Two Israelis were killed on January 14 when Hezbollah attacked a house in the settlement of Kfar Yuval near the border with Lebanon with an anti-tank guided missile.
In a statement claiming responsibility for the attack, Hezbollah said that its fighters targeted a unit of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in Kfar Yuval. Hebrew media later identified the casualties as Barak Ayalon, a man in his 40s who served as a member of the Kfar Yuval civilian emergency response team, and his mother, 74-years-old Mira Ayalon. Kfar’s father was also wounded in the attack.
Hezbollah announced attacks against two other gatherings of Israeli troops in the military sites of al-Marj and Hadab Yaron. It also said that it had targeted the Birkat Risha and al-Asi military sites.
In addition, the group said its fighters destroyed surveillance equipment which were recently installed by the IDF in the Matla military site with sniper rifles and targeted an artillery position near the Khirbet Maar military site using rockets.
Hezbollah also announced that an Israeli reconnaissance drone was shot down by its fighters over the southern Lebanon town of Marwahin.
The group noted in its statements that the attacks were carried out “to support the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance.”
It also released video footage showing a missile attack that targeted a gathering of Israeli troops in the settlement of Shtula earlier this month.
Hezbollah was not the only group to launch attacks against Israel from southern Lebanon during the day. A shadowy group calling itself the Islamic al-Ezz Brigades (IEB) claimed responsibility for a cross-border raid that targeted an IDF patrol in the Israeli-occupied Shebaa Farms in the early morning.
Hebrew media said that five Israeli soldiers sustained light to moderate wounds in the raid. Meanwhile, the IDF alleged that four of the attackers were killed.
The IEB, which is most likely allied with Hezbollah, said in a statement that the raid was carried out in response to the war on Gaza and the recent assassination of Saleh al-Arouri, deputy leader of the Hamas Movement.
It also announced that three of its fighters were killed during the raid, while two others managed to withdraw. Three other fighters of the group were killed just a day earlier in an Israeli drone strike while on a reconnaissance mission near the border.
In response to the last wave of cross-border attacks, the IDF said that it struck several targets of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese media reported airstrikes on the town of al-Labouneh and said that intense artillery strikes hit the towns of Kafr Kila, Al-Adisa, and Rab al-Thalathine. However, there were no casualties among civilians and Hezbollah didn’t announce any losses.
The clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border first broke out after the start of the war in Gaza, with Hezbollah and its allies carrying out attacks in support of the Strip.
As of January 14, the border clashes have resulted in six civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of nine IDF soldiers. On the Lebanese side, more than 200 have been killed. The toll includes 150 Hezbollah fighters, 14 of whom were killed in Syria, 25 Palestinians, a Lebanese soldier, and at least 24 civilians.
first vid says bad time for a smoke break. “depends” on how “pampered” the individual was.
did someone forget the children and women slaughtered throughout your sick and bizarre history, zionist garbage?
it could be a possibility that israel conceals casualties of their soldiers, but wants to tell the world of their civilian deaths to make hezbollah seem barbaric and incompetent. a reason for this admission of these three civilians killed? yet no casualties admitted for all these videos of their soldiers getting bombed?
“it could be a possibility that israel conceals casualties…” $eriously…you don’t say?
