The Syrian National Army (SNA) has uncovered two vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs) in Turkish-occupied areas in northern and northeastern Syria.

The first VBIED was uncovered on September 18 in the town of Kafr Janneh in the eastern part of Afrin in the northern Aleppo countryside. The vehicle was reportedly laden with 75 kg of high-explosives.

On September 19, the second VBIED was uncovered by SNA militants in the vicinity of the town of Tell Abyad, which is located in the northern countryside of Raqqa.

SNA sappers managed to dismantle the two VBIEDs. The vehicles were apparently meant to be used in attacks in Afrin and Tell Abyad.

Turkish-occupied areas in northern and northeastern Syria experienced a series of bombings over the last year. Dozens of civilians and Turkish-backed militants were killed or injured. In some cases, Turkish service members were among the casualties.

Kurdish forces are usually blamed for these bombings. Some Kurdish guerrilla groups, Like the Afrin Liberation Forces, are known for carrying out attacks in Turkish-occupied areas. However, there is still no evidence linking these groups to the recent wave of bombings.
