Turkish Military Establishes New Positions In Eastern Idlib, Western Aleppo (Videos)

Support SouthFront

On February 8, the Turkish military established two new positions in the opposition-held part of northwestern Syria.

According to Baladi News, a pro-opposition outlet, the first position was established on a road linking the towns of Binnish and Taoum in eastern Idlib, while the second was set up between the towns of Jeineh and Ibbin in western Aleppo.

Turkish reinforcements continued to pour in northwest Syria over the last few days. Hundreds of armored vehicles, battle tanks and other equipment were deployed in the region.

Earlier today, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed that his country will attack Syrian government forces if they threaten Turkish forces in Syria’s Idlib province. Furthermore, Erdogan repeated his threat to push Syrian troops away from Turkish observation posts in Greater Idlib by the end of February.

The Turkish military will likely establish more positions in northwest Syria in the upcoming few days to block the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) advance. The establishment of these positions, which don’t appear to be coordinated with Russia or Damascus, could lead to more tension in the region.

Troyan horses are useless when you know already what is inside. Rather, they are chickens on sale.

Barba_Papa

Hey look, even more Turkish tanks that were outdated already in the 90’s and haven’t seen a single upgrade ever since! More ATGW fodder. It’s almost like that callous heartless bitch of an Erdogan (no insults to callous heartless bitches intended), wants his tankers to die.

Easy for you to call names from the comfort of your cosy room. Everybody knows you’re the thing you’re calling others.

The SAA are done now. Wait for it.

These desperate measures will not shield AQ-aligned paramilitary forces there, don’t get your hopes too high. Have a quick glance at the territorial changes and overall strategic picture over the past 7 days and think again, hard. I can understand you also feel for the Muslim Brotherhood there and ErDOG’s passionate cries for their fate, but you should trust reality on the ground a bit more.

Samuel Vanguard

clearly turkey wants war with syria

Could be the more evil US MIC compartments pushing Turkey to come out in the open helping ISIS.

This is only shows how much respect Erdogan has for Putin and the same time shows how weak Putin is as protector. USA will bomb Turkey without hesitation, if Syria would be USA allies. That’s why is dear attack USA allies and everyone attacking SYria, because everybody knows that Putin only knows how please enemy, but not protect Russia allies such as Syria. At this point Russia should bomb Turkey position to send strong message to Turkey, enough is enough.

Just like above:

It surely was a massive error of him, IMO the biggest of his ever by far. But: As it stands now, it seems that error is agnowledged. The tide has turned luckily. I am pretty sure there is no turning back.

This time, Russia HAS to take a stand, and it looks like it WILL take a stand. And that surely is the right thing to do. Calling Erdogans bluff, closing airspace, and not appeasing Erdogan is what needs to be done, and it seems Russia is doing that exactly now. So while this was a huge mistake IMO, the mistake is being corrected. And right now, that is all that counts.

Again looks like Russia only limits itself to cheap talk. Russia has no balls to protect allies only puppet talk

Saint Jimmy (Russian American)

Take a look at the maps for the past year, ass wipe. The US, Israel, and Turkey have had their balls sliced off by Syria, Russia, and Iran. You must have traumatic brain injury from all of the defeats.

Joe Doe

Looks like Putin got fooled and played by Erdogan all the way. The lates -“Minister of National Defense Akar met with US Defense Minister Mark Esper, emphasized the importance of both USA and NATO making more concrete contributions to help Turkey with latest developments in Idlib.”. Putin game is backfire at the Syria expense. This only shows how weak Putin leadership is, when come to protect and support true allies, like Syria

ErdoWahn will need to order his troops to back the hell off. The only direction these very same convoys will be going back to Turkey in the near future. Then Erdogander will need to explain to Assad and Russia WTH was he doing ordering attacks on troops who were actively fighting terrorism on their own home-land????

EveryoneIsBiased

No explaining needed. The sides are now clear again, as the have been before the failed Idlib deal. Everyone knows the Turks, NATO and Gulf states supported and support Jihadists for regime change. Its just like before everyone had lost its mind and though Erdogan would change policy.

Black Waters

Hasbara Trolls are in full swing today, haha.

goingbrokes

Smoke and mirrors. Turkey is not going to take on SAA. This deployment is still massively inadequate for that. Erdogan needs to save his forces against the Kurds and he is simply making the only play he has, which is try to appear to protect the jihadists and not lose face while preparing to let them go. He is also sending in convoys to rescue his own assets in Idlib, and probably to take home all the major ammo stores before they fall to the SAA. He will probably rescue most of the western intelligence operators there (remember how many of them got trapped in Aleppo [they got traded] and Douma [they were killed]) and I imagine the western intelligence agencies will pay Erdogan a good price for their return, even though their mission is ultimately a failure and a humiliation.

Rajat Yadav

I think its preparation before any war like condition good morning status in hindi

Willing Conscience (The Truths

Mad dog Erdogan who’s only bluffed once during the last 2 years is now making the biggest threats he ever has, he’s saying no matter what, and despite anything the Russians say or do, he’s going to retaliate against the SAA if they attack his forces, and also says he’s going to push the SAA back to the original areas the Astana agreement stipulated they can occupy. He tried to bluff NATO a month ago and failed, so is he bluffing this time, I don’t think he is, I think he’s going to push Putin to the brink of war.
