Three journalists working for the Syrian state’s news channel were injured while they were covering a battle between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Turkish forces in northern al-Hasakah.
The Syrian state TV said that reporter Fadel Hamad and cameramen Walid Ibrahim and Mohamad Khalid were targeted on November 9 by a battle tank of the Turkish Armed Forces. Hamad sustained a serious wound in his right leg, while the injures of Ibrahim and Khalid were less significant.
The Hawar News Agency (ANHA) released a photo of Hamad leaving Tell Tamr hospital after receiving treatment. The journalist was wearing a body armour with a clear “press” sign, that should have been noticed by Turkish forces.
The Turkish-led attack in northern al-Hasakah began in the early morning, with militants of the so-called Syrian National Army (SNA) attacking government forces in the region.
The Turkish Ministry of National Defence has not yet commented on the incident so far. The attack is a violation of international laws.
