Leader of the al-Sharqiyah Martyrs Gathering, Abu Khula, announced on October 28 that he had dissolved his armed group and handed over all of its weapons and vehicles to the military judiciary in the Euphrates Shield (ES) area in the northern Aleppo countryside.
“Due to the deterioration of my health, and because of some criminal acts, which were carried out by some groups of some factions, and blamed on the al-Sharqiyah Martyrs Gathering, I announce the compete dissolve of the al-Sharqiyah Martyrs Gathering,” Abu Khula said in a video message explaining his decision.
Later, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) revealed that Turkey and several Free Syrian Army (FSA) groups had pressured Abu Khula to make this decision in order to punish him for launching a unauthorized attack on the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the village of Tadef, which is covered by a de-escalation agreement.
During the attack, which occurred on July 5, Abu Khula and his fighters captured Tadef after killing and injuring several Syrian soldiers. Back then, sources close to the Sharqiyah Martyrs Gathering said that the attack was aimed at supporting the militants in southern Syria, who were struggling to stop the SAA’s advance there.
Abu Khula and his fighters withdrew from the village few hours later on the same day. However, it appears that Turkey is not willing to tolerate anyone who dare to disobey its orders in the ES-held area.
The punishment of Abu Khula will likely send a strong message to other FSA groups in northern Syria, especially that many of them are now violating the deconfliction agreement on the governorate of Idlib, which was approved by Turkey.

No-one should think that this helps Syria recover … these terrorist scum will do what they have been doing for years – simply move to a new group or rebrand. The only small positive is the handing over of weapons but I suspect these are readily available via US-NATO etc for those who wish to fight SAA & allies.
These deconfliction agreements have usually been partially implemented after being agreed to, and then fully implemented by a combination of negotiation and force as needed. Sometimes little or no force has been used, and sometimes force has been the primary tool. Idlib is the most complicated of all the deconfliction areas because of all of the terrorist relocation to it. It will take time to clear.
The Syrian government coalition isn’t using up a lot of man power and equipment in active hostilities in Idlib so far. Which provides an opportunity to prepare for clearing northern Syria. An air power upgrade will be helpful. But it’s the land forces that are going to have to advance under it against another large NATO supplied and probably GCC funded land force.
The SDF is obviously sand bagging against Isis in the Abu Kamal area. It would have been cleared long ago if they wanted it cleared. The SDF has been built for years to fight the Syrian government coalition in a land war with NATO air support. As part of the effort to partition Syria. Once that air support is weakened by the strengthening Syrian air defense system and air force. It doesn’t automatically destroy the SDF. The terrorists fought for years without any air support. Even with partial air support, the SDF can still put up a big fight. What really needs to be done is to withdraw support for the NATO presence in Syria by Syria’s neighbors that are permitting it. So that they lose their access. Without that northern Syria is going to be a repeat of clearing the terrorists out of the areas cleared so far west of the river.
Fewer Syrian deaths and less destruction is good. On the surface Erdogan appears to be helping out but still do not trust him. Do not understand your SDF sandbagging comment. SDF is not responsible for eliminating ISIS west of the Euphrates. Russia-Syria-Iran have not even attacked the huge ISIS base just west of Abu Kamal and have resupplied the spec of an ISIS base in the south. SDF slaughtered thousands of ISIS fighters clearing the border with Iraq and kill more everyday while they fight their way north along the east side of the Euphrates. It appears Russia-Syria-Iran is paying ISIS to fight SDF-US.
Of course the SDF is sandbagging. The longer this ISIS held area east of the river exists, the more support they get from the US. And also gives the coalition an excuse to stay in Syria.
Kurds and Yankees are stalling as always as you say. It gives them the fig-leaf of “legitimacy” for being there.

The SDF hasn’t cleared a strip of land east of the river that would complete the clearing process in their self appointed area of responsibility. That would end NATO’s self appointed justification for being in Syria with their respective citizens.

Abu Kamal is west of the river. There is a huge ISIS base just west of there. Assad is responsible for clearing that base but refuses to even attack it.
Tired of hearing US will leave when ISIS is eliminated. US will not leave until Assad, Iran and Russia leave. I didn’t write that the US would leave once that area on the east bank of the river is cleared of Isis. I wrote that their justification for staying would be over. Which is why it’s not being cleared. Because once it is. The pressure on the US to get out will increase.
I haven’t seen anything to corroborate your assertion that there’s a huge Isis base west of Abu Kamal. Syria Civil War Map shows that area completely cleared, SF doesn’t. SF doesn’t claim that there’s a huge Isis base there, just that the area hasn’t been completely cleared.
You’re ignoring all of the current advances that the Syrian government coalition is making on the ground and in the air with the Russian deployment to Idlib, the weapons and fighters withdrawing from there, the stop in IAF attacks on Syria from the air defense upgrade, and the Syrian government mopping up operations in the southern desert, including south of Dier Ezzor. The war and front lines are far from static. Everything is moving on the ground and in the air in the Syrian government’s favor.

There are only 2,000 US troops in Syria. They’re not even fighting Isis. The SDF is taking all of the casualties. The only thing keeping the Syrian government west of the river. Have been US air strikes when they’ve tried to advance east of the river without air cover. Upgrading Syria’s air defense system and air force will change that.
The US doesn’t want to start losing planes and pilots to Russian equipment, particularly when it’s not operated by Russians. 75% of NATO missiles never made it to their targets in the last strike according to the Russian military. And that was before the air defense upgrades.
NATO can try to lie their way out of losing missiles. Planes and pilots would be a lot more difficult. There’s almost no public support in the US for an escalation of the Syrian war.
