A Turkish service member was killed and six others were injured while operating in the northeastern Syrian governorate of al-Hasakah, the Turkish Ministry of National Defense announced on November 1.
In an official statement, the ministry said that the soldiers were targeted with an improvised explosive device (IED) near the border town of Ras al-Ayn.

In the last three days, the town’s countryside witnessed intense clashes between Turkish-backed Syrian militants on one side and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Force (SDF) and the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) on the other.
The attacks around Ras al-Ayn are violating Turkey’s recent agreements with Russia and the U.S. Both agreements implicate that a ceasefire should be imposed in the region.
The Turkish military and its Syrian proxies launched Operation Peace Spring against Kurdish forces in northeast Syria last month. So far, ten Turkish service members have been killed in the region.
