The Type 88 (SSM-1) is a mobile coastal defense missile system developed by Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. It employs a land-based version of the air-launched Type 80 (ASM-1) anti-ship missile.

Only Mach 1.5 and only 180km range. Not impressed.
Good enough for coastal defense against invasion. It isn’t an area denial weapon.
The range is not enough. A ship could fire a salvo of cruise missiles at these coastal launch sites from 3-4000km. Longer range wins, that simple. They can reach out, you cant…
interesting weapon system, seems inspired by russian stuff, but substantially downgraded in terms of range, speed. If upgraded with better missiles and radars, could prove to be useful in the future.
