from dozens of M60 Sabra MK II battle tanks and T-155 Fırtına howitzers, took position near the town of Maratah in the southwestern countryside of Idlib, where Turkish forces maintain several positions.

A commander in the Syrian National Army told Jesr Press that the deployment of Turkish reinforcement is a protective measure.

“The Russians usually initiate military operations in the winter. As a matter of being prepared for any eventuality, we, with our Turkish allies, are taking all kinds of preventive measures,” the commander, whose name was not mentioned, said.

Greater Idlib appears to be heading to a new escalation. Earlier today, a series of Russian airstrikes wiped out several training camps and headquarters of al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, which control the region.

The Turkish military has a large, heavily-armed force deployed in more than 60 fortified posts throughout Greater Idlib. Air-defense systems were also installed there.

Any new ground operation by the Syrian Arab Army and its allies in Greater Idlib will likely lead to a large confrontation with Turkey, which is yet to implement the March 5 agreement.

mr putin it’s been almost a year and the m4 is still not open ????? JUST LIKE THE 100 PREVIOUS AGREEMENTS WITH THE TURKS not respected…what would you do if turkey slided couple jihadis into chechnya from azerbeidjan ???? is it going to be buisness and economic interests as usual ????? thoses fucking turks are nothing but thieves and backstabbers.. bring thoses beautifull s400 and a couple of tu-22 and some t90, tor’s… and show the world how it is done, that idlib region needs to be exterminated it’s cancer, the syrian army is ready …what’s the excuse now ?….you don’t have to do anything the 25 th divison tigers only need a no fly zone and they’ll clean that sh*t in weeks ….russia pussying out for whatever reason call it interests or not against turkey will have extremly bad consequences

The Objective

My friend, it’ll seem you don’t understand the situation. Russia isn’t going to do a damn thing. The Turkish military deployment cannot be defeated by Russia in Syria simply because of Turkey’s proximity to the battlefield. Turkey has over 200 jet fighters with well-trained pilots. Turkey has plenty of drones and a large military that can deploy to Syria within days. They are ready for anything Russia wants, and truly, Russia cannot afford a fight with Turkey even on Syrian soil. In fact, that’ll almost certainly guarantee the fall of Assad as the Turkish jets will take off from Turkey and launch bombing raids throughout much of Assad’s strongholds, severely degrading his forces.

Also don’t forget the U.S.A. It has recently reinforced its position in Syria and won’t stand idle in such a war. It’ll be America’s chance to topple Assad by unleashing a wave of ISIS fighters to finish with what remains of the Syrian army after intense Turkish bombing of Syria. It’s very likely that America joins this war directly on the side of Turkey, but even if it doesn’t, Turkey has enough resources to bleed Russia out in Syria for decades. Plus, there is the risk of NATO coming in if the Russians attack Turkey directly.

So, yours is a pipe dream. Putin knows far better than to ignite a war with Turkey. And I’m sure if he’s crazy enough to do that, then Erdogan will prove even crazier.

Fog of War

” So, yours is a pipe dream. Putin knows far better than to ignite a war with Turkey. And I’m sure if he’s crazy enough to do that, then Erdogan will prove even crazier. ” Your theory also applies to NK then ? What other regions would be included in that scenario Belarus ? The Donbas ? Russia proper ? When’s a good time to make a stand for Russia ?

The Objective

Russia is Killin Muslims in Syria and Libya, and they are helping dictators in the Muslim world do this even more. Sisi, Haftar, and Assad are the main killers Russia backs currently. Russia has declared the Muslim brotherhood a terrorist organization – something even the Western world hasn’t. More than 90% of Sunni Muslims worldwide agree with much of what MB stands for. Every Muslim student union in the world of Sunnis can be considered a MB because they share similar goals of uniting Muslims worldwide against those currently oppressing us. By declaring MB a terrorist organization, Russia has set the stage for it’s eventual eviction from much of the Muslim world. I used to think those Russian bastards are wiser than their western counterparts. Now I know they are a bunch of fools. Their folly is the reason the Soviet Union collapsed. Any democracy in Syria, Egypt, and Libya will see the Russians kicked out. And no matter how much they try to scare us into submission with their big guns, we’re going to keep fighting. We have more public support than their dictators who only cling to power by force of arms. But they cannot smash the current Muslim awakening. Turkey is in the Muslim side, and more countries will soon join. Turkey will fight to protect as many Muslims as it can. Haftar won’t be allowed to do to Libya what Sisi did to Egypt even if it means a war with Russia. Russia is currently the biggest threat to Sunni Islam. The earlier Muslims understand this, the better for us.

Fog of War

” Russia is currently the biggest threat to Sunni Islam. The earlier Muslims understand this, the better for us. ”

Russia the biggest threat ? Seriously ? I used to respect your comments but not after such an illogical outburst. Also, Russia is not the problem, Putin is.

The Objective

Maybe Putin is, but currently, Russia is doing more harm to Muslims than the Western world combined. They are more inclined to violence. Had it been Russian posts that came under attacks like Americans in Iraq, Russia would have initiated a war. The only reason Turkey deters Russia is because the Russian leadership knows Erdogan won’t shy away from a fight, and the Turkish military is no pushover. Had Turkey been some weak third world military, Russia would have attacked it since, especially in Syria. Russia is a far worse bully than America and thank God the Kremlin will never rule the world. America had been truly evil, but I think Russia would have been worse given America’s power.

Fog of War

I’m no fan boy of Russia, however, Russia had its airplanes shot down, generals killed, ambassadors killed, bases attacked, and soldiers killed, yet they haven’t really done anything in retaliation, because of Zio Putin. If you would be honest you would admit that ZioAmerica would be fighting have the world by now if that happened to them.

The Objective

Did all these things you mention happen to Russia in Libya or Egypt? What right has Russia in these countries? Russia has a higher propensity to violence than America. The only time it acts with restraint is when deterred. Russia won’t hesitate to invade Venezuela if it were in America’s position. Look at Georgia and Ukraine.

paolinks

When the war will start. This is a game on domino. Who which starts the fight, will lose. It is that simple.

Everyone wants to see missiles flying, but they don’t understand that modern warfare has multiple dimensions.

We are seeing Turkey stretching its big, yes, but not mighty military machine all over Asia. There is really someone so blind to think that Turkey can hold up this charade for the long term? The lira is going down and down, rapidly approaching hryvnia ( well known for being toilette paper ). Turkish servicemen are dying and Erdogan is trying to make up for it by using mercenary head choppers.

The nervousness for the current stalemate against Armenia is clearly visible.

The US couldn’t sustain such a situation. The soviets were put to their knees because of a similar situation. How could Turkey hold indefinitely?

Also, Turkey is making an enemy of its NATO allies, by threatening Greece.

On the backdrop, the WWIII is brewing. Russia will strike when the real shit will hit the fan. They cannot waste resources on pointless proxy wars.

Fog of War

” but they don’t understand that modern warfare has multiple dimensions. ”

But thankfully you do.

What you dont seem to understand is the minor fact , that if ZioAmerica is willing to kill Russians in Syria, its also going to be willing to kill them anywhere else. The Soviet Union would never put up with this behavior from the US, and would already have missiles in Cuba, Venezuela, and elsewhere. A nuclear deterrent only works if you use it as such. Its obvious Putin is handicapping Russia’s generals at every possibility as he’s an agent of the Zionists. The sooner everyone understands this, the sooner they will understand the events that are going on.

paolinks

And it worked well for the USSR, right? They were despised worldwide and known as “the empire of evil”.

Instead now you have that the US is seen as the empire of evil and Russia is seen as the bullied guy who is standing up to the bully.

What image of you people have in their mind, is more important that stupid war rhetoric. Watch at Turkey. They always threaten, bomb, kill, but they are completely ruining their public image. If France ( hypothetically ) should decide to go to war with Turkey, you can bet that french people would overwhelmingly support it.

Fog of War

” And it worked well for the USSR, right? They were despised worldwide and known as “the empire of evil”. ” No they weren’t, that was US propaganda, the USSR was respected by many countries and helped many of them also. ” If France ( hypothetically ) should decide to go to war with Turkey, you can bet that french people would overwhelmingly support it. ” France is done as a European country. If it ever went to war against Turkey or another Muslim country a good portion of its Muslim population would side with the other side. Western Europe is finished barring a war to clear out its ” migrants”.

paolinks

They weren’t….are you sure? I remember the fall of the Berlin wall. I remember how fast soviet republics seceded from it. I remember how strong was/is the hate against the russians, because of the USSR.

Fog of War

The were many reason for that, however, many other nations around the world still respected the Soviet Union and probably miss it to this day.

paolinks

Fear or respect? Because you know, we have various mafia organizations in Italy and people fear them. But they call it “respect”.

Same with the US. No one respects them. They just fear them.

StafJustice

Are you suggesting Turkey will fight a war on behalf of Alqaeda and other militants? Syria need to fight on to claim it land back… Perhaps Turkey is interested in annexing Idlib.

The Objective

Turkey wants Assad to sit at the negotiations table with the opposition and reach a peaceful resolution to the war. Assad doesn’t want to because he’ll lose in any democratic transition.

Jens Holm

You only speak for the Regime in Damaskus and not the rest of them, which probatly are the majority.

The Objective

Turkey will fight for the Syrian people who want free and fair democracy and an end to dictatorship

cechas vodobenikov

Russia could defeat Turkey in weeks—Turkish territorial control in Syria is now less than 10% due to Russia, Syria, Iran

The Objective

Has Turkey ever openly fought Russia in Syria? There was only one instance of Turkey downing a Russian jet. Turkey did fight Assad briefly in late February and early March this year. And we all know what happened during that drone offensive. In a war, Turkey will actually take more territory, not lose further. Unlike Russia which has to cover vast distances, Turkey has all it’s war machines close by.

Fog of War

” russia pussying out for whatever reason call it interests or not against turkey will have extremly bad consequences ” There’s a good reason for Russia’s inactivity. Its called Putin, the Chabad marionette .

Karamanids Khan

With missiles that don’t explode? Ahahah. Russia knows very well that if Iblip also attacks, Assad will not even have dust left. and believe me if she could, she would do it by this time.

Fog of War

Are you speaking in character , or is your English really that bad ?

Svincius Savickas

Do not worry, Turkey will collapse at the end of the day, just like the Ottoman empire – when you are too greedy, you lose everything. Putin is smart, he can wait, and strike when nobody expects.

BTW, has Syria lost an opportunity to make a surprise move for Idlib, Kabani or Jisr Ash-Shugur when Erdogan is busy with his adventure in Aezabaijan?

Jens Holm

Assads has no troops for that at all.

Even the dead ones being ghost will never copme back. They finally found peace.

Lazy Gamer

There might still be no adequate answer for drones.

supremacyofnations

perfect time to blast these skunks out of existance to avenge the armenian fallen. And if Stoltenberg dares to open his mouth and say anything Norway becomes Sweden once again.

John Wallace

HTS were never part of the ceasefire agreement and were able to be attacked at ANY time. Syria has been divided into zones of control by America , Turkey and Russia. Israel is happy that their arch enemy is thus divided until they make good on their greater Israel plan. The Euphrates is the Eastern border so the US/SDF zone is on the other side of the Israeli’s extension . Turkey is going nowhere and is there to stay in what they now consider the Turkish annex . That is the agreement Russia and Turkey made. Assad now has relative peace in what is left of his Syria that he controls. Unless there is a major war between major parties involved then this is the way Syria shall remain for the foreseeable future.

The Objective

You forgot ISIS in your analysis. They’ll always be a nuisance for Assad.

John Wallace

ISIS who were going to control the Middle East through their all powerful Caliphate are now nothing more than a nuisance , just like a blowfly at dinnertime.

The Objective

You’re wrong about ISIS. America runs ISIS and until the U.S is satisfied with the outcome of Syria’s war, ISIS isn’t about to disappear. It’ll b a constant war of attrition against Assad.

Icarus Tanović

I see what you are about, bot and propagandist. It isn’t war against Assad, but it is a aggression on Syria and Syrian people by USA and theirs proxies, such are one of them ISIS, ziowahhabi creation.

John Wallace

I know IS from when they split from al Qaeda and met a delegation of leaders from various factions of anti Assad groups to discuss working together. In very un Arab like fashion they were butchered on the spot . I have seen the reports of early weapons captured from these animals which showed from end user certificated that they were purchased by the US and Saudi Arabia from FSU countries and illegally shipped too IS / ISIS . I saw that video of hundreds and hundreds of brand new Toyotas before they were converted in convoy to IS being escorted by US helicopters which may or may not have been in the hands of Turkish or SA pilots . ISIS is basically dead but the US will promote a new group of monkeys to do the dirty work. The US army backing SDF to fight CIA backed ISIS. Americans paying both sides to fight each other..

Icarus Tanović

Don’t bother to talk to him, he’s Islamic brotherhood, Wahhabi, Zio propagandist, who is trying his best to make clear water murky one.

John Wallace

Thanks but I know he is anything but objective.

opet ja

Mr putin let them do that. They let Turks do what they want in Libya and Mediterranean. Turks are involved in Nagorno Karabakh conflict too. All approved by Mr Putin…

nyomarek

Lets hope this means a strong SAA advance finally!

Svincius Savickas

DEATH TO TURKISH PIGS! HIT ARMENIA, BITCHES, AND YOU WILL SEE WHAT RUSSIA WILL MAKE OF YOU, PIGS SHITS!

Jens Holm

Dont effent Our pigs.

Next time You starve, we will parashute many of them to You, and they will be armed.

The Objective

Turkey is not Georgia

cechas vodobenikov

as the turkeys impoverish their own nation, they will required to withdraw—facing defeat and diminishing influence everywhere—except Qatar and USA

Jens Holm

So does Russia. Russia seemes more and more like a midget to me.

paolinks

So does the UE and the US, both in economic meltdown, vicious lockdowns and are bullcrap.

Russia has natural resources. We don’t. Russia has a 12% debt. We are over 100%.

Jens Holm

Apart from the UK, we have a decloning as the rest of the world. Thas no meltdown.

Captain Freedom

Russian winter is coming to Idlib

Icarus Tanović

Oh really? Turkey is REALLY busy on several other fronts, so they wouldn’t dare to do anything in Idlib. It is time for SAA to make a move. Time for offensive.

Jens Holm

Really. The article says: … dozens of M60 Sabra MK II battle tanks and T-155 Fırtına howitzers,

Karamanids Khan

Ahahaahahahah, everyone knows what will happen to the Assad militia later.

Jens Holm

Turks put in the best artillery they have.

I wonder if they also has missiles to protedt them. That might be needed.

The Objective

The have precision missiles that can cover the whole of Syria and Moscow.

paolinks

Keep dreaming. Erdogan was done in 2016. If not for Putin, he would be a carcass by now.

Jens Holm

There is a list: SOM Turkey Land/Ship attackCruise missile SOM B1 & B2 AGM-84H/K SLAM-ER USA Land attack cruise missile SLAM-ER Standoff Land Attack Missile USA Land attack cruise missile AGM-84H/K Popeye (missile) ISR Land attack cruise missile Popeye II AGM-88 HARM USA Air-to-surface anti-radiation missile AGM-88B AGM-65 Maverick USA Air-to-surface guided missile AGM-65G, AGM-65A/B AGM-154 JSOW USA Glide bomb AGM-154A-1/C

paolinks

All american hardware. The same hardware that Moscow has countermeasures for. There is nothing that could strike Moscow, without being shoot down hundreds of km from it.

The Objective

Russia tipped Erdogan because they saw him as not friendly with NATO and they wanted him to survive the assassination attempt so he even moves farther from the West. Russia didn’t do that to help the Muslims in Egypt, Turkey, Libya, or Syria. They had other destructive plans for Sunni Muslims and these plans they still try to implement. Thank God their economy is in trouble and the US is sanctioning them. Their middle east ally is also in deep shit with economic collapse imminent. China isn’t joining Russia in its wars of aggression. The Caucasus is heating up, with Russia’s puppet leaders in trouble. Drones are repeatedly embarrassing Russian celebrated AA systems and the arms market will likely decline for Russia. Gas projects to Europe is in trouble, crude oil prices tumbling, price wars with Saudi Arabia and much more. These problems will only compound as time goes on.

Jens Holm

It only seemes to be a few ones.

The Objective

How do you know? With their economic progress in the past two decades, I think Turkey had enough to stockpile a sizeable arsenal of missiles, especially when evil Shiite Iran has done that.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

They deployed closer to the Turkish border than they did the front lines, is there a message in that. HTS has been arresting Turkish backed Syrian Interim Government fighters and agents for months now, many hundreds of them, and yet Erdogan hasn’t done anything at all to stop them, surely there must come a time when Erdogan demands a stop to the HTS takeover, maybe we’re getting close to that time now, maybe the new deployments aren’t arriving to confront the SAA at all, maybe they’re arriving to confront an ever increasingly uncontrollable ally, one that is now vying to become an internationally accepted alternative to the Turkish backed Syrian Interim Government.

Karamanids Khan

They beat the Turks with the keyboard every day. But we have been standing in the same place for thousands of years. We extend our friendly hand to those who want, slap those who want. We may lose, we may be sad, but we cannot be broken like a pencil.
