Early morning of June 27, unidentified gunmen attacked a checkpoint of the so-called Syrian National Army (SNA) near the town of Hamam al-Turkman in the northern Raqqa Governorate.
According to several sources, the gunmen targeted the militants, who were manning the checkpoint. The attackers were armed with assault rifles and hand guns.
Some opposition sources reported that a militant of the SNA’s al-Sharqiyah Army had been killed and another one had been injured as a result of the attack. However, different sources reported that up to three had been killed.
The al-Sharqiyah Army acknowledged that one of its militants had been killed in the attack. The slain militant was identified as “Ahmad al-Abd.”

Last month, an improvised explosive device stuck a vehicle of the SNA’s Ahrar al-Sharqiyah in northern Raqqa. Three militants were killed and two others were injured. So far no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The recent attacks on Turkish-backed militants in the northern Raqqa Governorate may be related to the never ending internal conflicts between the SNA’s factions.
