The Turkish military and the so-called National Syrian Army (NSA) have captured the key border town of Tell Halaf in northeast Syria.
Turkish forces managed to secure the town in the morning of October 11 following several hours of heavy clashes with the Kurdish-dominated Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). After securing the town, Turkey-led forces captured the nearby village of Asfar Najar and the silos.
The NSA said that its fighters captured a pick-up truck armed with a 23mm gun from the SDF during the clashes inside Tell Halad.

By capturing Tell Halad, Turkish forces have reached the western entrance of Ras al-Ayn. The town is a key SDF stronghold, and one of the main targets of Operation Peace Spring, which was launched by Turkey earlier this week.
A day earlier, The Turkish military and the NSA crossed the border into northeast Syria and managed to establish footholds near Ras al-Ayn and the town of Tell Abyad, 120km to the west.
According to the Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, a total of 342 SDF fighters have been neutralized since the beginning of Operation Peace Spring.

Even if the Turks are successful in the annexation of these Syrian lands , the Moderate Headchoppers and common thieves who Erdogan says that he wishes to occupy this part of Syria will in a short time be ,again, steeped in internecine violence to determine the ‘right’ to plunder the spoils of war.
When all the spoils of war in the newly occupied lands have been stolen,the consequence of armed bands of brigands will quickly spill over into Turkey.
Perhaps this is the actual end game that Erdogan wishes for, as the Kurds whose homes and property within Turkey could be a ‘deniable’ target for the armed gangs that Erdogan is utilising.
A nasty ethnic cleansing by thieves and vagabonds of the Turkish Kurds can then be denied as being Turkish government policy that would incur the wrath of fellow NATO members.

No Turkey forces involved on the ground, or very few (some advisors/observers). Rather what’s left of anti Syria govt militias backed by Turkey after 5 years of being hammered e.g. in Aleppo. Turkey involvement is bombing and supplying material; e,g transport and ordnance. Turkey wants to put in the corridor any none Kurd militia, who they back and so control, in between Syria SDF and Turkey PKK.
