On September 15, the Turkish military deployed six M60 battle tanks, ten armored vehicles and a command vehicle at its observation posts in the towns of Shir Maghar and Eshtabraq in the al-Ghab Plains and the northwester part of Idlib governorate, according to the Syrian news outlet Enab Baladi.

Turkey established Shir Maghar and Eshtabraq observation posts on May 14 and 16. The establishment of these posts was a result of the Astana process, which is led by Russia, Turkey and Iran.

Two days ago, Turkey made a similar move deploying battle tanks in its observation point in the town of Murak in the northern Hama countryside. Back then, Turkish and Syrian opposition sources told the Reuters news agency that Turkey is reinforcing all of its observation posts in Idlib in order to deter the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies.

In the last few weeks, Turkey began taking measures to prevent the SAA and its allies from launching a military operation against the remaining militants in northwestern Syria. These measures included organizing pro-Turkey demonstrations throughout Idlib and boosting its weapon supplies to the militants there.
