A vehicle was destroyed and few others were damaged in an IED explosion near the town of Atareb in the southwestern Aleppo countryside on January 30, according to local sources. The vehicles were a part of the Turkish military convoy which was heading to the town of Al Eis in southern Aleppo.

Some sources say that the explosion was caused by a car bomb.

According to unconfirmed reports, two Turkish soliders were killed in the incident.

Sources close to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) already claimed that the convoy was shelled by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies.

The convoy was allegedly involved in the Turkish effort to establish an observation point in the area of Al Eis Hill, near the positions of the SAA.

How do you like them apples?

Ronald

Lets hope the air force finishes of the rest of that convoy .

Sanli

Which Air Force? The US one which will use an Base in Turkey or the tiny Syrian Air Force who must face-off with Turkish Air Force which will destroy them immediately by losing the only one advantage that they have against Syrian Rebels.

Russia only helps Assad in case of US-backed Rebels not more – Russia is also aware of the fact that Iran wants more an Kurdistan in the Region then anyone else, USA wants Irans Oil and Iran wants to get rid of his Russian dependence, this the big Story that is happening actually in Syria&Iraq.

Mase fah

what a loads of shit you talking about Iran, you have no idea because you are a dirty turk.

1691

He is up-voting himself.

Ronald

You must be drunk , your not making any sense .

Weldon Cheek

Sto talking crap! The saa would have no problem attacking in their own country, russia wouldnt allow turkey to start air operations against saa!your a clown!

888mladen .

You rewarded yourself for your comment. Didn’t you? It seems many keep on forgetting that RU imposed no fly zone over North Syria after Turkey splashed their SU 24 and one pilot was murdered by terrorists supported by Turkey. RU aerospace forces stationed in Hmeim monitor this air corridor 24/7. No Turkish fighters would be allowed anywhere within striking distance from SAA without being tracked.

PZIVJ

Are the Turks sure they want to be in this area. Not to smart, maybe time to retreat north. :)

as

This is FALSE FLAG i think. Reuters could follow the convoy closely even though it is on HTS territory.

888mladen .

This is not a false flag op. Here is why. Turkish army passed safely through an area which has been controlled by Al Nusra with an intention to block further advance of SAA towards Fua and Kafraia .Turkey has never fought against Al Nusra and associates during all this years of the war in Syria but rather it has been helping them by shelling SAA positions near its border with long range self propelled artillery. Turkey is the main reason why SAA op in Jisir Shogur has failed. When SAA learned of them approaching it fired warning shots and RU send 5 bombers to bomb front line aria still held by terrorists right before Turkish army noses just few miles away from them. That was a series of messages sent by RU showing that Turkey has stepped over the red line and no confrontation with SAA would be tolerated. They were supposed to attack YPG in Afrin and Manjib according to the deal and no incursions into Idleb.

as

I know about the warning RUAF /SyAF and SAA did. What is concerning about this is the event used by their NATO allies in the region even as dubious as this one. None should be sure that Erdogan did not play them with this in concert with the US.

leon mc pilibin

Looks like the Turks have lost their minds,or they are just exchanging places with Isis,?They better come to their senses very quickly.

Sanli

A few Weeks ago USA claimed that ISIS was defeated which are more located in Syria-Iraq Region not on the Part where the Syrian Rebels staying.

ISIS was just the successor of Islamic Army in Iraq.

Also note that the Shia Iraq Population has betrayed Saddam in favour of Iran.

Actually the Turks bitchslapped Iran.

Weldon Cheek

Are you drunk?your comment doesntake sense.

Man Dagang

This is the time turkey send army into whole syria to kill terrorists who are bombing civilians, only to make sure all convoys must accompany by anti aircraft misiles, armed drones and atak helicopters..

FlorianGeyer

Will the Turkish army then turn their guns on themselves for killing Kurdish civilians who live in Turkey Man Dagang ?

Weldon Cheek

Oh no,now turkey is making itself look all tough by attackin some rag tag lightly armed militia in afrin we are getting more and more turkeys on here telling us how the turks are the best army in the world and their going to kick everyones arse! Theyve just run away over a supposed roadside bomb! Jokers!

Toni Liu

You got too many delusion for turks to doing that, turks right now throwing all your jihadist shit to kurds meat grinder, at the end both will fucked up and saa will free from shit stain like you and your friend, dont forget to sniff your daily jenkem you cunt

mhtsaropinigitakis

has happened before…turks went way to south…russian airforce sends them back to the stone age (none that they ever advanced more than the stone age as a race ^^)

Bob

Basic level HTS stunt to try and get Turkish/TFSA proxies and SAA fighting – to relieve pressure on HTS in southern Idlib. Easily identifiable stunt for all concerned.

John Whitehot

yes, it remains to be seen though if Turkey isn’t actually colluding with them, in a “if you kill some of ours and blame the SAA we could have some pretext to help you”. I know that perhaps this is negativistic reasoning, but many worse things have happened.

Bob

Interesting expansion on point – is entirely possible.

Weldon Cheek

It would make sense if the turkish forces hadnt retreted back over the border with idlib after the attack, for them to have used it id say they would of reacted straight away as they would of been prepared, now they have retreted instead seems to me they have decided its a bit too hot and gone back to bullying the kurds!

Xanatos

False flag. Turkish aggression I this part of Syria provoked a lot of outrage and threats From Syria.

The terrorists took advantage of this to attack the Turks and blame it on the SAA, taking advantage of their angry words.

It’s very easy for a third party to start a fight. Especially when one country already had invaded your territory.

FlorianGeyer

It could also have been a CIA sponsored attack or even a Kurdish one. The US is desperate to cause friction between (Russia, Syria ,Iran) and Turkey

Holy Gark

Russia, Syria, Iran and Turkey luckily know it.

FlorianGeyer

Three car bombs then Holy Gark. :) This is just a false flag attack akin to all the fake chemical attacks that have the White Helmets running around in ever decreasing circles as they make another fake video.

The ONLY actors that can hope to gain from this attack are the US backed terrorists and funnily enough the Turkish backed terrorists as well.

‘Follow the money’ Holy Gark , as I guess you do as well whilst you post your infantile nonsense here.

You can call me Al

Yanker effers ???

Very intelligent analysis.

FlorianGeyer

I do I hope have a few lucid moments in what is an extremely complicated and changing conflict. :)

You can call me Al

Thank God you said that; when the article stated “Sources close to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) already claimed that the convoy was shelled by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies …… which IF TRUE has proved my hopeful optimism wrong. I was so hoping for some sort of behind the scenes agreement and plan between Syria and Turkey as n progress.

I shall give it 3 more days, before I decide one way or the other.

FlorianGeyer

It was AlNusra that also tried to blame Russia for bombing an aid convoy in Aleppo in 2016 if you remember and the US was cheer leading as usual. A US drone was overhead at the time. Investigations at the time and after Aleppo was liberated point towards US the terrorists firing at the convoy themselves.

Rüdiger Preiss

Shouldn’t be there in the first place.

Aww IED’s. the mark of a terrorist. Many children have been killed by Kurdish IED’s over the past 50 years. And so this violent Mossad regime marches on without global action against them. https://syrianfreepress.files.wordpress.com/2017/09/kurdisrael.jpg?w=529 https://wolna-polska.pl/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/a159.jpg

dutchnational

Had the turks not invaded Syria, not even one turkish soldier would have been killed. They, or rather Erdogan, brought it on them(selves).

You can call me Al

It will not happen.

I have never had so much contempt for a person, people nor Country as I have for both Israel and the so called Arab states that allow this potential to even be considered.

Pál Póli

I was amazed to see how many articles stated that the SAA was nont invowed in the bombing, like they are so very affraid of the turks.

888mladen .

Turkey is not an ally of Syria. It could have been easily RU Spetznatz.

Orcbuu

You know, Spetznas is more like a frontline Fighting elite group, then a Behind the lines sabotage spy thing.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

This convoy turned back as it didn’t receive approval from Damascus, too many opp statements, the most plausible is that there were reports of fuel tank explosions nearby causing this.

Many don’t know who Jenan Moussa is her parents are well connected to Al Qaeda and she is an ardent terrorist supporter, backs all the opposition groups. Personally wouldn’t be surprised if she isn’t an double or triple agent, with her connections and getting through terrorist areas unmolested.

Graeme Rymill

“Jenan Moussa is her parents are well connected to Al Qaeda”

You are making that up Woolpuller…..prove me wrong!

Astar Roth

She is treacherous spineless self hating cunnt, that’s who she really is. Christian Ammanpour is another example.

Graeme Rymill

I don’t know the woman. My point remains – show me some evidence that “her parents are well connected to Al Qaeda”. These sorts of bullshit claims are the hallmark of Woolpuller.

Weldon Cheek

Not sure those exploding fuel tanks sound so plausible??? A whole convoy turning back instead of giving a wide berth? Maybe someone has been lacing area with mines very recently and they dont want to hang around in un defendable area whilst clearing them?

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Turkey was refused permission , they can’t just move themselves into a frontline, under the Astana agreement they are prohibited from interfering with the fight on terrorism. Possibly the driver is dead and 2 HTS were injured faulty wiring and proper procedures not followed could cause this.

Reports have surfaced of an unknown group claiming responsibilty after Turkey claimed it was an IED. You won’t see a convoy sitting close and being exposed near the SAA. Night time so not a good idea if there are anymore surprises.

Barba_Papa

With allies like these Jihadis who needs enemies? Well done, Erdogan, well done. I hope you’re chewing the carpets in your gold plated palace.

Weldon Cheek

And they are now back at the border where they started so all the jihadilovers on here can stop pulling on their dicks imagining the turks were going to beable to slow down or even put a stop to the GLORIOUS march of the saa and co as they wipe out the forces in their path!! That map is just getting reder and reder every day!

Weldon Cheek

https://mobile.almasdarnews.com/article/turkeys-incursion-southern-aleppo-short-lived-tro ops-return-border/ try this report.

PZIVJ

This is good news, looks like the Turks are not welcome in this area. :) May have been a Jihadist car bomb sitting on the side of the road. Turks are blaming a terrorist car bomb. Update: https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/turkish-armed-forces-claim-convoy-targeted-terrorists-rural-aleppo/

Weldon Cheek

Seems a bit weird though seeing as turkey are more of an ally than enemy to the terrorists in this area, fsa wouldnt do it,hts would also gain advantage to turkish forces being around getting in the way of the saa. No,i think maybe they had the idea they could do what they want in syria and just like the Americans have allowed them to walk all over them, they thought everyone would and maybe the syrians or even russians has put their foot down and warned them off?hope so,an accidental carbomb is just so deflating!

PZIVJ

There are many factions in Idlib who do not agree with one another. This is a great learning experience for the Turkish military. As in (go back to your border) LOL
