Turkish Military Deploys Heavy Howitzers In Syria’s Greater Idlib (Videos)

Support SouthFront

On May 30, the Turkish military deployed at least four M110 self-propelled howitzers in the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib.

The heavy howitzers, which ebelong to the Turkish Armed Forces’ 106th Artillery Regiment, entered Idlib through the Kafr Lusin border crossing.

Turkey’s Ihlas News Agency shared a video of the artillery guns passing through the province of Haytay. Another video, taken by Syrian opposition activists, showed the guns in Greater Idlib’s northern part.

The M110 203mm artillery gun range varies from 16,8 km to approximately 25 km when firing standard projectiles, and up to 30 km when firing rocket-assisted projectiles. A total of 219 howitzers of this type are in service with the Turkish Armed Forces.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), more than 100 Turkish military vehicles entered Greater Idlib over the last few days.

Turkey’s military buildup in Greater Idlib is likely not aimed against terrorist groups operating there. These groups are stationed right around Turkish posts. Ankara is most likely preparing for yet another confrontation with the Syrian Arab Army and its allies.

Xoli Xoli

Putin live on hope will Erdogan aims to destroy Russian expansion.Turkey intelligence tip of USA NATO to intercept Russian printed currency 1,1 billion$ for LNA.Erdogan destroy any Russian made allies openly.

Cromwell

Thats their story,of course you believe it.

rightiswrong rightiswrong

The Russians printed the money for the UN recognised government u8nder a contract signed a few years back.

You need to stop spewing CIA propaganda Xoli, the agreements are on paper, only a prick would not know that.

Fantax

Months ago there were rumours in the news that Russia was about to open a military base in Central African Republic, they were soon denied. The leaders of CAR made a wise decision, after what happened to Serbia and Syria only an idiot would make an alliance with Russia. Most of the commentators here are pro Russia (like myself till few months ago) and they will downgrade my comment but this is the sad truth, Russia is not USSR.

Jens Holm

It seemes to me Russia just simply dont have the capasity. as well as skills for the changes, they wish and support..

USA by Trump becomes more and more strange to me.

Fantax

Russia doesn’t have the capabilities, I must agree with you.

Jens Holm

Yes their problems are welldescriebed. The dont educate a middle class for advanced production and services.

Thats common among countries having devellopment problems. Everything else seemes to be there.

rightiswrong rightiswrong

You believe rumours, spread by the US!

You are a right muppet then.

Fantax

Putin wanted to help Syria and also at the same time to be in good terms with its worst enemy Turkey but, like the Chineses say, a man who chases 2 rabbits catches neither.

rightiswrong rightiswrong

Russia wants to be on good terms with all nations, but you think they shouldn’t do that as they end up with no friends!? Many nations are on friendly terms with Russia, while the ones that aren’t, are vassal states of the evil empire of the JewSA.

You just hate Russia, as they don’t bend over for your Empire, and it’s so good to see your lot on trying all type of bollox to say otherwise. The Jewhadis are butthurt.

Fantax

I don’t hate Russia and I am a strongly against the US empire, I am just disappointed, Syria was the only not former USSR country to allow the Russians to operate a military base and should have been protected since day 1 of the civil war.

rightiswrong rightiswrong

My arse.

Russian military assistance to Syria is and has been gratefully accepted by the Syrian people and government. Russian bases in Syria are being extended and enlarged, hardly the actions of a nation who would cut and run.

When you see Russian troops on the roof of the embassy in Damascus, waiting for the last helicopter to get them out, that will be the day that a cow jumps over the moon.

Russia doesn’t surrender like the US does. The USA are the nation who abandons their allies, what have they done for ISIS lately.

Fantax

The day I will see the jihadists removed from Idlib and the americunts removed from the Omar oil field I will admit that I was wrong and you were right. But till that day I will not change my position.

rightiswrong rightiswrong

Those Jewhadis had the war won in 2015, they were firing mortars within Damascus ffs. Ever since 2012, they were winning hands down. Why not, with the unlimited support they had from the USA, NATO, Gulf states and Turkey.

Russia entered the war in 2015, and the Jewhadis have been torn asunder since. Now Russia has announced they have been given more land for military bases by the legitimate government of Syria. Russia doesn’t set up bases in nations which are about to be annexed ffs.

Jens Holm

I cannot see why people use those long rangers. They hardly can hit a fooball field at those distances unless the use very expensive specialized and guarded ammo.

Well, they might damage runways on airfields – Russia seemes to recycle Russian jets in Syria again. It might be a reason…Might.

shylockracy

Don’t be so retarded, Turks use them because ISIS/al-Qaeda don’t have them so the Turks have to support their wahhabi Jewhadi proteges with firepower. Gotta destroy them before NATO gives terrorists an official army like in Kosovo.

Jens Holm

Reflecting how inaccurate they are is not retarded.

They fx have Firtinas. By that they can cover with many more grenades faster when they are adviced about targets having a much better chance to hit at least somerthing.

Long distance grenades with high caliber are very very expensive.

John

Jens, you know nothing about artillery.

rightiswrong rightiswrong

Even less about how to post in English, on English language publications.

Jens Holm

This is not an enlish language publication. Its how limited languages and probatly Yours dont cover a lot of english stuff.

If You are a muslim a lot is not even allowed to debate about. If You come from such a country, Your masters having You as spendables makes You to be non thinking and therefore non develloping creatures, which are raised worse then sheep are.

As long as You think i Arabic, Turkish, Farsi and Urdu most of English dont fit into the English, Western world of mine.

We see it here because muslims speaking socalled peur defect english dont understand a lot of things.

You have no language for democrasy as well. Much like Islam had only 3 important things instead of 5. Its just not there in Your simplified childish version of Lawyers and Doctors english.

I will never go back to, what I learned in school, when I was 16 to 18 years old. NO WAY.

And thats why most muslims lives in non devellopment zones, where only oil and gas sold to us save Your overpopulations for starvation and death.

You should wonder what we do right here, so people even desperat emmigrate TO US. Half of all refugees in the world are Muslims but muslims only are max 25% of the world population.

Speelling correct is not the isue here and people only write that, if they have nothing to bring themselves.

Jens Holm

I know about dirty smoke comming out from behinds like Yours too.

Jens Holm

I didnt know Your name is “Nothing”. I thought it was Stop it.

Facts are long range artillery in canons as well as haubitzers are more inaccurate the longer distance they have to use.

Thats elementary geometry used by artillery since artillery was invented.

Try to make a cirkel and see how much a grenade goes down wrong in fx 10, 15 and 20 kilometer.

Here You also has to adjust for wind, pressure for the air and altitude.

And more to it. There are many kinds of grenades as well as barrels.

occupybacon

What if USA and Israel gives them that ‘expensive ammo’ for free, just because they fight Assad?

Jens Holm

Thats no excuse for hitting nothing. The only thing I know those might hit are runways and other facilities for airports.

Turkey is no flee market for USA. Turks actually buy and pay for what they have. Simetimes its by loans, but they are not recyclng for Russians as the Syrians do.

And israel. Maybee, but its hard to belive Isrek do have haubtsers of that range. But I will never say 100% no. Israel do have very good expertice in hitting long dosyance targets well, but I dont thonk they have more then a few 150 mm.

They use Jets and missiles.

Thats my oppinion and what I think I see.

I can see another version, which could be Turks has those old canons from the old days of USSR and therefore ammo for them is old and free too. Its good economy even they hardly hot much, Turks will be noticed for being there.

203 mm canons might be good propaganda as well:)

occupybacon

It’s an enigma for me how Russia aerial domination of Idlib couldn’t scare the Turks to shove hundreds if not thousands of vehicles in such a small piece of land.

Jens Holm

I am a kind of neutral in that quagmire.

My comment about using big canons for long distance is a factual military one.

I only see the fear factor might be usesfull.

I see none thee should take over anything in Syria as well as AKP should be replaced in Turkey.

Turks do defend their proxies as well as it goes …

Non of them and probatly not even You would prefare my solutions. Thats the whole point. All solutions making at least some sensesysteamticly are replaced by military and partly political force.

John

Jens, you know nothing about artillery.

Jens Holm

Your name is nothing nutty??

John

Go Jens. :)

Gay Jens Holm

Stop login on SF when you drank 2 gallons of Moonshine.

Jens Holm

Its not because of You.

Xoli Xoli

We see and heard how Terrorists fight with Turkey forces. But we haven’t seen wither Turkey uses any canon, drone or Howitzers in Syria.Erdogans aim is against Russia and Syria. Putin stupidity to squeeze Iran and allies systematically out of Syria. Is a big advantage of USA NATO massive deployment. If Erdogan intensifies attack on Russia,Syria and request USA NATO air space closure support. It will be a success in the hand of Erdogan to defeat and destroy all Russian bases.

rightiswrong rightiswrong

You are a laugh a minute Xoli, as if Turkey could eject a Russian military base, lol.

The Turks will go as far as Russia allows them, a failed state like the Ottoman state is a joke ffs.

Xoli Xoli

That is a good statement. Turkey will go as far as Russia allows.

rightiswrong rightiswrong

The Russians are not going to make a big thing about Turkish troops, while the US army remains. Russia also has to deal with the legitimate ruler of Syria, who has his own agenda for dealing with the neighbours from Hades. Russia is there to help the Syrian government, not to run the Syrian government.

Joaquin

From my point of view it seems like Turkey goes pretty far quite often and can always at the very least save face out of complicated situations. Do you have any indications to belive that Syria could regain Idlib anytime soon or do you think the status quo will remain ?

rightiswrong rightiswrong

Save face! The Russians spent 2 days bombing Turkish positions, inflicted very large deaths, even more injured, and Erdogan ran to Moscow promising to behave. Syria will regain Idlib, Turkey will not be annexing Syrian territory. Turkey has not got the industrial capacity, or intellectual know how, to become an invading nation against Russian allies. The Syrians acquired advanced Mig29s in the last few days, from Russia. I doubt Russia would supply such aircraft to a nation that might be torn asunder. Ditto with the S300 systems they delivered, these weapons are to ensure Syrian sovereignty after the departure of the US and their proxies ISIS, AQ, SDF etc.

Joaquin

I remember the bombardment of turk positions and something like 40 casualties in a single day with video proof, but I also remember turkish military using manpads against syrian and russian aircraft, the downing of 2 syrian helicopters and 2 jets, the huge resupply of terrorists, all of the deals made that until now have been favorble to the turks and terrorists, at least in my eyes at the expense of hundreds of lives from the SAA, and on top of all that the entrenchment of the TAF inside Idlib with thousands of personnel and hundreds of pieces of heavy equipment.

I give a lot of credit to the russian intervention in the conflict, but it seems to me that Turkey is acting almost freely inside northern Syria. Like do you think they will honour their part of the deal about the M4 highway anytime soon? I think they are just pretending advances with the patrols, in order to keep the SAA at bay, it’s been already 13 patrols and the other end of the pocket is very far away still. Plus the part south of the M4 wont get disbanded anytime soon either

rightiswrong rightiswrong

You forgot to mention Erdogan being forced to go to the Kremlin, begging for a ceasefire, before the Russians sent the whole lot back in bodybags, inciting an uprising against Erdogan within Turkey. It was the Russians who saved him from the US coup of 2016. The Russians and Turks have patrolled to Sariqib, the Turks have been attacked by the militants surrounding the M4, and the Turks are killing their leadership off with drone strikes, don’t you read updates? Turkey did nothing in Syria, apart from take the oil from ISIS, before the US coup in 2016. Nothing is black and white, but Turkey will not be staying in Idlib, if they wanted Idlib, they have had a hundred years to say so, but didn’t.

40 casualties my arse, there were more ambulances outside one Turkish hospital at the time than that. Given the amount of Turks and the weapons they used against Syrian forces, common sense tells you they lost at least 40 to 100 dead, with a few hundred casualties. The Russians weren’t bombing individuals, but artillery units, infantry support as well as the bases from which they directed attacks against the Syrians. One artillery battery consists of a hundred men alone, do the maths.

Joaquin

I saw Erdogan while in the Kremlin after the turkish casualties angry and confident whereas Putin seemed very nervous and scared and I’m no russian detractor, at all, but that’s what I saw and it impressed me. Maybe Putin was playing him? Could be, I don’t know.

I read the updates about the killing of terrorist leaders, but that is not a full telling story per se. Maybe Turkey is trying to get a more compliant leadership withing terrorist ranks to satisfy its interests. Turkey’s own interests, not russian or syrian.

Turkey might be not so strong compared to Russia as you say but remember that at list on the papers they are a NATO member.

And about the bombing incidents, well the casualties were much more than I remembered then, but the reality now is that Turkey is much stronger in Idlib than it was back then. At least to my eyes.

rightiswrong rightiswrong

You saw Erdogan in the Kremlin kissing ass boy. NATO sat on their ass while the Russians bombed the shit out of a NATO members forces, and stated they would not get involved. Just who the fuck do you think the Belgians are going to conscript to fight Russia, the tranny brigades?

Your eyes are those of the trolls who are paid to spout bollox, a Jewhadi asshole.

Joaquin

Wow man you’ve got some issues

rightiswrong rightiswrong

With pathetic trolls!

Great rioting at the home of the Emperor last night, like Stalin, he didn’t leave his post.

He just moved to the Bunker like the last great WASP hope. LOL

Joaquin

You made a lot of assumptions and all were wrong haha

Anyways I just wanted to exchange ideas and that’s already done, so thank you for your time and have a nice one

rightiswrong rightiswrong

That’s your own assumption.

It’s no assumption that Erdogan begged for mercy in Moscow, that is all recorded for eternity. His staff looked a picture lined up under the statue of Tsarina Catherine, Conquerer of the Ottomans and Crimea. Good Turds, know their place.

nyomarek

Great news! SAA will have the opportunity to seize these new M110 self-propelled howitzers soon!!

Tommy Jensen

My advise to Putin and Rouhani is to enter into a dialogue with Erdogan and talk it over. Erdogan got leverage in Idlib, and they got nothing. Therefore they should give Erdogan something in Syria, an oil field or so, to neutralize these Howitzers to not jeopardize Russia’s bases and Iran’s servicemen. This is my advise!

Cromwell

Give those bastards nothing, best way to neutralzie those bastards is with air power and TOS-1s and Smerch, let them have a taste of that, and throw some Kalibr cruise missiles in.

gustavo

And this thanks to cease fire agreement between Russia and Turkey (NATO member with nuclear weapons pointing to Russia and China).

rightiswrong rightiswrong

Turkey has no nuclear weapons, and NATO countries do not get protected if they invade other nations off their own bat. Article 5 of the NATO Charter says that, and that’s what NATO told Erdogan after the Russians wasted a few dozen NATO soldiers out of bounds.

Cromwell

One hundred trucks crossed the border, why the hell are they not bombed?maybe the SAA are waiting for all the Turk rats to be in one place before they are annihilated.

<>

The SAA can’t do shit to Turkey, just like they can’t do shit to us. We also have the advantage, we have Damescus at our crosshair, with even better IDF artillery. That is somethng all of the clowns here should never forget, but first you will see what happens to Gaza if they dare to shoot rockets after we annex the Jordan Valley. It will be a big BBQ party of roasted Arabs.

Joaquin

Anybody who has a lot of firepower can do that, but where does it lead to? The US did a huge BBQ in North Vietnam and what happened to them? If you just wanna kill people and obliterate cities you can do it, but that doesn’t win a war in many cases, let alone solving the problems

<>

There is no mercy to terrorists or the ones that support them, that is what I’ve learnt. If you want a decisive win, you wipe everyone out. Then, when they are beaten and weak, you can negotiate for the terms which are best for you.

Joaquin

You cannot weaken all the middle east as Hezbollah has shown and eventually the tide could change

Joaquin

And does killing scientifics in Syria, or unarmed civilians in Lebanon, Gaza and elsewhere really qualifies as terrorism by your own standards or not?

<>

Yes, in Gaza they chose Hamas after we left them although they could have chosen the PLO and be part of any peace plan. In Lebanon the Lebanese government is now ruled by Hezbollah, even though we left them too in 2000. What does it tell me? that everywhere we leave, we get even worse enemies. Surprisingly, when we have a state of war against countries like Syria, that is where our border is the most quiet because they know not to fuck with us. Next wars, we need to turn Gaza and Lebanon into ruins, and anyone else that joins the war. If civilians need to die so be it, they can leave or be targeted like the terrorists, and I stand behind everything I wrote.

Satellitte

Peoples defending their land and home from thief and criminal are not terrorists. The only terrorist in the region are they dirty Khazar fake jew.

<>

lol okay, now fuck off.

rightiswrong rightiswrong

So Hitler had the right idea about your lot, but you claim it was a Holocaust?

You Jewhadi Nazi prick.

Cromwell

You haven’t learnt anything, but you will.

<>

Let’s.

Lupus

u talk like a nazi

David Parker

Israel is the largest collection of terrorists on earth. Israel is the source of wars among the goyim.

rightiswrong rightiswrong

If the Jewhadis are so brave, then why haven’t you got involved all along?

Keep firing your missiles from outside Syria like the cowardly dogs you are.

Hezbollah made shit of your lot before, and will do so again, if you ever get the balls to leave Jewhadi occupied Palestine.

God

Remember you always fought against low-trained & low-equipped armies, this situation is changing, you wouldn’t be able to keep all your ground against Egypt today. Also, even though I consider you won the 2006 war, Hezbollah performed so much better than what you were expecting. Your only advantage is that Syria and Iraq are very weak now but Saudi and Jordania grew much stronger than 1970s. You better stop acting like a bully or you will face the consequences when this countries “grow up”

Chinese Dog

Good job turkey

Assad must stay

Torki lorki porkis can bring in all the big guns and toys they want, the fact of the.matter is their days in syria are numbered, since they have no legal basis being there

Lupus

Still this occupation by the terrorist neighbor can last for many more years since most of the Turk peeps seem to approve it

Assad must stay

That can change

Lupus

I ‘ll celebrate that moment

Willing Conscience (The Truths

Erdogan’s practically turning northern Idlib into a permanent Turkish territory now, and a very well defended one at that, so I wonder just how long it’ll be before Erdogan declares a no fly zone in Idlib, he could do it right now if he wanted to but he seems to be putting it off for some reason, so I wonder what’s holding him back, it’s definitely not lack of capabilities. Assad may have to wait 3 more years to get Idlib back, because while Erdogan is still in office and Putin keeps helping him, northern Idlib’s going to remain Turkish property. Assad refuses to accept the Arab League’s offer to try and help stop Erdogan’s takeover of Idlib recently, so if he didn’t want their help he should instead try to develop a really good relationship with some of the major Turkish political opposition parties, they could be of invaluable assistance to Assad in the future. Every single one of the Turkish opposition parties are opposed to Erdogan’s intervention in Syria so they’re already in essence on Assad’s side, but if Assad could make the opposition parties some absolute guarantees that they could take to the next Turkish election, I’d bet my life they’d pull all Turkish forces out of Syria soon after they took power, and put Erdogan in jail. Sadly that would mean Idlib would remain in Erdogan’s hands for 3 more years, but after that no one would have to fight to get it back, so maybe this is the best solution now.

David Parker

The SAAF just received some Mig-29M which as I understand it has modern avionics and some jamming capability. Erdogan may not be able to control the air, and won’t at all if the Russians intervene to protect their investment in the SAAF. I just hope some Russian pilots are instructing the SAAF how to use the modern avionics so they aren’t missile fodder for Turk and Israeli F-16s.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

I’m afraid Erdogan also has good jamming equipment which he used it at the start of the year, he effectively shut down all Syrian air activity over western Aleppo for a few days. But those Russian jets are still much appreciated I’m sure, they’ll prove invaluable no matter what Erdogan does or doesn’t do. I liked your first comment though, and luckily all the Turkish opposition parties agree with you, they don’t want to be spending money on a war they don’t want either, they’d prefer to spend it on hospitals, schools, roads and healthcare too.

David Parker

Imagine how much could be done with the money being wasted on Turkey’s invasion of Syria. If the money for war were spent on roads and bridges and power plants and power lines what a huge difference it would make to the people.
