On September 27, Turkmenistan showcased for the first time ever its newly-acquired Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 combat drones during a military parade commemorating the 30th anniversary of its independency.
Prior to the parade, Turkmenistan was not known to be one of the operators of the Bayraktar TB2. At least three combat drones of this type are currently in service with the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Bayraktar TB2, which was developed by Turkey’s Baykar, gained much fame last year after taking part in several Turkish-backed operations in Syria and Libya. The combat drone also played a key role in Azerbaijan’s victory in the last Nagorno-Karabakh war.
While most Bayraktar TB2 combat drones are equipped with the Canadian-made WESCAM MX-15D or the Turkish-made Aselsan CATS optical targeting systems, the drones supplied to Turkmenistan were equipped with the ARGOS-II HDT system, which is made by Germany’s Hensoldt.
Turkmenistan’s Bayraktar TB2 combat drones were armed with the MAM-L and MAM-C small-diameter laser-guided munitions during the parade. Both munitions are made by Turkey’s Roketsan,
The Ministry of Internal Affairs will likely use the combat drones to monitor the country’s border with Afghanistan, where the Taliban seized control less than two months ago.
turkish garbage. Why don’t they send these into the Russian A2/AD zone in Syria?
The answer is obvious. The garbage would be remote hijacked or simply shot down well beyond it’s effective range.
Don’t mistake toys for serious hardware.
Turkmenistan has good relations with both Turkey and Iran.
