The Turkish military and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have exchanged artillery fire in northern Aleppo. However, no ground attacks were launched.

Late on December 6, artillery units of the Turkish military and its Syrian proxies pounded the SDF’s positions in the town of Zur Mughar and in nearby areas. Kurdish forces responded within a few hours, shelling Turkish positions in the vicinity of the town of Brad.

“There are still not information about the size of the losses,” the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said in a report.

Following the exchange of artillery fire, the situation in northern Aleppo calmed down again. No clashes have been reported, so far.

Several units of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Russian Military Police are situated within Kurdish-led areas in northern Aleppo. These areas are hosting thousands of civilians, who were forcibly displaced by Turkish forces from Afrin in 2018.

Earlier this week, a Turkish artillery strike on the Kurdish-held city of Tell Rifaat claimed the lives of eleven civilians, eight of whom were children.

Tell Rifat dude that area is in 30km or 20ml deep peace corridor. Communist guerilla should have been already withdrawn. Including the ones wearing fake SAA uniforms. Russians know that very well from the agreement.
