It’s safer to ‘migrate’ to the European Union than to fight the Libyan National Army near Tripoli.
At least 17 members of Turkish-backed Syrian armed groups deployed in Libya reportedly threw down arms and fled to Italy via the illegal migration route heading the European Union through Tripoli, controlled by the pro-Turkish Government of National Accord (GNA). According to Al Hadath TV, another group of Turkish proxy fighters fled to Tunisia. Their final goal is also the European Union.
Reports from sources close to Turkish-backed Syrian armed groups say that around 2,400 Turkish-backed Syrian fighters are already in Libya. 1,700 more are passing training in military camps in Turkey awaiting their deployment.
Ankara uses its proxy forces to rescue the GNA from the Libyan National Army led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar. Haftar’s forces are in control of the major part of Libya, while the GNA controls only two big cities – Tripoli and Misrata.
The problem is that members of pro-Turkish groups that suffered a series of devastating defeats from the Syrian Army and large casualties in Syria’s Al-Bab and Afrin expireince some problems with combat morale. So, some of them prefer to use the deployment in Libya as an opportunity to move in Europe.

I was in Lybia in the beginning 90s and enjoyed my stay there. the impact of the US attacks on Tripolis was still visible, but life and amenities there wer classes better then in any other north African country. I worked on the water projects for 2 years, and saw, how the politics of Ghadafi improved the lifes of his people. When now listening to the US propaganda, I wish from my heart, that a severe disaster strucks the US and all their politicians, which destroyed this beautiful country and their society.

If true, Europe will be getting more of these ‘immigrants’…and what will they be doing when they get there? Settling down and living a quiet life? Talk about turkeys coming home to roost, EU’s support of this criminal enterprise is the root of this. The EU tacit support for this US/NATO war on the ME isn’t done until they have filled Europe with terrorists-on-tap to keep the boogeyman alive. Erdo fears all these poor rebels ending up in Turkey, because they won’t be staying in Syria. What to do with them? Send them to Libya as fodder or do just what he has been threatening to do. Whether or not this article is true, the option for Erdo does exist. The EU needs to dump the US/NATO op and make nice with ME countries…their support for BDS is a start. Then dump US sanction policy and bite the sanction bullet when the US sanctions them. They will be no worse off than the effects of the sanctions on Russia…or they can follow the US down the rabbit hole and lose sight of daylight.
I think it is part of the plan. These guys will introduce more chaos in Europe which will then need to spend more money on defense and security with greater control and surveillance on the populations all in the name of ‘safety, of course’.

That is a logical deduction, US also was very uncomfortable with a united and rising Europe and is now actively undermining the fragile European Union and extorting most of the countries with additional demands to host US bases and buy inflated priced US weaponry. Unfortunately, most of the victims of US weapons ponzi scams are very vulnerable old eastern block nations like Ukraine, Poland, Romania and the most impoverished Bulgaria.
and it migth be a clever way for erdogan to get rid of the jihadists in idlib and send them and their guns to libya whence they can get themselves to europe directly and not first into turkey and then onwards. in this he may just save on the cost side and avoid contaminate turkey further – good and possibly even agreed with president Putin, who doesn’t really care much about about europe and much more about Syria.
Maybe they do not feel that motivated to fight fellow Sunni Arabs. In Syria they fought either Alawite, Christians, Druze, Shia Muslims or plain secular Arabs that do not care too much about Islam.

Erdogan today, without doubt is the biggest threat to any chance of stabilization in the Middle East or even Europe. His delusional Ottoman fantasies are undermining his own fragile country beset by internal ethnic problems, deteriorating economy and unraveling social fabric. He is effectively at war with all his neighbors and promoting Salafist terrorism as a proxy tool to destabilize at least four Arab states, namely; Syria, Iraq, Libya and Lebanon in conjunction with US, Saudis and the Persian Gulf Arab family run vassal fiefdoms.
The overall negative impact of Turkish and short sighted US and NATO destruction of the regional order post Sykes-Picot is yet to be felt and will have lasting negative impact of the Arabs and Europeans alike. US is its infinite destructive impulses has set both its “friends” and foe alight and Turkey is the local arsonist.

But before passing judgement on Turkey we must remember that Turkey itself was certainly slated for destabilisation, and to be later carved up to smaller entities, Kurds being used for this purpose as long as necessary. George Papadoupoulos makes it very clear that US (and possibly NATO) have been working for some time towards ditching Turkey. What would a proper Middle East carve-up be with Turkey left standing! The attempt on Erdo’s life a couple of years back fits the pattern. I believe it was Russians that saved Erdo’s bacon and they have cashed in on that handsomely so far. I’m not trying to approve Erdo’s actions re Syria, but he was obviously sucked in on promises of land etc. and who’d have thought in 2015 that Syria would win in the end! I would also bet that 90% of the so-called Turkish backed jihadists are only nominally under Turkish control, and that a cutoff switch exists. Erdo might have realised (through Russians) that they are not his army and that having them in Turkey could lead to catastrophic destabilisation. That’s why Libya is their current destination. He might have realised that he is really fighting for Turkey’s existence now and that’s why his actions seem a bit crazy. It may be why Idlib is not just “wiped out” – Erdo needs time to shift the 5th column to Libya. Just sayin… I think the local arsonist is another entity altogether…
