The level of a terrorist threat in Turkey has increased after the recent attacks, the Izvestiya newspaper reported, citing Turkey’s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim.

Thursday morning, the third explosion in the past 24 hours rocked eastern Turkey. As result four security personnel were killed and seven others wounded in Bitlis province. Before that, two car bombings targeted police stations, killing at least six people and wounding 290 others.

According to Hurriyet Daily News, a village’s guard was killed and a soldier was wounded during clashes with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKK) rebels in the village of Nazar. After that, a military vehicle was damaged by a hand-made explosive on a road near the village of Gayda. As result, three soldiers were killed and six others were wounded.

Earlier on Thursday, a police headquarters in the eastern Turkish city of Elazig was hit by a car bombing. According to local Governor Murat Zorluoglu, at least three police officers were killed. Turkey’s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim added that 217 others were wounded in this attack.

At Wednesday’s evening, a police officer and two civilians were killed in another car bombing attack on a police station in the eastern province of Van, near the Iranian border. According to AP, at least 73 people, including 53 civilians, were wounded during the attack.

Turkish authorities blamed the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) for both attacks.
