Turkey, France and the U.S. are planning to reconstruct the Syrian Elite Forces (SEF), a Free Syrian Army (FSA) group, and deploy it on the Syrian-Turkish border east of Euphrates River as an alternative for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mehdi al-Jaila, leader of the SEF told the Hammurabi’s Justice News blog on December 28.
The blog, which is well-known for its close ties to the US-led coalition, has not provided additional information about the Turkish-French-American plan so far. Furthermore, the SDF is yet to comment on al-Jaila’s statement.
The SEF is the military wing of the Syria’s Tomorrow Movement (STM), which is headed by opposition figure Ahmad Jarba. Since its formation in 2016, the armed group has been working with the SDF under the command of the US-led coalition.
Last May, the SDF attacked a unit of the SEF after it refused to hand over its weapons. The conflict was seen as an attempt to neutralize the Arab group.
Jarba has very close ties to Egypt and Saudi Arabia. However, he resumed his relations with Turkey recently and made several trips to the country, where he discussed the future of the Syrian-Turkish border, according to Syrian opposition sources.
It’s not clear yet if the supposed plan will be supported by Egypt, Saudi Arab or even the SDF who are currently closer to the axis of the Damascus government.

Saggers? Never saw any Sagger in vids from Syria. Konkurs or Kornets yes, but not Saggers or Swatters. They are systems made in the 1960s.

Not going to happen. Turkeys have an incompetent military as was shown at Abu-Kamal and Al-Bab a few years when they lost the entire tank battalion to Kurds who were mostly armed with RPG’s and a few Saggers. Now they will be facing a battle hardened SAA and most likely Hezbollah who are armed with the most deadly modern ATGM and the hilly terrain favors them. The 2016 al-Bab offensive, also known as laughably Operation Day of Wrath (like Zionist operation in Lebanon), was launched on the Syrian–Turkish border against YPG units supported by SAA and ended as a ”crippling defeat” and a ”Bay-of-Pigs-style embarrassment.

So what did go so wrong there? We can see in most of the videos that the tanks are advancing over open terrain on their own, without infantry support, and their opponents are able to shoot at the weak side armor. What that demonstrates is simply that the Turkish army lacks decent training and experience in combined arms warfare and its officer corps has been decimated by Erdogan’s purges and most Turkish conscripts simply don’t have the motivation to fight. The situation in now much worse as the Turks face a resurgent SAA backed up with cutting edge ATGM’s and they know how to use them.

Close ties to the Saudi’s but went to Turkey to discuss the future of the Syrian-Turkish border, according to Syrian opposition sources, that doesn’t alarm you either, he didn’t say he’d discussed it with the US/Syrians/Russians/French, just the Turks, that means he’s been sucking you know who’s you know what, that’s all. As I said before, US is dumping Kurds as puppets and going back to using Turkey. As part of the deal they expect Turkey to cancel the S-400 deal with Russia and go back to doing the bidding of the Anglo-Zionist empire. With the US out of Syria, there is not an effective combat force present on the west side of the Euphrates. Between the french, the Turks and the FSA, they would be lucky to hold the territory they hold now, which appears ever more doubtful, as Syria restores its diplomatic ties in the region, mops down what is left of ISIS, and begins to recapture its borders.
Turkey is the largest and most serious threat to Syrian sovereignty, but Syria could always support the kurds and unleash them on the turks within the ranks of the SAA affiliate forces.
