On October 12, 30 vehicles of the Turkish Army including armored vehicles entered Syria’s Idlib province via the Atme border crossing on the Syrian-Turkish border, according to Syrian opposition groups.

Syrian opposition activists claimed that the Turkish Army convoy was escorted by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS; formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) fighters. However, these claims are not confirmed yet.

The Turkish Army likely started its deployment between the Atme border crossing and Darat Izza town in the northern Aleppo countryside. The Turkish Army deployment suggest that there is an agreement with HTS.

Furthermore, it appears that the upcoming Turkish Army military operation could be aimed against the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in Afrin city in the northern Aleppo countryside.

The Turkish Army deployment comes hours only after Turkish National Defense Minister Nurettin Canikli said at the European defense ministers’ meeting in Georgia that the PKK and PYD will use the weapons supplied to them by the US to attack Turkey once ISIS is defeated.

“The U.S. is doing this [for its fight against ISIS], but we know that the terror group’s final target is Turkey. Once [the fight against] ISIS is done, which it is almost, all of those weapons will point at Turkey,” Canikli said.

Canikli also said that the US supplied the PYD with enough weapons to arm an army of 40,000-50,000 men.

Canikli statements in Georgia prove that the Turkish goverment still view the PYD and PKK as the main enemies of the Turkish state. According to this, Turkey indeed might be willing to go into an alliance with radical groups – like HTS – to counter its “main enemies”.

Only GOD himself knows what Erdogan’s troops doing in Al-Qaeda’s Idlib places. Well nothing surprising tho as usual Turkey as always doing business with the Terrorists.

Al-nusra was backed by Turkey, this is old news.

suluklu

Now there is your terrorist and my terrorist ? You don’t consider PKK terrorists and that shows how ignorant you are to the matter or how 1 sided and insincere

Zainab Ali

turkey does not care about syria’s war with zio terrorists – it only cares about itself – such neighbours are useless

Daniel Castro

Their selfish interests can be used in a constructive way though… but you should never let them get behind you, keep them always at arms length, and always keep an eye on what they are doing.

Langaniso Mhlobo

Useless neighbour once a terrorist always a terrorist.

I should have seen this sooner. Sultan Errdawg is allying with HTS again.

Rodney Loder

Some analysis supports the view that HTS could be realigning away from KSA and UAE this would be towards Turkey and Qatar alarming for Egypt as it could spell a resurgence of BH asymmetrical warfare (charity and terror) that proved so successful prior to Sisi. Morsi arrested November 2011sprung from prison by the CIA rearrested July 2013 by Sisi. Egypt is the key for rapprochement with the BH which has to happen by the looks of it, al-Assad and Sisi have got to take heed, this could be a new beginning for the destruction of Syria, the CIA won’t be on-board because of Erdogan’s providence, but KSA could concede leadership to the BH in order to keep the pot boiling, that’s probably what they will do, only one thing for Assad to do, which is to pull the pin on my loneliness and let me deal with Zawahiri, I can offer him something much better because I am the Mahdi.

a great media show. agreement reached with hts, the main goal again is the Kurds. I wonder what the Russians have to say about this since it was supposed to be a 2 front operation against HTS. from the south SAA and from the north TAF…

Solomon Krupacek

be sure, they will explain. russians are big taletalkers :) you can see also here, like alex, jesus, …

It’s only a matter of time before SDF + Russians + SAA + Hezbollah + IRGC invade Idlib and try to race Turks to Idlib City.

Once Syrians realize that if Turks get to Idlib City 1st, then Turks will never leave & Idlib will be lost to Turkey for decades.

***Watching Turk deployment so far, it is very clear Turks are trying to seize high ground along Idlib & Efrin/Aleppo border to block SAA & SDF from Idlib City.

PS. Idlib City is the key. Whoever takes it will control Idlib.

Just get a kick out of how this Turdogan tries to portray himself as a liberator , the fake staging of this event was so bad forcing people under the gun to hold Turkish flags etc. this looks bad on him. The SAA and Russians and Iranians have seen him being set up for a big fall, the US is going to dump this whole mess onto Turkey as the prime mover in this regime change plan.
