The Turkish parliament adopted a law on ratification of an agreement with Russia on construction of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.

According to the news agency, two hundred and ten deputies voted for the ratification of the document, seven were against it and six abstained from the voting.

In the very near future, the law will be signed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, after which it will be published by Resmi Gazete national official journal of the country and will come into force.

Earlier, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak said that work on gas pipelining of the Turkish Stream will be started in early 2017. Ankara considers that this project is very important for the country’s energy policy.

On October 10, Moscow and Ankara signed an intergovernmental agreement, which involves construction of two lines of gas pipeline under the Black Sea. The first line is provided for supplying gas to Turkish market, the second one – for transit of fuel to Europe. It is planned that the project will be completed in December 2019.
