Turkish Parliament Ratifies Further Operations In Syria And Iraq

AA Photo

On Saturday, the Turkish Parliament voted for a motion to extend approval for the deployment of Turkish troops in Iraq and Syria for another year.

The decision was made in an extraordinary session and came ahead of an independence referendum (scheduled for September 25) in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region and the nearby areas held by Peshmerga forces, a military force of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

The motion said that Turkey evaluates high the protection of Iraq’s territorial integrity, national unity, and stability.

Turkey, Iran, the US as well as the UN, the Iraqi Federal Government and other sides have all stand against the KRG’s will to turn the norhern part of Iraq into an independent Kurdish state.

However, the KRG remains adamant in its decision to hold the vote. The only state that publicly supports the KRG move is Israel.

Meanwhile, about 100 units of battle tanks, howitzers and other military equipment are participating in the ongoing Turkish military drill near the border with Iraq’s Kurdistan Region as a an indication that Turkey, Iran and Iraq could decide to use a military option if the KRG does not find a political solution with them.

The biased referendum for an independent Kurdistan in Iraq

Massoud Barzani, President of the region of the Iraqi Kurdistan, has declared that in the absence of any counter-proposals from the International community, the referendum on independence, scheduled for Monday 25 September 2017, would definitely go ahead.

The UN Security Council (UNSC) has not managed to reach either a resolution (which would have legal force in international law), or even a declaration from its President (which indicates the positions of the Council members). All the UNSC has managed to do is issue a press communiqué condemning a potential secession. Clearly, some Council members are taking a position publicly that conceals their evil intentions on this matter.

The ballot will take place in both the independent region of Kurdistan and also in the territories that Barzani, working with Daesh, annexed. The referendum is a unilateral decision of Erbil, condemned by the National Assembly, the Federal Government and the Supreme Court of Baghdad. It is intervening now because more than 3 million non-Kurds have had to flee the region, as a result of the ethnic cleansing that Barzani undertook, and have sought asylum in Turkey and Syria. There are about 8 million Kurds in the area.

However, the finances of an independent Kurdistan will be difficult to guarantee given the military expenses engaged and the price of oil being only around 70 dollar per barrel.

The French giant Total is exploiting the Shaikan oilfield to the max. The Russian state company, Rosneft, has just signed a billion dollar contract with President Barzani to build a new gas pipeline. The British company, Gulf Keystone Petroleum, is also getting ready to develop its investments here.

However Turkey, which is the operator of the Kurdish–Turkish pipeline, BOTAŞ Petroleum Pipeline Corporation, could brutally cut off transport at the port of Ceyhan. The Turkish army is gathering its troops at the border of the Iraqi Kurdistan, officially to conduct military exercises. The regional press considers that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is ready for a military intervention. An agreement could be reached. If it were, the referendum would not be followed by a declaration of independence.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The Barzani Party is the only Kurdish group supporting the referendum as the two others have decided to leave the Coalition of parties. The CHP party in Turkey voted in overwhelming support for this action by the Turkish Govt looks as if Barzani is on a sinking ship now.

Brother Ma

Lets hope not. These Kurds have been a thorn in many peoples side for too long a time!

Florian N

This independence referendum is not about independence but about sizing the land they gained by fighting ISIS. If they vote for YES then there is no independence Kurdistan, only we see the will of the people for it. But the political elite in Kurdistan wants more land, so they gain a stronger position in the Iraq federal state. (An example for this is the oil-rich city of Kirkuk) So they only try to strengthen their position against the government in Baghdad. Iran and Turkey will ever hate Kurds, just because they are feard of more demos for a Kurdish state in their own land. But real sanctions by those nations are probably only for the first 1-2 months until Baghdad and Erbil have decided about the land and the new power balance in northern Iraq. The land they probably going to gain has a Kurd majority and minority. It will so do I think only be kinda a way to legitime the gained land.

Florian N

This is not pro or con on Kurds. Please do not start answering me about your anti-US, imperialists, land grabbing, Zionist shit. Russia is not the good guy in the world, the US is neither the one. Both are the same bad nations to me. And try to see things differently and not only black and white.

Boris Kazlov

You are wrong, Russia is the light of the world, the only country standing in the way of Zionism, hegemon.

Florian N

If your comment isn’t just satire. Then why didn’t russia realy do anything about it? Why do they also have oligarchs and corruption, do work together with undemocratic leaders and accept Israel as a state? Both US and Russia are just some superpowers who want influence and resources for their own power, like other states aswell.

Serious

Florian N is 100% right. Nor USA nor Russia nor China is good. They are just playing theirs cards for their own interest.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The others are playing for continued self interest in diversity in the world as it helps anyone from growing too strong and beneficial to stability. This is called a neutrality defense and not about domination and global supremacy. The US uses global economics as a weapon to not only weaken the target country but all those who want a better trade system. Just as dealing with the US is like dealing with the one who wants to take your toys at the sand box and share them out as his.

Serious Dude

Neither Russia nor US are bad. Putin should unite with Trump to crush Islamic terrorism!

Serious

Impossible. islamists are USA weapons.

Serious Dude

Maybe to gangs inside the US like the ones that supported Hillary (Obama is a former member of Muslim Brotherhood). But islamists want to wipe US and all of Europe off the planet.

Serious

Also Trump is a member of MB. XD. Obama is just a useful idiot. He thinks he is important but he is just a product of the US regime.

Islamists are armed and helped by USA to destroy and invade foreigner countries.

Serious Dude

Then why are American soldiers are killed every day by Islamist thugs? Because they love them?

Serious

I think that’s because Americans are killing muslims in their own countries and are occupying them. XD.

it’s simple. Muslims have the right to defend themselfs against american terrorists.

Serious Dude

Muslims kill other Muslims, Americans only need oil. On one hand you support Islamists and on the other you despise them. Maybe Islamists in Afghanistan are good for you and Islamists in Syria are bad. Is that so?

Serious

SDF is not islamic and I don’t support them because they are traitors to their own country. Just like FSA, traitors. In Afghanistan, the traitors are in the government.

Serious Dude

The FSA of Afghanistan is the Taliban. lol

Serious

No. Talibans are afghan patriots that want to expell the terrorist american. FSA is building military bases with USA. So, you are wrong.

Serious Dude

They have the same ideology. Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham has anti-American ideology.

Serious

There are also Americans that have anti-islam ideology. SO, what’s the point ??? They do whatever they want in their own country !!! The problem is that they are just used by USA to kill Assad and after they will be killed by USA and USA will occupy their country.

Serious Dude

You make no sense…

jhon malakiat

if you know americans only need oil, then you so stupid if you write like this:

— Then why are American soldiers are killed every day by Islamist thugs? Because they love them? —

for sure because usa terrorist need oil so that they use islmist to achieve this. until this moment, if you still believe america is the saint then you totally idiot. period

Serious Dude

Who said that America is saint? It is just better than terrorists. Taliban and AQAP want to kill American soldiers. Do you also support them?

Florian N

Islam isn’t bad. Islamic terrorism is bad, as well as Christian terrorism, or another terrorist, extremist are bad. Bad is a hard word to say, I know. But on these websites, nobody cares if you are neutral to people so you have to say they are bad so nobody declares you as pro whatever and sometimes even discusses with you. Most time not with facts but aren’t the little times in life the best ?^^

Solomon Krupacek

islam is bad. it is the most ugly religion. in islam the momen are animals. and islam is much, much more then religion. is also law system, ideology and political system.

Serious

Is to be a pornstar good ???? XD.

Everyone knows that women are a problem. They let the devil enter. that’s why you see a lot of women in politics nowadays like Merkel.

Florian N

And what about middle age? The Christian religion was law system, ideology and in many parts also a political system. Now we can see Islam is 600 years younger than Christianity. Also, we had the luck in Europe that we had the enlightenment. I do not say we just have to wait a few hundred years to get Islam on the same stage, but the problem in the middle east is at the moment that modern technologies make it harder for people to be against it because they have everything they got. (Augustus= panem et circensis) It is not Islam that is bad, it’s the people that make something bad about it.

Solomon Krupacek

it was in middle age. islamic countries live 600 years ago. close out all islam believers from europe! when you will be ready for human rights and democracy, an come.

Serious

The problem is that they want to expell you from the middle east but you want to occupy them. Nobody told you to bring them iu Europe except you joos masters. XD.

You can’t be the solution if you are part of the problem. XD.

I always see europeans crying but they like to be be joos salves and they want to occupy muslim countries. Don’t cry bitch cause you are the problem. XD.

Florian N

The same question can you ask European 600 years ago^^. The world isn’t the same, in China or India or Africa they have other standards than Europe. We need to be patient and give them our thinking by talking and showing how it is good. Not by populism about bad Islam and stuff like that!

Solomon Krupacek

i am living now

Florian N

Then we can act about the last 100 years, when Christian superpowers, British and France, wanted middle east under their control and accepted traditional Islamic monarchs as a controller, not thinking about the people. Then oil was important to every nation wanted these monarchs or meanwhile despots to stay because of their resources. Today we have a community that is mostly happy with what they have if not there is a civil war, or we have dictators who suppress the people so they do not say anything about human rights. Also for every superpower(China, USA, Russia), autocrats are better to deal with than democratic system because they last longer in one way of the political view. But on all these systems the people got nothing.

So to sum up, the system we live in is wrong, but we got no better system(no state has). Muslims in Europe are mostly modern and liberal but we have many nations in the middle east (like turkey) who had a liberal system (over many years turkey wanted to be in EU and wanted to be an industrial state) now we have a post-imperial turkey (at least in their rhetoric) and now we have a more autocratic system because of populism and fear. So we have to start living by facts start thinking about stuff out of our view start seeing the view of others and start living without populists who say easy answers (like a wall^^) will help us.

Serious Dude

Agreed…

Serious

Arabs fighting each others and give theirs lands to the Kurds !!!! Just like in Palestine.

Arabs are so stupid.

And Kurds will have nothing. The west is just using them to steal them the oil. Kurds steal oil from Arabs and the west steal oil from the kurds.

jhon malakiat

beg pardon to all my friend from arab, i have to agree with this statement. you are so stupid. fight each other and giving your land to kurd.

so far until now the winner is kurd. they success grab many arab land.

Serious

I told that since day one. Everybody was against me. Now, everybody has to agree with me. Arabs are so stupid that they fight each others to give lands to foreigners. No people in the world did just a thing.

Arabs are a failure.

Serious

You can’t help someone stupid.

Rodney Loder

I’m agreed, Brazani and Salman think that the referee is Trump so they play by his rule, even though he doesn’t.

Serious

They can do nothing. Without USA support, they are finish.

Rodney Loder

The World is being divided US wants Saudi and Kurds to stay with them, Egypt is not interested Sisi wants Saudi and US aid money so does Lebanon but they will do nothing for it, because it’s the less less your prepared to do the more you get, that’s how bribery works, I myself would never be bribed, unless it involved a four wheel drive tractor.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Buy a tractor that is easy to repair and only mechanical , electrical you need parts and too many things to go wrong. The Russians even make the older tractors with tough engines , they will work all day long and the new American ones will overheat and wear quicker and always breakdown.

Rodney Loder

Thanks for the oil, actually I had a Bolarus in New Zealand a while back now, it was Eastern Block not Russian but it was reliable and cheap.

Rodney Loder

The price of oil reduced dramatically because Saudi Arabian market share was reduced due to fracking it was that which really put pressure on the Petro Dollar but when King Abdullah passed on the new regime was unable to use it’s leverage on the World Financial stage because they panicked and were drawn into the clutches of US Foreign Policy instead of being able to exert pressure on it, at that time Erdogan the EU and Brazani were like hand and glove after the July 15 2016 failed coup AK went its own way and took Turkey with it, Brazani and Salman were then tasked by israel and the CIA to resurrect the status quo prior to July 15, the referendum is really just Mossad pulling the pin hoping for a turnaround, Trump got cold feet because the Pentagon refused to back it up initially fearing two massive calamities in a row but that could change if there is enthusiasm for secession it very well could be the next big thing running on Saudi Finance, Brazani in spite of the family history might not survive if it goes badly.

Serious

Barzani is just saudi arabia monarch bis. Saudi Arabia is very very weak. Without USA support, SA will disappear. You can’t negociate when you are naked. and defendless.

Keith Smith

It all has to stop soon. things cannot continue the way they have been.

jhon malakiat

if arab spring go to turkey or iran as well, i think kurd will grab land also to build kurdistan..

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

You mean ISIS spring these are just US/UK/FRAN/GER/Israeli Mercenaries , they will never turn on their masters but will do their bidding.

Solomon Krupacek

what is with SF? long hours i can not refresh the main page. but the comments in opened articles ar continuously refreshed.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The problem is the war in Syria is not even over since all terrorists have to be dealt with even Russians concur as does Iran and Hezbollah see that there is more than meets the eye.

John Brown

All as I predicted and the SDF in Syria will be wiped out as well and Tukey and Qatar will be fully in the Russian Chinese sphere of influence fro decades to come.
