On February 13 and 14, the Turkish military established two new “observation posts” in the so-called Greater Idlib region in northwest Syria.
The first post was reportedly established near the town of al-Jeineh in the western Aleppo countryside. The town is located less than 3 km to the west of the city of al-Atarib, a possible target of the ongoing Syrian Arab Army (SAA) operation in Aleppo.
The second post was set up in the vicinity of the town of Deir Sunbul in the southern Idlib countryside. The town is located 8 km to the northwest of the city of Ma`arat al-Nu`man, that was liberated by the Syrian military last month.
Meanwhile, the Turkish military deployed fresh reinforcements in Greater Idlib and along the border with the Syrian region. The reinforcements included armored vehicles, battle tanks, rocket launchers and artillery pieces.
The Turkish military buildup in Greater Idlib is clearly meant to intimidate the SAA. Nevertheless, the army is still advancing in the region facing very little to no resistance from Turkish-backed militants.
Idlib full of OP, maybe it’s time for Erdogan to just switch the turkish army into a journalism agency
Loving, kindness and merciful, much easier than beating swords into plowshares.
Al-Jeineh is dangerously close to al-Atarib, like 2 500 meters. Will it be surrounded or SAA offensive will stop there this time ?
Is Al Jeineh within Syria, is it a Turkish out post, why would the SAA not surround it, it has no legal right to be there. Nes pa.
You are right, Turkisk outpost has no legal right to be there. Sadly international laws have been destroyed this last 10 years, they are just a tool to sanction enemy of USA. No one knows how SAA & allies will deal with Turkish occupation.
Great more dung beetles to squash.
do not cry :)
Erdogan condemns Israel (rightly so) for invading and stealing others lands, then does exactly the same himself in northern Syria.
Turkey is preparing for war with Syria, that’s why it’s moving it’s military hardware in Idlib it’s not to establish “observation posts” but it’s to prepare to attack SAA.
Nah, it’s too late for that, it would be ruinously expensive for Turkey with weak economy, and politically ruinous for Erdogan with too many body bags coming home for nothing to show for it.
As well as the loss of experienced officers after the purge isn’t helping Turkey in this regard, if they intended what Samuel suggests.
1 hezbollah it’s on the ground bringing renforcement from lebanon 2 Turkish army is surronded in many points
It certainly looks like it so I hope the SAA is preparing for it, if they’re not they may be in big trouble if or when it happens.
turkey will stop advanced the syrian fir city idlib!!
All the Turkish heavy artillery stationed near the Turkish border is going to be the biggest problem for the 4th division, the M5 won’t be safe while Turkish artillery has them within range, but then again neither will most of Idlib and Aleppo, any advances from the points we hold now can be met with Turkish artillery support.
Plenty of tanks but no-one to drive them :)
