On October 21, a Turkish TAI Anka-S combat drone was spotted over the town of Kobane in Syria’s northeastern region.
Syrian activists shared a photo of the combat drone that was apparently conducting an armed reconnaissance mission over the town, which is held by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The drone was armed with at least two MAM-L laser-guided small-diameter munitions, which were made by Turkey’s defense giant ROKETSAN.
since two hours and many #Turkish drones have been flying in different areas from N #Syria, one of them over munbij city and its surroundings and the other over #Qamishlo city, more Turkish hostility in this region despite all the international agreements with #US and #Russia. pic.twitter.com/WAASfZkAgb

The Anka-S is the most advance version of the Anka drone family. This version is equipped with the Ctech DEV-KU-18 Mobile Satellite Communication Terminal.
Two days earlier, a Turkish combat drone carried out an airstrike on the center of Kobane. As a result, five people, including two fighters of the SDF, were killed. The target of the strike was a local official of the SDF’s Social Justice Committee.
The Turkish military keeps a close eye on Kobane, one of the SDF’s main strongholds in northeastern Syria. Several units of the Syrian Arab Army are currently deployed around the town.
According to recent reports, the Turkish military its preparing to launch yet another operation against Kurdish forces in Syria. The operation will supposedly take place in the countryside of Aleppo where Kobane is located.
