Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on July 24 that Ankara is not satisfied with the recent U.S. proposals on the establishment of a safe zone in northeastern Syria.
“New U.S. proposals on a Syria safe zone are not at all satisfactory for Turkey,” Cavusoglu said at a press conference after meeting his Nicaraguan counterpart, Denis Moncada Colindres, according to the Anadolu Agency.
The Turkish minister also stressed that that Ankara and Washington need to reach an agreement on northeastern Syria safe zone, as soon as possible. He noted that Turkey has “run out of patience.”
A day earlier, the Turkish Ministry of National Defence announced that Turkish and U.S. military committees began new talks on northeastern Syrian safe zone in Ankara. The ministry said that the talks will last for several days.
Turkey’s border with northeastern Syria witnessed an unusual escalation recently. The Turkish military stuck on July 23 several positions of US-backed Kurdish forces in response to a mortar attack on the southern Turkish city of Sanlıurfa.
During the last two years, the U.S. and Turkey held several talks on the future of northeastern Syria. All the talks ended up with a failure. Cavusoglu’s statement indicates that the new talks are heading towards a similar end.

Surprise, surprise. SDF will give way very slowly on safe zones, always demanding turkish and us concessions, hoping US Turkey relations will explode before they make too many concessions.
On the other hand. Watch Al Bukamal and Mayadin. IS is concentrating forces there while Iran is moving out, at least partially. SAA has no crack forces available to replace them.
If and when IS takes that region, US will urge SDF to drive IS out, giving heavy weapons and political support, even against Turkey.
Reports are ongoing of fighting within Mayadin. Who against whom? Correct reports?
Al Masharec out of Egypt, with local reporters, reports Iranian proxies are driving out civilians from Deiri region, al Bukamal, hampering all reconstruction. Civilians partly fleeing to SDF region, the only region within Syria with visible reconstruction and improvement of living conditions.
The reports on proxy behaviour are supported elsewhere.
Burying bodies in Raqqah is not reconstruction.

Turkey has no say In Syria future Turkey will be destroyed like it happened long ago whit ottoman empire. If Kurdish forces starts attack inside Turkey the economy of Turkey will totally collapse, their revenue is 60% from tourism, if you cut out tourists they will beg for PEACE
I would rather Turkey having a say on Syria’s future instead of U.S.
Turkey’s economy did collapse when they invaded Cyprus. But they did not stop. They probably won’t stop again.
Russia too, did not stop (and eventually got put under heavy economic sanctions) when pro-nazi people threatened to kill all pro-Russia people in eastern Ukraine.
So, stop uttering the B.S that is “economy bla bla, so they can’t”.
I would prefer that Syria have some influence in the future of Turkey. The US will punish Turkey, and support with Israel the Turkish Kurds.
The share of tourism with in Turkish GDP is %10,6. And almost half of this 10.6 consists of domestic tourists. Where did you get that 60% ?
There are no ‘ Kurdish forces’ left inside TR , they are either dead are all fleed to Syria / Iraq. The remaining number in TR is estimated to be around 1200 to 1300 people , they can only attack in groıups of 2 or 3 people due to UAVS regularly patrolling the mountains.
And whatever you may say with anger, TR one of the major players in Syria. First you have to address the facts corretly so that you can find a realistic solution.
Seeing Turkey’s operation in Iraq, its obivious they are cutting the link between PKK – YPG. I doubt any operation will be launched on Syrian territory against YPG before PKK is cut off from YPG.
And that, I’d say, is still have some work to do. My guess; 1 year.
