The Turkish military uncovered hundreds of improvised-explosive devices (IEDs) and rocket launchers during a recent “search and sweep”operation in the areas it occupies in northeast Syria.
In an official statement released on November 20, the Turkish Ministry of National Defence said that the weapons were found in a single story building converted to a weapons production facility near the border town of Ras al-Ayn.
“In the ensuing search, 288 tripod-mounted and 395 unmounted rocket launchers were captured, making a total of 683. In the same building, 45 units of IED casings, and 48 claymore type IED casings were found, totaling 93,” the ministry’s statement reads.
The Turkish Ministry of National Defence also released several photos of the seized IEDs and rocket launchers, which appeared to be newly-made.
Ras al-Ayn was a key stronghold of the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The Kurdish-led group lost the town last month following weeks of heavy clashes with Turkish-backed militants.
More on this topic:
a daring guess is that it’s the unhinged morons from washington dc that provided the stuff to the sdf – any reason for turkey to hold back in the effort to de-kurdify syrias north east and I bet syria and assad will concur!
Looking at the pics yeah totally Washington’s stuff
Pity they could not be used properly and useful, but hopefully they have some more in Turkey if needed . No joke, this tells you how correct SDF really is , they did not use it because there was a deal, that Turkey did not held, was not intending to keep, as proven.
Looks like they found a factory producing the hardware. An IED is only workable with the explosives, same as mortars. Where are these?
for sure, they are hidden somewhere.
Come on… nobody really thought we (the US) were delivering construction materials to the Kurds to be wasted on buildings, did they? I wonder if the Green Berets have a welding specialist on their A-teams now? That looks like some pretty quality work (er, for an IED and rocket launcher). Way better than that poorly-welded inferior head-chopper crap.
Now if we only had some plausible, humanitarian excuse to transfer tons and tons of C-4 to the Kurds without arousing any suspicion…
