The Syrian Army has repelled an attack by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) and other radical Idlib groups on the town of Naryab in the western part of Idlib province.
The attack supported by Turkey started early on February 11 as a part of the wider campaign to capture Saraiqb. Turkey provided the attack with a limited artillery support and a Syrian military helicopter was shot down by some ‘mysterious’ MANPAD. The Turkish Defense Ministry even claimed in an official statement via Twitter that the town had been captured. However, Turkish-backed forces failed to make and secure any real gains.

Pro-government sources claim that Naryab was a trap and the Syrian Army ambushed militants that entered the town. Regardless, the failure of the attack is another major fail for the Erdogan government in Idlib.
Additionally, government forces reportedly entered the areas of Khan al-Asal and Kafr Nouran, where clashes between the Syrian Army and militants erupted. Earlier, the Syrian Army liberated the Rashidin 4 district in western Aleppo from militants.
Meanwhile, airstrikes of the Syrian Air Force hit the area near Turkish positions near the village of Qaminas in eastern Idlib. Nonetheless, reports about supposed Turkish casualties in the strike remain unconfirmed.

Russia should do what right for the Russian people …. nobody else. How does Russia getting into a full blown war with a NATO member benefit Russians? Wars are costly. Every sortie, every missile, every bombs costs $thousands if not $millions. Warships off the coast cost $ hundreds of thousands a day to operate without even firing a shot. Even a skirmish with Turkey could cost into the $billions and if it gets out of control it could bring a world war.
That Turkish dictator needs to be taught a lesson so he doesn’t think the Ottoman empire can come back! War is not pretty but a line has to be drawn somewhere…This war has dragged on for way too long. Syria has to establish its authority and sovereignty for it to be able to establish elections in the future. It was the same in Lebanon when they had a civil war. It’s easy to say Turkey needs to be taught a lesson when it’s not your money being spent or your children tasked with teaching the lesson. Turkish-backed forces entered Nayrab but heavily pounded by the Syrian armyartillery and many of their Turkish equipment has been destroyed. According to sources the attack repelled so far.

I literally laughed out loud, for two minutes, I almost threw my guts out. Right, so you claim huge swaths of land of a different country as your own, enter it, send military, occupy… that’s all fine, but if some shells fall among your soldiers, it’s an act of war.
