Turkey Deploys More Militants In Northeastern Syria Amid Report Of Near Operation Against Kurdish Forces

Turkey has deployed more of its proxies in the areas occupied by its forces in northeastern Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on October 29.

According to the London-based monitoring group, several groups of Turkish-backed militants were sent from the Turkish-occupied areas in the northern countryside of Aleppo to the occupied areas in the northern countryside of Raqqa and al-Hasakah through Turkey’s territory.

The militants were sent by the Hamzah Division, the Rahman Legion, the Sultan Murad Division, Ahrar al-Sharqiyah, Jaysh al-Sharqiyah, the Suleyman Shah Division, the 9th Division and several other factions of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA).

The deployment comes amid reports of a near Turkish-led operation against the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northern and northeastern Syria.

According to a recent report by Bloomberg, the town of Kobane in northeastern Syria will be one of the main targets of the upcoming operation.

Recently, some factions of the SNA announced that their militants had completed a training course as a part of the ongoing preparations for the upcoming operation against the SDF.

Turkey will not be relying only on its proxies. In the last few days, the Turkish military deployed large reinforcements, including battle tanks and armored personnel carriers, in northeastern Syria.

The upcoming operation will further destabilize northern and northeastern Syria. The SDF may receive support from the Damascus and its allies who oppose Turkey’s plans.

I thought the SDF were joined with the US so the US should help them out against Turkey. That would be interesting. But of course the US abandoned this area when it was likely Turkey was going to attack the Kurds but the SAA and Russia moved in taking over the abandoned US bases. I wonder if perhaps the US has given the green light to Erdogan so that they attack the SAA as well cleaning up their mess they left behind and removing Russia/SAA from the area, Surely the Kurds must be able to see that the US will abandon them , as they have done several times in the past , as soon as it suits them to leave the Kurds . The Kurds as they have also done in the past will then go crying to Assad for protection.

The Turks wont’ be able to remove Russia from the area. If they attack Russian forces, Russian air power will wipe them out.

The Turkish soldiers are poorly trained and poorly motivated conscripts. Therefore they will not give it their all in a fight. They won’t risk their lives. They will take it easy and may even try to make it look good for Erdogan.

As long as the Syrians and Russians give them easy routes to retreat from SDF advances the Turkish soldiers won’t put up much of a resistance.

They know Russia can destroy their entire country, Russia has better weapons and training and dominance of the battlefield with air power. The don’t want to fight in conditions like that where they will have high casualties.

The Syrians on the other hand are fighting for their lives and homeland will fight to the death if necessary. Many have had family members murdered by the CIA, Saudi, Israeli, ISIS alliance. If they lose they will likely die. This makes them a highly motivated and effective fighting force.
