The Government of National Accord (GNA) operations room “Anger Volcano” announced on May 20 that its combat drones had targeted four Pantsir-S1 air-defense systems of the Libyan National Army (LNA).
Col. Mohamad Qununu, a spokesman for the operations room, said three of the systems were targeted in the vicinity of the town of Tarhunah, while the fourth щту was targeted near the town of al-Wishka.
The Libya al-Ahrar TV shared a video showing the destruction of two Pantsir-S1 systems near Tarhunah. Another video shared by a Turkish outlet, Clash Report, shows a third system being targeted on a road near the town.
Turkish sources shared a third video showing a drone strike on a warehouse near al-Wishka, where a fourth Pantsir-S1 system was allegedly stored.
The systems were apparently targeted by Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs). The GNA claims that the drones are being operated by its forces. However, local sources say that they are in fact operated by the Turkish military.
The UAE sent several of its own Pantsir-S1 air-defense systems, which are based on MAN trucks, in Libya last year in order to counter the threat of Turkish combat drones. It is still unclear if these systems are being operated by Emirati officers or by LNA personnel.

On May 18, GNA forces, backed by Turkey, captured the al-Watiya Air Base from the LNA. Inside the base, two Panstri-S1 systems, one damaged and the other completely destroyed, were found.
These recent setbacks have placed the LNA’s attack on the capital, Tripoli, on halt. The GNA and its backers, that have gained momentum, will likely increase their pressure on the LNA. A large operation to capture Tarhunah will reportedly be launched soon.

I only saw two activated Pantsir with the radar on and then later one Pantsir driving around. After that the image quality gets worse and some truck drives on a road with the watermark right over the truck and the watermark follows the truck so one can’t see if it’s an ordinary truck or a Pantsir system and then there looks like an explosion but the trucks continues to move forward and the sequence is cut. It then looks like an ATGM hits something under a metal roof, the location looks to be a bit from where they showed two Pantsirs earlier (it’s not hitting the exact location of the two Pantsirs but rather something under a roof not to far away). There is no information about what’s was under the metal roof. And then everything is under the watermark once again and one can’t see what happens. It’s almost like the choice of image mode and watermark in the first video are intentionally chosen to make it impossible to see anything interesting at all.

The third video all i see is a man walking into a building and then there’s an explosion in the building. I couldn’t make much out from those video clips but i didn’t see 4 Pantsir system being destroyed. Not really, these are mobile systems for a reason and should only be activated when phased array long range radars have identified a missile or aircraft threat and then the local radar on the Pantsir activates and deals with the threat and then the system should be moved to a safer location, preferably decoys and camouflage should be deployed. But these stupid morons treat these highly sophisticated AD systems as Toyota pickups and fire randomly and that is why they are easy to take out as there is no AAA cover.
Pantsir-S systems can be activated while moved, they can engage targets while moving. So i don’t understand why a lonely not activated Pantsir would be on a road when it can defend it self while moving.

The Russian Panstir is a multiple threat low altitude point defence system and perhaps the best in the world in the hands of capable operators. But the FACT is that I have already explained in detail that the Arabs in general are incompetent and do not know how to deploy a layered AD to face the multiple threats like armed drones and loitering ammunition which is part of the combat environment. The LNA lost these Pantsir systems because they did deploy manpads and rapid fire AAA to cover the Pantsir. Also Arabs have a tendency to keep the radars on which makes very easy to destroy the batteries with HARM and ARM anti radiation missiles. From personal experience, I can tell you that the Iraqis had the best European AD systems like Roland and Crotale, but the idiots also lacked fire discipline and left radars on and that made it a very target rich environment for Iranian F-4E armed with maverick, walleye and other ARM ammunition. Syrians made the same mistake a few months ago when the Zionist cunts took out a Pantsit battery as the stupid operator was taking a cigarette break with the system on. Professional militaries only activate the radars and electronic systems when there is an active identified threat and then fire and move the batteries which are mobile for a reason. Russian modern weaponry is the best value for money but since the EW environment and COMINT require educated officers and operators, the cannon fodder Arab or any third world military would largely be ineffective. To operate modern systems you need at least a undergraduate degree in hard sciences.
