On June 23, a Turkish Otokar Cobra infantry mobility vehicle came under an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on the road between the towns of al-Bab and al-Rae in the Syrian province of Aleppo.
While pro-government sources claim that the vehicle was operated by the Turkish military, this is yet to be confirmed. Over the past years, Turkey has supplied dozens of Cobra vehicles to militant groups that it supports. Therefore, the targeted vehicle may have been operated by some pro-Turkish militants.
Recently, Kurdish rebels affiliated with the People’s Protection Units (YPG) have intensified their attacks on Turkish-backed militant groups in northeastern Syria, including the areas of Afrin and Al-Bab.
Such is life in the wild lands of Turkish democracy.
Interesting Turkey uses the old models of equipment. Knowing the potential casualties, it is actually a good way to renew the park
