Turkish Military Hits 'Critical' Gathering Of PKK Members In Northern Iraq: Erdogan

The Turkish military has nit a “critical gathering” of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the Qandil area in northern Iraq, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on June 16 speaking to Turkish broadcaster Kanal 7.

“During these last operations, we hit their very critical gathering,” Erdogan said. “We have not received the results yet, but it is certain that we have hit them.”

On the same day, the Turkish military said in a statement that on June 15 Turkish warplanes destroyed hideouts and weapons depots of the PKK in the area of Qandil.

On June 11, Erdogan announced that the Turkish military had launched anti-PKK operations in the Iraqi areas of Qandil and Sinjar.
