Ankara-led forces (the Turkish Amred Forces and Turkish-backed militant groups) have declared a military zone (an orange area at the map above) near the strategic Syrian city of Azaz in the northern part of Aleppo province. Azaz is controlled by Turkish-backed militants mixed with Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) terrorists and remains a major and important logistical hub at the Syrian-Turkish border.
According to reports, the Ankara-led forces are going to take control of the vilalge of Akhtarin and nearby areas, pushing towards the town of Mare (Mari). The advance will be reportedly launched from the Al-Rai axis. If this is done, the Ankara-led forces will consolidate the militant-controlled areas between Azaz and Al-Rai and strengthen their positions at the Syrian-Turkish border, significantly.
