On March 25, at least two Israeli soldiers were wounded in a drive-by shooting attack that took place in the occupied West Bank.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that the two soldiers were hit by gunfire near the Route 60 highway in the northern West Bank town of Huwara.

The military launched a manhunt for the suspected attacker, who fled the scene in his car. IDF troops closed several roads leading to the nearby city of Nablus.

The two wounded soldiers were taken to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikvah by military medics. According to the Israeli volunteer emergency service Rescuers Without Borders, the pair were conscious and were not suffering from life-threatening wounds.

This was the third shooting attack to take place in Huwara in recent weeks. On March 12, two Israelis were shot dead by a Palestinian gunman while driving through the town. Later on March 19, an Israeli weapons instructor was seriously wounded after being shot by a Palestinian in Huwara.

Tensions between Israel and the Palestinians have been growing for the last few months. Attacks carried out by Palestinian have claimed the lives of 15 Israelis since the start of the year. During the same period, 86 Palestinians were killed during Israeli raids and security operations.
