UPDATE 2: The Turkish-backed National Front for Liberation claimed responsibility for the shootdown of the helicopter. If this claim is true, the group is now actively receiving MANPADs from Turkey.

On February 14, Turkish-backed militants shot down a Syrian military helicopter (reportedly Mi-8) in western Aleppo. The crew died in the incident. According to reports, the incident allegedly took place in the area west of Qabtan al-Jabal.
Most likely the aircraft was downed by a MANPAD. Local sources report that recently Turkey provided Idlib groups (including Hayat Tahrir al-Sham) with a number of such missiles.
This was the second Syrian military helicopter downed by Turkish-backed militants since the start of February. On February 11, a Syrian military helicopter was downed by a MANPAD near the village of Nayrab in eastern Idlib.
