On September 12, a senior Free Syrian Army (FSA) commander told the Reuters news agency that Turkey has stepped up weapon supplies to militants in northern Syria to help them to fend off an expected attack by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies.
“They pledged complete Turkish military support for a long, protracted battle … These arms supplies and munitions will allow the battle to extend and ensure our supplies are not drained in a war of attrition,” Reuters quoted the FSA commander, who recently met with Turkish officials, as saying.
According to the commander, the weapons, which includes ammunition and Grad rockets, were delivered to armed groups in the northern Syrian governorate of Idlib and in the areas around it over the last few days.
“They [militants] are getting new shipments of munitions — they don’t need more than munitions … The Turks are making sure they have enough munitions that keep them going for a long while,” a second FSA commander told Reuters.
During the last two weeks, Russia and Syrian warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on militant positions in northwestern Syria. In response, militants launched dozens of Grad rockets on civilian areas in northern Hama injuring and killing over 20 civilians, most of whom are women and children.
Local observers believe that Turkey is attempting to deter the SAA and its allies by supplying weapons that can threaten civilians in the government-held areas. If confirmed, such action by the Turkish side will pose a serious challenge to the Astana process, which has already failed to reach a roadmap on Idlib.
Erdogan shows his true colours in support of Salafist Islamic Jihad
If confirmed,
if confirmed??r u on drugs??? his whole political career and doings were based on salafist islam..mornon donkey….without turkey they would never have been this war in syria
Pot, sorry, but I blocked you. It’s pity, but you can’t insult the others.
Exactly. Sounds like poo talk to me. Just like the story about the turkish military crossing the border.
Ergogan is not on my ” good guys” list but some will use anything, just about everything to boost the ‘morale’ of the terrorists.
I retract this comment based on my reading at “Moon of Alabama”. The situation changes very quickly. Erdogan better wake up as he only has two hands. If he screws his neighbors he’s done.
He’s already confirmed it and one fine day and soon, Turks will discover just how much money Erdogan together with his Cabinet and his (then) Prime Minister together with their sons, brothers, cousins, uncles actually made from the ISIS Terrorists stealing Syrian Oil & Gas resources and shipping it out to the World AND specifically to Israel through Turkey. Erdogan’s family acted as brokers for sale of these Syrian Peoples’ Resources and paid kickbacks directly to ISIS as they also shipped weapons to them ………. and not just ISIS! Also, HTS / al-Qaeda / al-Nusra. Long before Turks get to know this, the whole world will know.
Past tense. Stay in the now.
not the first time….
There are lots of disinformation from Zionists regarding Turkey. So comments with care. If Erdogan creates chaos in north west Syria so who will get benefit? Definitely Zionists in the whole world while Erdogan is a genius president and he cannot do this to help Zionists.
Lol this is why you never trust turk scumbags. Good luck with your idlib campaign ~
yes never trust turk never,, you idiot chicken shit
You are the person referred to in the comment above.
Mustafa, Erdogan is trying to make a deal with the russians and the iranians?
As I have said before you should never trust Erdogan.Remember Turkey support the jihadist onslaught against SAA for years. They were begging to have President Assad removed. They will never be allies of Syria nor of Russia and Iran.
OFCOURSE they do………..and now russia gave them more time…hilarious……
i told u whats going on..i wont bother anymore……donkeys……the agenda counts u moronic human beiings
You won’t bother anymore? Promise? But I guarantee you’re not true to your word. Because a narcissist such as you can’t help yourself.
Always happy to hear your OPINION.
The Idlib terrorists already have plenty of weapons, more of the same would have little effect on deterring clearing operations in the Idlib kill box where 80,000 Jew world order terrorists have been herded to die, surrender or relocate if the US controlled SDF will take them. Coming from a lying Jew world order media outlet like Reuters, this report may be part of a NATO psyop to stir up trouble.
then look at the videos posted at almasdarnews.com ….several already…huge turkish military convoys..including tanks, artillery…i mean huge…one alone 300+ vehicles..check it out
Like your disinfo about 8,000 dead Egyptians in a single day? Post a link.
OK. Checked it out. I could not find any trace of the videos you claimed. I did find articles reporting (opposition reports of) Turk convoy movement near the northern border. Moon of Alabama writes that these are merely reinforcement of the Turk border defenses, and I have not seen anything to suggest otherwise.
The Turkish military has occupied Idlib surrounded by redoubts that serve as observation posts in agreement with some members of the Syrian government coalition, that are on the edge of the occupied territory just across the front lines from government held territory. They’re moving convoys through opposition force held areas all of the time to supply these outposts. They probably have air clearance also.
That’s the primary reason for these convoys. The extent to which they’re supplying the rebels and terrorists with weapons is open to debate. And they don’t need uniformed and badged military convoys to do it, which would only be evidence of war crimes.
No rush, just keep on with the intelligence led strikes. The terrorists can’t run and they can’t hide.
Maybe they’l leave Idlib and go to Afrin on their way to pick up SDF uniforms in Manbij.
More than likely, then the Kurds will probably end up having to have to fight them, when their women start getting raped and young boys sodomized.
That’s only where they have free reign to get away with it. They’ve run out of those places in Syria. The Turks are all over Idlib and Afrin preventing those types of excesses. And your right, it wouldn’t be allowed in SDF areas either.
Exactly. Just more targets for the Su-24’s, Su-25’s, Su-30’s, Su-35’s and also the Syrian Arab Airforce.
Most likely some Kaliber cruise missiles and strikes from long range stand-off bombers too.
Idlib is finished. It wont even be a big, protracted battle. Once the awesome Syrian Arab Armies Tiger Division and 4th Armored division punch through, it will be a mop- up operation.
What Arab army ?none left what you got is a lot of criminal Killing your own people
The Syrian Arab Army, the one that’s rolling up the acres all over Syria. Also Hezbollah whom are Arab.
Let me guess, you are some kind of butthurt Turk, are you not?
of course you do ,with Somebody’s help Using Illegal Chemical to kill your own people
No , the real chemicals are being saved for Israel, and maybe Turkish soldiers if they don’t get the hell out of Syria.
Now go away little child.
I love to see you try .I don’t think you know anything about turk .you will beg for mercy
Russia is doing mistake by accepting Ceasfire from turkey request they are arming this terriost in that ceasefire . Russia and sAA should not stop bombing in border area.
FSA gearing up to fight Syria or SDF again?
Strange, in that the SDF fighters from East Ghouta and southern Syria who essentially gave up are joining the Syrian Arab Army to clear Idlib. This is just a bit of disinformation. The Turks wouldn’t dare cross that red line. They could be in for a bloody nose. Its enough the local Arab and ssyrian tribes are warning them of an all-out insurgency in support of the SAA,NDF, Hezbollah et al.
Turks want S_400’s and operation olive branch kicked the crap out of sdf
Fucking Turkish scum, this Erdogan for the first time in his life understood what does it mean to have a proxy army, as the American always have ones, and use them anywhere they need them. Now those Turkish Proxy FSA are very good ACE in the hand of Erdogan, he saw for the first time what does it means not to send your army to do your dirty work and that means that sending a Jihadists/FSA its awesome, they are dying not the Turkish Army, and there is no cost to it, and it feels good, and now that feeling is in Erdogan’s mind. He want’s more of them, that means giving a hand to the strongest of all there the HTS and he says to him self if I have all these and HTS on my side I will have a strong 15000 Jihadists anytimes I need, I can send them wherever I want when it comes to Kurdish problems or other ones. And that’s why the Dictator Erdogan’s wants to preserve these HTS terror groups to him self, and that’s why he asks for more time on the Summit in Tehran these days but Putin told him good, no support for Al-Qaeda and Erdogan exit there with his mouth closed and screwed in his ass. He plays dangerous game.
I’m coming around to the view that the spat between Turkey and the U.S. Is mostly cosmetic. Turkey wants the S-400 because they know the U.S. isn’t trustworthy but still Turkish military units maneuver in NATO exercises in the Black Sea. Turkey claims to have a huge issue with PKK/SDF terrorists yet they don’t fight them. The gas pipeline deal seems to be yet another way that NATO and the West play good cop bad cop with Russia: don’t punish Ukraine’s coup led hostile government too harshly and you can keep Nord Stream 2. Don’t hammer Idlib and Turkish stream goes forward. Let Israel have a free hand in Syria and Israel won’t enforce sanctions and you get nice visits from Netanyahu, marching in the Immortal regiment and playing nice. Don’t respond to the axis strike on Syria and you get a nice President Macron visit to the St.Petersburg economic forum, stroking Russia’s ego. Bad cop=endless sanctions. Ongoing United Nations Charter violations. Weapons to Ukraine. The Skripal affair. Poke and stroke. All seemingly designed to keep the Russians flatfooted, constantly doing risk/reward computations and delaying the day Moscow goes for full throttle confrontation over a miscalculation in the bad cop act. Turkey and Erdogan seem to be more and more just playing their role in this theatre of control.
Well, there’s the theatre of control and there is the real control of the operations theater, also called battlefield: https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/russian-military-accuses-rebels-of-picking-actors-for-future-chemical-weapons-attack/
Imperialist yankees are done, can say bye bye to the exceptionalism dream.
very well said, amongst many other bright ones this one is by far the most rational comment here. nothing is black and white and all moves have multiple motives. on my part I think Turkey never gave up on NATO and US/Israel, not a second.
You have no idea, Turkey needs Idlib to keep the Kurds from having access to the Mediterranean. If they get that there will be nothing stopping them declaring independence.
But no part of Idlib touches the Mediterranean. It falls something like 30km short at it’s closest. And Turkey’s Hatay province sits dead West of Idlib in it’s Northern reaches.
Assad is planning to reclaim Idlib and Hatay with the help of the YPG. In exchange for their assistance he will grant them autonomy and a terror corridor that will let them supply a revolution in Turkish Kurdistan. The whole reason Turkey is in Syria is to stop this terror corridor. Assad wants nothing less than the partition of Turkey and a Free Kurdistan cut up from its territory.
The militant factions in Idlib cannot strategically defeat the Syrian state – but NATO are apparently either eternal optimists or delusional – hoping that that if they can secure a militant Idlib base against Damascus in perpetuity, their fantasies of regime change may somehow happen down the road.
Turkey supplying terrorists. How “unusual.”
Turkey is interested in only one thing. Itself. If they think the Americans have a chance of helping them carve out a piece of Syria, then they will back their terrorist army. In this case Russia has the better hand. They can destroy (and have) the Turkish economy and end Erdogans attempts at empire without harming themselves. Expect Turkey to pass on bombing coordinates for those same supplies.
I like your optimism ! Especially the coordinates !
the wraps are off this sleazebag. who’s going to out him, the amis or the kurds or the russians or the iranians or the israelis or isis or… ?
I don’t know who will do it, but he is a dead man walking.
Thank you Mr. Erdogan
kill erdogan thats the best there is .
No, if you killed Erdogan the US would appoint one of theirs to rule Turkey, as they have done since WWII. Let the crazy fool think he can play the US off against Russia. Russia only saved him from the American coup, because he is a useful idiot.
We (USA) already tried that, and fortunately we failed. Erdogan is like Trump in some ways, not exactly appealing but there are worse (E.g., Fethula Gulen) waiting in the wings with full support from the Globalists.
what are the Russians thinking about right now?what a mistake it was to trust the Turks?Turky will eventually back stab them and fall in NATO’s arms again….
Be cool cyrillic, proceed with method, general staffs don’t trust anyone, only make plans and correct them in the practice.
Looks like Erdogan is playing a double game with everyone. He will likely come to regret his treachery as the next step will probably be for Assad to make a deal with the Kurds, to screw both Turkey and the US.
Err Dawg is Sun the Beach. This just confirms it.
US elections is a key factor. You do not want to disgrace Trump before the elections, which case he will hit hard no matter what. He needs the majority incongress otherwise he will be impeached. So, SAA will most likely wait until the elections are over before attempting to take on Idlib. Until then, while NATO/Allies send reinforcements to anti-Assad psychopats, Russia and Iran will keep bombing here and there, both to dissuade the other about Idlib mission. After the elections, I say, Syria War Take -2.
Erdogan is a state sponsor of terrorism and an enemy of the Russian state.
