Late on December 31, a rocket attack targeted a Turkish military base near the town of Zaylkan in Bashiqa district in the northern Iraqi province of Nineveh.
According to local reports, the Turkish military base was struck by four Grad 122 mm rockets. No casualties or material losses have been reported so far. The Turkish Ministry of National Defense has not commented on the attack, yet.
This was not the first attack on Zaylkan base. It was recently targeted on December 27, on November 19, on November 7.
The rocket attack may have been carried out by Iranian-backed forces who are frustrated with Turkey’s military presence and activities in the northern region.
However, the main suspects are fighters of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). The attack is likely a response to Turkey’s ongoing military operations in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
The military base is located 20 kilometers to the northeast of Mosul city and more than 60 km to the northwest of Erbil city, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.
The base was established by Turkish military back in 2015-2016, when Mosul was under control of ISIS militants. In 2016, Turkey deployed about 500 troops to the Bashiqa camp without an authorization from the Iraqi government, arguing that the move is aimed to prevent potential attacks by ISIS and the PKK militant groups. With the new escalation of Turkey’s fight against the PKK in Syria and northern Iraq, its military presence in the disputed Nineveh province is supposed to have significantly grown, despite multiple calls from Baghdad to withdraw from the area.
In April, the Turkish military and security forces launched Claw-Lightning and Thunderbolt operations to neutralize the remnants of the PKK in Metina, Zap and Avashin Basyan regions of Kurdistan. Ankara claimed that more than 500 fighters of the PKK have been killed, wounded or captured since the beginning of the operations.
And we see that Iraqis, Iraqi Kurds and Iranians are helping the Turks there.
Ah yes, we call people like you a rtd. “Since the Iraqi Army is forbidden by Iraqi law to enter the Kurdistan Region, the Peshmerga, along with their security subsidiaries, are responsible for the security of Kurdistan Region.”
Nor Iraqi army allow in Kurdistan nor Iranian back groups. You rtded fuk. Also, fuk Kurds and Turks as they are both suckers of Zion.
You are the biggest Zionist c********* idiot. Piss offf
Ohh boi, look what we have here. Bitch all you Zion pig.
Iraqi-Kurdish conflict in 2017, Iran and Turkey help the Iraqi government against the Kurds.
Rightfully so, what is your point? The land belongs to all Iraqis not “Kurds” yet it is not true at all. The Kurds are stealing Iraqi oil/gas and taking money and sending it to PKK/YPG. That’s why Turkey (MAINLY) with Iraq and Iran attack them. Which did make them think before acting like morons. Also, Iran killed Mossad/CIA/Kurds pigs in the Iraqi “Kurds hold area” of Iraq, you forgot about that? All of those countries have the right to attack their enemies. You understand why I call both Turkey and Kurds Zion’s pigs now.
Yeah but the government in Erbil is not pro-PKK at all.
Listen, the US very much controls most Kurd’s terrorist groups and you are wrong. The Kurds do work together, the Iranian and Turkey know this very clearly. Also, it is not just about Kurd terrorist groups, the “Iraqi Kurds” work with the CIA, MI6, and Mossad – which is a whole other story. Iran and Turkey both have a Kurdish population which the West can use as spies and stay up new terrorist groups such as PKK or YPG (if a war break-out), in Iran and Turkey. Kurds work under the same umbrella. The US is using all Kurds in M.E.
“Al Mayadeen’s sources report that SDF’s Leader, Mazloum Abdi, will be replaced by someone from without the spectrum of known PKK leaders.”
The funny thing is the US is running Kurds around. Tell you what I don’t care about them as much, they are weak like the Ex-Afghan government. Without yanquis they are dead, they are even sucking Zion cuck hoping they might make the US stay in Iraq and Syria in the long run.
The Kurds all of them fall apart once the US is out.
You are partly correct but there are some mistakes. The KRG allows Turkey to hit PKK. Also, the KRG were supported by Iran against Saddam.
Not sure where you get the Iranians being there from. Those Turkish outposts way out on their own far from backup suggest the locals do nothing to prevent resupply which doesn’t mean helping . Armored vehicles with mounted machine guns willing to give the locals a squirt are generally ignored as they pass through which doesn’t mean helping.
Iran bombed KDPI positions many times in coordination with Turkey.
Kurds are very much pro-Zion and they are slaves of Zion, Iran for many years told Kurds to cut Mossad and CIA hands or be ready to get fuked.
And that is one reason why Iran works with Turkey to finish Kurds+CIA+Mossad from M.E.
Pro-Zion? lol
Yes, have a look. https://ekurd.net/related-articles/israel-kurdistan-relations
Kurds very much “lookup” to Zion. They are not hiding it. LOL I don’t even think you have much clue about Kurds.
Probably the Israelis support Kurds against Turks and Azeris against Iranians?
Don’t know if you are much of a reader, doesn’t seem like it but here, https://uprootedpalestinians.wordpress.com/2018/10/06/once-a-zionist-always-a-zionist-noam-chomsky-supports-us-occupation-of-syria-to-protect-israeli-aligned-kurdish-terrorists/
That is just to give you an idea. Kurds are tools for the US to use to protect Zion. The sad fact is Kurds never going to have a homeland and if they think sucking Zion and yanquis get them anything is just foolish.
Turkroaches are crying and raging 🤗
