The migrant standoff at the Greek-Turkish border is on-going with Greek media reporting escalations from the Turkish side.
According to reports, two Turkish F-16 fighter jets violated Greek airspace in northern Evros.
It is believed that this is the first time Turkish fighter jets have ever violated Greek airspace in Evros. The majority of these violations have taken place over the Aegean Sea for decades, but none have occurred above the land border between Greece and Turkey.
According to the Greek National Defense General Staff, two Turkish F-16 fighter jets entered the Flight Information Region of Athens in the afternoon on March 11th and flew above Greek territory in Northern Evros, where the recent border crisis between Greece and Turkey is still playing out.
At several points, the Turkish jets flew at an extremely low height of only 500 feet, in a clear attempt to provoke the Greek side.
They reportedly also harassed a Greek helicopter, as it can be seen in the video above.
Later, on the same day, two other Turkish F-16 jets violated Greek airspace yet again, flying above the Greek islets of Kalogeri, northeast of the Cycladic island of Andros.
On the evening of March 10th, near the eastern Aegean island of Kos, a Turkish speedboat rammed a Greek Coast Guard vessel.
According to a video uploaded on Twitter, the Turkish vessel is seen approaching the Greek boat at speed. A Greek officer shouts to the rest of the crew that they have been hit at the stern.
He is heard shouting: “They broke our rails. We are in our (own waters) and they hit us. They damaged our stern.”
While everyone thinks its calm in the #Aegean because there are no refugee boats arriving in the islands, #Greece ‘s @HCoastGuard is being dangerously harassed by a Turkish vessel.

Earlier in March another incident occurred off Lesvos where a Turkish Coast Guard vessel was filmed harassing the Greek Coast Guard.
And, indeed, on March 11th, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkish vessels will chase Greek boats in the Aegean Sea.
“They will run away and we will chase them. That’s how it will be from now on,” Erdogan said.
In addition, Greek Media Kathimerini reported of claims that there was evidence of a sharp increase in aggressive behavior by Turkish security forces in both the Aegean and at the Evros land border.

On the evening of March 11th, officers of Turkey’s special forces fired over a Greek military vehicle that had been stationed on the Greek side of the border, according to the outlet.
Meanwhile, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu tweeted at Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendieas asking him if he saw the New York Times report, claiming of a Greek “migrant black site,” that’s established on the claims of 7 unnamed US officials.

I just want to point out that, for a Greek like me, there is no negativity against muslims. Especially Syrians we need to thank because they kept the turks busy. It is turkey against Greece, turkey against Syria and against Libya. Turkey is just the bully of the area.
The Syrian refugees on our borders are just 4% of the sum, where in fact even turk refugees are more than the Syrians, turks are 5% !
If the greek army was any smart, they should already be in touch with the Syrian army to transfer knowledge on how those turkish drones were downed and other military expertise against the turks.
Looking at what is going on at our borders, I would expect some Greek injuries/casualities soon because the turks want to create a crisis. I am not sure leaving F-16 fly over Evros or turkish vessels chasing the Greek ones is a good move on the Greek side.

Turkey’s [so-called] air space violations is related to the Greek violation of the international law. The core of the conflict is the persistent abuse of Flight Information Region (FIR) responsibility by Greece. The FIRs were devised by the International Civil Aviation Organization during the 1950s to provide facilities and services to the civilian aircrafts in the international air space.
The FIR arrangements solely entail technical responsibility and it does not change the free status of the air space over the high seas under international law. The FIR responsibility over the Aegean international air space was assumed by Greece in 1952.
But Greece deliberately misinterprets and abuses its FIR responsibility as if it entails sovereignty over international air space, and considers FIR as a national border line. Greece also considers FIR as a defense perimeter, and maintains the view that military aircrafts flying into Athens FIR and international air space should submit flight plans and come under the Greek air traffic control’s authority.
So, Turkish F-16s have no obligation to submit flight plans to Greece for conducting flights in the self-proclaimed national “Greek airspace”..
However, according to the article 3/a of the International Civil Aviation Convention (ICAO): “This convention shall be applicable only to civil aircrafts, not to the state aircrafts.”
Therefore, the military aircrafts flying into an international air space are under no obligation to submit flight plans according to international law. Still, Greece claims that the non-submission of flight plans by Turkish military aircrafts constitutes the “violation of the Greek FIR”. A concept such as “the violation of FIR” does not exist, since the FIR responsibility does not imply the recognition of sovereignty of Greece over an international air space. Meaning that Greece formulates and implements unlawful positions first, and then complains of their violation.
The Greek abuse of FIR is yet another example of its “de-facto sovereignty” claim over the whole Aegean air space. For this reason, the Greek aircrafts regularly intercept and harass Turkish military aircrafts over the international air space under the false pretext of “the violation of Athens FIR”.
According to international law, the territorial waters of a country also constitutes the boundaries of its air space. In 1931, Greece declared a 10 NM wide national air space, even though the width of its territorial waters was only 3 NM at the time. In 1936, Greece extended its territorial waters to 6 NM this time, which is also the current figure. The Greek claim of 10 NM national air space is against the international law and internationally not recognized. The modern Greek state, since its foundation for the first time in the early 19th century, pursue such policies under the pretext of “ancient Greek lands” propaganda to justify its aggression and territorial claims against the neighbouring nations.
But turks are not a nation, are just a horde.
Again why is this country in NATO again, it seems Turkey posses a threat to NATO or Europe far more then Russia based on belligerent attitude towards its neighbors. Then again the fact Turkey is in NATO, is good reason alone to disband this useless corrupt organization.
