Security forces and the military neutralized 40 members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) across Turkey during the last week, the Interior Ministry said in a statement on July 23.
According to the statement, the Turkish military carried out 1,898 counter-terror operations on July 16-22, which involved both land and air forces. Government forces targeted PKK shelters in the southeastern provinces of Diyarbakir, Tokat and Hakkari.
Ankara is actively carrying out operations against the PKK across Turkey and in northern Iraq. Two large-scale military operations against another Kurdish armed group, the YPG, was also conducted in northern Syria.
