A unmanned combat aerial vehicle has crashed after taking off from Batman Air Base in the Turkish Southeastern Anatolia Region that borders with northern Syria.
The 14th Drone Systems Base Command under the Turkish Air Force is located at this particular airbase.
According to Turkish sources, the incident was caused by some kind of technical malfunction and the investigation into it is ongoing.
The Turkish military provided no details into the type of the crashed UCAV, but photos from the ground allow to identify it as the Bayraktar TB2.
According to Syrian sources, Turkey lost at least 13 UCAVs: 6 Anka-S and 7 Bayraktar TB2 during the recent escalation in Syria’s Greater Idlib region. Nonetheless, this number is yet to be confirmed by photo and video evidence.
