On June 11, the Turkish Ministry of National Defense announced that two Turkish service members were killed and two other were wounded as a result of an attack with an improvised explosive device that took place in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
Initially, the ministry said that a single service member was killed and three others were wounded in the attack. However, it later said that a second soldier had died of his wounds.
The two slain Turkish service members were identified as Commando Private Fuat Ozer and Specialist Sergeant Gokhan Demir.

The Turkish Ministry of National Defense said that the deadly attack took place in the area of the counter-insurgency Operation Claw-Lock. The main target of the operation, which began on April 17, is the cells of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the areas of Metina, Zap and Avashin Basyan.
