The US is accusing Russia of spreading instability in the Middle East and violating the UN-backed ceasefire regime in Syria.
“Diplomatically and militarily, Moscow plays both arsonist and firefighter, fueling tensions among all parties in Syria,” the commander of US Central Command, Gen. Joseph Votel, said on Feburary 27.
“It is clear that Russia’s interests in Syria are Russia’s interests and not those of the wider international community,” he said. “Their role is incredibly destabilizing at this point.”
Gen. Votel continued saying that Russia offers to serve as a mediator in an effort to “undermine and weaken each party’s bargaining position.”
“An increase in Russian surface-to-air missile systems in the region threatens our access and ability to dominate the airspace,” the general complained.
On the same day, the US State Department accused Russia of “not supporting” the UN-backed ceasefire in Syria and reavealed a disastrous fact that Moscow “continues to back” the Syrian government.
Washington also accused Damascus of conducting a chemical attack in Eastern Ghouta, but admitted that it was still looking for evidence to prove the claim.

One question , does US has any control over the rebels that refused to allow civilians to leave battle zones and acted so biased and nonsensical accusations when they should look into the mirror.

Russia is patient because militarily its relatively weak. It has only a small contingent there, even when they were at its largest, and its supply lines there can be cut off by NATO (I’m calling them NATO because its easier then to list every American sidekick country, but any military operation in Syria would not involve NATO in any real way). If they want too the Americans could overwhelm the Russian in Syria. It will cost them, but they can.
As for US control over the rebels, I doubt that there is much. They do what they want anyway. Half the time they’re just as happy killing each other anyway. But when they fight Assad, their interests overlaps with that of the US, and when they prevent civilians from leaving, causing more of them to die, that also serves the US well. In essence they’re useful idiots.
Well, on a WWIII there will be no supply lines, sticks and rocks, sure, but no humans to fight with that, nihil.
And yet we increasingly have politicians and generals who seem to think you can wage war against a nuclear armed power. That worries me more then anything, because if deterrence no longer works, all bets are off. That’s how WWI started.

Thing is though, even though most people still get their news from the MSM, the vast majority of people just don’t care about Syria. They liked it when Trump laid down the law with that cruise missile strike after Khan Sheykhun, but that was just a quick sucker punch. There is no stomach in any Western country for a real military intervention in Syria, other then against IS. And only because IS was stupid enough to declare war against the West and encourage its nutjobs to commit attacks there. If they hadn’t, like Al-Nusra, IS would still be there right now in large parts of Syria. Just like Al-Nusra.
Western leaders are aching to intervene in Syria and topple Assad’s government, but they are hampered by the fact that there is no public support to do so. Other then the odd punishment strike after a major chemical attack. But even then only just for a quick strike, not a prolonged air campaign. Which is made worse by the Russian presence there.
I don’t think it is because of lack of public support that they are not in Syria doing the fighting. It is rather they do not want to die in big numbers . Today the war is different from before where enemies carry only bows and arrows . They were very brave. Today their enemies carry Atgms and ever ready to give a big embrace and go to heavens with 72 virgins together.
Gone are the days that Western powers are able to do serious battle unless their own countries are threatened..
