The Turkish intelligence has suspended the salaries allocated to the factions of the Syrian National Army (SNA), the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on March 30.
According to the London-based monitoring group, the Turkish intelligence has not paid Syrian militants for at least two months.
“The Turkish Intelligence had promised the factions operating under the banner of the Peace Spring operations room to grant them financial rewards after capturing Tell Abyad town on the Syrian-Turkish border in October, 2019, but these promises are yet to be fulfilled.” The SOHR said in a report.
A military source in the SNA told the SOHR that the suspension of salaries is likely an attempt to exert pressure on the SNA factions to accept the opening of crossings with government-held areas.
Last week, Russia announced a deal with Turkey to reopen three crossings with opposition-held areas in northern and northwestern Syria. The deal, which was denied by Turkish officials, has not been implemented, yet.
The SNA was formed in 2017 with direct support from Turkey. Today, the coalition rules over Turkish-occupied areas in northern and northeastern Syria. The coalition also maintains a limited presence in the northwestern region of Greater Idlib.
The Turkish intelligence maintains a strong influence over the SNA, which relies on its support. The coalition is a mere pawn in the hands of Ankara.
The toys of erdogan. The SNA should be grateful they have his name written on the bottom of their footwear.
I suppose that now this group isn’t paid, it will step up the robbery and theft.
Of course, it would be a great news, a pity that comes from the SOHR, you know, that guy who receives the fictional scripts from MI6.
Wut wut wuuuut ? I thought their only thirst was for Allah !!!!! not a bunch of spineless mercenary rapists !!! Was I lied to all along ?
Unfortunately that will probably just cause the terrorists to further pressure locals for ‘tax’. It’s always the weakest who end up paying the final bill.
hahahahhaha how do they even spend their money anyways? where are they storing their money which bank? so many questions
