On January 23, Turkish forces deployed tear gas against locals who were protesting against their presence in northern Syria. The incident took place during a joint patrol with the Russian Military Police.

The North Press Agency (NPA), said that the incident took place near the village of Khorkhori, to the west of the border town of Kobani. Turkish and Russian forces were patrolling the areas held by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the northern Aleppo countryside.

According to the agency, the tear gas attack caused several injures among the locals, who were reportedly protesting against Turkish forces only.

The NPA and local sources in northeast Syrian released several photos and a video allegedly showing the moment the incident took place.

Russian and Turkish forces have been conducting joint patrols in northeast Syria for more than two months now. The joint patrols are a part of a Russian-Turkish agreement on northeastern Syria, that was reached last October.

This was not the first confrontation between the patrols and protestors. In the last two months, SDF-linked protestsers attempted to stop the patrols, and even attacked Turkish and Russian vehicles with Molotov cocktails. The SDF stepped up security on the patrol’s route following these confrontations.

Hard times for Turks having so many friends, so they have to use teargas to keep them away:(

Communist guerilla uses lil kids to throw stones, that’s how brave they are without US air cover.

If anyone claims the the Hind drops teargas, then they know absolutely nothing of the subject and are outright lying. The Hind drops IRCM´s, flares in everyday language.

And teargas is not a “deathgas”, it fucks up your mucous membranes, thats it. It makes your eyes water, snot gushing out of your nose and throat soar, thats it. During training we had several trips into the chamber, with nondeluted pure teargas, its not dangerous. The best thing to treat a teargas exposure with, is fresh air, stand with the wind in your face, keep calm, and slowly flush your eyes with water.
