The Libyan National Army have shot down another Turkish Bayraktar TB2 unmanned combat aerial vehicle in Libya. The incident reportedly happened late on April 16 near the area of Beni Walid.

LNA has now shot down 18 Turkish TB2 drones in the past 2 months in Libya. Pantsir-S1 seems to great in Libya.

was 24 two weeks a go…what you lost your counting again…not to worry

Peter Jennings

So, you do exist. I was beginning to wonder.

swedish_viking

No i haven’t lost count, in fact what i did was to count but i guess you didn’t. I only counted the ones shot down the since February 18 (past two months), the 24 figure was another time span.

But i did miss one downed TB2 and the correct figure should be 19.

Bob

Either way is double digits downed – from UAE supplied weapons against Turkish supplied weapons.

TTdr

Pantsir cost more than drones. Its better to shoot at the source where drones come from.

swedish_viking

Well the drones are very expensive if you put their cost against the cost of Pantsir-S1 ammunition. What source are you talking about? Do you suggest someone should attack targets in Turkey a NATO member?

TTdr

Depend what drones Turkey used. Some are cheap like the Huthus’s used to attack Saudi.

I mean hit the targets where these drones are housed & released in Libya.

Nato is a paid triads. Doubt Nato will bother for Turkey if someone strike it with unmarked missiles or drones. But Iran has proven, even USNato bases are attacked openly, they will not react if one is determined to retaliate with damaging weapons.

swedish_viking

I was only talking about TB2 drones which according to Wikipedia has a unit cost of US$5 million.

TTdr

That will worth more than 2 Pantsir missiles to bring down one.

swedish_viking

No it’s not. Pantsir isn’t S-400 or Patriot. Pantsir is rather cheap and built to be cheap to use with cheap missiles. There isn’t much information of the costs of missiles but many expect them to be in the sub US$100,000 range. With TB2 cost of US$5 million i think even S-400, S-300 and Patriot’s missiles cost less than that.

Perhaps the Turkish admin should rename their drones to prones? One thing is for sure, the Turkish admin have underestimated the LNA.

To date the Turkish admin have invaded Cyprus, Syria, and now Libya. They have pissed off the Greek nation too by trying to export their migrant problem. A problem which to some extent is self inflicted. Honest diplomacy seems to be a thing of the past for the current Turkish admin as they think invasion is the answer to everything. When one only has a hammer in one’s toolbox, everything becomes a nail.
