On March 26, the Turkish Defense Ministry announced that Turkish and Russian forces had conducted a first patrol in the area of Tal Rifat in northern Syria.
“Within the framework of the previous agreement, the Turkish Armed Forces and the Russian Armed Forces carried out the first independent but coordinated patrol in order to achieve ceasefire, provide stability in the Tal Rifat area and prevent attacks on our elements,” the Defense Ministry said in a Twitter post.
Therefore, Russia and Turkey have still not launched really ‘joint’ patrols at the contact line between areas controlled by the so-called ‘opposition’ and the government.
The patrols reportedly covered the following areas: Kafr Lusin and Al-Dana in northern Idlib, Atarib in western Aleppo, and Qammari and Al-Eiss in southwestern Aleppo.
Another important point that these patrols covered mostly calm areas. Most of the ceasefire violations are taking place in northern Hama and southern Idlib.
Russia continue pleasing Turkey. So, the partition of Syria is now clear and obvious.

Though disagree with you about Russia being equally criminal; without their interference wouldn’t Syria be gone already? There is something about Russia that is different. I lived in russia for 5 years and been the last 30 years in and out maybe as much so russia for me is a second home beside most of my friends are russians that we crew up together on the island I grown up, and my family been in business with russians for many generations, so I also used to think just like you. I did not know Russia had anything to do with the Turkish mercenaries occupying Afrin. With all my reading half the nights I missed that. Much sense in your comment and the many reactions to it. Still, for me the question remains where is the Russian national interest in all of this if it makes the whole world doubt the value of Russia as an ally. No doubt the Kremlin critters will feel themselves pretty smart when they play these games, but how smart is it really to expose your weakness to this extent–especially in the Middle East. Remember Hillary’s memo, the whole Syrian tragedy started in a large part with the perception of Russian weakness, leading the Dark Throne to estimate that ousting Assad was something they could probably get away with.

Everyone was worried about the US deciding to stay in Syria [including me], but maybe it’s just as well they did. Putin’s had a bad habit of bartering off bits and pieces of Syria to Erdogan, and this seems a bit like what happened in Idlib before the Turks took over, so I really hope there’s not going to be another one of those Putin/Erdogan deals put on the table soon, since Putin’s the only one who ever abides by those agreements, Erdogan just treats them like toilet paper and does what he wants anyway. But he hasn’t done that with Trump yet, so the US troops that remain in Syria may yet serve some small purpose that actually suits Assad, I know I’d prefer to have just 200 US troops here for even if it meant a few more years of US occupation, I’d rather that than 2,000 Turkish soldiers and 20,000 of their proxies indefinitely camped in northern Syria, I’m guessing Assad feels the same way too. Poor Assad, his enemies beat him up every time they see him, and then his so called best friend quickly sells his possessions while he’s unconscious. And unfortunately unlike Idlib, where Assad could have done something to stop it happening [that’s if he’d seen it coming], here in Ar Raqqah and Al Hasakah, he won’t be able to do a damn thing, only Trump will be able to stop the Turks. If anyone’s counting on Putin to do anything at all to halt a possible Turkish invasion of northern Syria, LOL, just remember how Idlib worked out.
