Two Spanish journalists and an Irish national were abducted in eastern Burkina Faso on April 26. They disappeared alongside a Burkinabe soldier after an attack on an anti-poaching military unit in a national park in the east of the country, near the border with Benin. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez confirmed that two Spaniards were killed, naming the victims. Both were described as seasoned war journalists. They reportedly had histories of working in conflict zones in Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq etc.

Ireland’s RTE cited senior Burkina Faso security sources as saying that the Irish national also died.

The two journalists were reportedly part of a group of 40.

According to the New York Times, they were filming a documentary about anti-poaching activities in the Western African nation when their convoy was ambushed.

The authorities in Burkina Faso said in a statement on April 27 that the country had faced “a resurgence of terrorist acts” since Sunday. Around 10 people had been reportedly killed in separate attacks.

Interesting. Not able to smuggle the horns out of the country to China being the main buyer , Was it in South Africa where they were chainsawing the horns off to try and save them from being shot.

Tommy Jensen

This is what MSM tells you. China is guilty of everything bad in Africa, because they do a more human and better job in Africa, than EU and US and their lapdog India ever have been doing. I saw on TV this ugly chain sawing horns done by a white guy from some British financed NGO, in Kenya I think, with same excuse as you tell us. Bottomless hypocrisy.

John Wallace

Did I say China is guilty of everything .. NO .. I lived in Africa for 5 years and also lived in Asia so I am talking from personal experience , not some documentary or article. They chain saw the horns so poachers don’t shoot them for the horn. Is it better that all rhino are wiped out.. Yes you can buy Rhino horn powder in China and Hong Kong from the many traditional medicine shops everywhere. There are also shops with nothing but ivory products .. Seen with MY eyes ..

So, Its the UK-US based red-neck losers who wish to express their killer traits that have been decimated wildlife in their former colonies. Truth be told

Tommy Jensen

@John Wallace. All right, I were a bit one sided there. My regrets. @Simon Ndiritu Well, its the European, US and rich Arabs who have the money to go Safari. One more thing is the media whining about Brazil’s and its President Bolsonaro’s deforestation of Amazonas. In fact European companies are those who operate and deforest Amazonas. Never trust 1 article in MSM.
