On October 18, a Turkish military helicopter (apparently Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk) crashed near the town of Ayn Issa in northeastern Syria. The town is located on the contact line between Turkish-backed forces and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Pro-SDF sources say that the helicopter was downed by the SDF, while the Turkish side says that it crashed due to a technical issue.
Here you can see another famous technical issue suffered by the Black Hawk.

MuAh ah ah ah
We have a black hawk down, black hawk down….
Another bird strike perhaps?
Yes it is believed to be a Russian migrating flock of RPG known for their explosive ability to fly at ground level or high in the sky. People should avoid standing in front of these as these birds are believed to be blind and fly by touch.
” People should avoid standing in front of these as these birds——-”
Unless of course, one is as high as a kite. :)
There was an African soldier with the Rhodesian army that had one of these embedded in his chest and it didn’t explode . They sandbagged the operating room and removed it and he lived to tell the tale. Would have been an RPG 3 1978/9
That is crazy. Different tangent of survival stories – but are two WW2 stories of allied airman surviving free falls without parachutes to ground:

Lol. That did make me smile.
The Somali thugs stole all the air and we all know that choppers can’t fly without air.
They even made a movie about it, where brave rescue workers tried to rescue these poor trapped helicopter pilots who had done nothing but minding their own business.
Seriously though, I loved that movie, still do. To me its a movie that doesn’t take sides in that conflict, it just shows soldiers getting shoved into a crapfest trying to survive. None of that ‘Murrica, fuck yeah!’ bullshit like We Were Soldiers did, just dudes trying to survive. That’s my take.
Was directed by Riddle Scott……………….not more words……….
And the “official” number is two Blackhawks……..in reality two more reach the US base damaged and were destroyed on landing…….
Turkey did say they suffered no causalities in this crash. Sure looks like a survivable crash going by those pics.
Lol.
The SADF is in the process of putting a no fly in place over the NE. This may be part of it.
Funny this is reported as crashed near Ras Al-‘Ayn not Ayn Issa and the story does not even exist on hawarnews.com.
Oh yeah definitely a no fly zone being set up by SDF – just wishful thinking.
“Crashed due to technical issue” means that shell fragments and/or brass-coated lead objects travelling at high speed disrupted the control mechanisms or engine, or neutralized the delicate protoplasm in the cockpit.
I hope its a very old one. We just bought some new ones.
I hope only undertakers are happy for it
Technical issue? So are all Black Hawks grounded now until they work out the solution to the “technical issue”? Maybe, technically, it wasn’t a technical issue!
