On January 18, a Turkish combat drone targeted a vehicle of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Syria’s northern region.

The vehicle, a pickup truck, was hit as it was passing near Ari fuel station on the road between the towns of al-Malikiyah and al-Qamishli in the northern countryside of al-Hasakah. The SDF-linked Hawar News Agency said that several people were wounded as a result of the strikes, including a civilian.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the driver of the targeted vehicle died of his wounds just a few hours after the strike.

Syrian opposition activists alleged that the target of the drone strike was a senior commander of the SDF. However, these claims are yet to be confirmed.

This was the fourth Turkish drone attack in northern Syria this year. All previous attacks targeted personnel or positions of the SDF.

On January 2, a combat drone targeted an alleged intelligence center of the SDF in the outskirts of al-Hasakah city. Two fighters of the group were killed and a third was wounded in the strike. On January 11, a drone targeted an SUV on the M4 highway, between al-Qamishli and the city of al-Hasakah. Back then, several SDF fighters were wounded. Later on January 15, Turkish combat drones carried out two strikes on a position of the SDF near the town of Amuda in the northern al-Hasakah countryside. The strikes caused some material losses. However, no causalities were reported.

Turkey, who is unable to launch a new ground operation in northern Syria due to the objection of both the United States and Russia, appears to be planning to continue its intense drone and artillery strikes against the SDF and its affiliates in the region.

Turkey should be nicer to Greece or Armenia and only fight terrorist groups like ISIS or PKK.

The Objective

The U.S. wants a Greek-Turkey war similar to the Ukrainian war to weaken Turkey militarily and politically to save its petrodollar system. Libya is the underbelley of this system.

Chris Gr

What does Libya have to do with this?
