On February 15, a convoy of the Turkish Army, consisting of several armored vehicles, bulldozers and trucks, entered the northern governorate of Idlib, according to Syrian opposition sources.
The Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS)-linked news agency Iba’a and the Turkish Anadolu Agency confirmed that the Turkish Army convoy will establish an observation post in the village Sarman in the southern Idlib countryside.
A unit of the Turkish Army conducted a reconnaissance mission around the city of Maarrat al-Nu’man and in the villages of Sarman and al-Ghadfa southeast of it on February 14.
Previously, the Turkish Army established two similar observation post in the town of al-Eis in the southwestern Aleppo countryside and in the village of Tell Tuqan in the southeastern Aleppo countryside.
The fourth Turkish observation post will likely be established around Khan Shaykhun town, 20km south of Maarrat al-Nu’man, next week. According to Tukey’s Presidential Spokesman Ibrahim Kalin, Russia and Turkey agreed to establish twelve observation posts in northern Syria during the Astana talks.
In a related development, an unnamed official of HTS told Iba’a that the Taftanaz airbase will not be handed over to the Turkish Army. The official also revealed locals had removed the wreckage of Syrian helicopters from the airbase on February 14 and said that HTS had returned the wreckage to the airbase on the same day.

Intended or not, the Turkish purchase of S-400 is working out like a masterstroke of NATO. The Russian elite was probed for weakness, and unsurprisingly it was noted that they’re bisnismeny first and foremost. So for a couple measly billion, Turkey is now the THIRD country (besides IL/US) that can Balkanize and gobble up Syria with impunity.
